Like seriously, he's a good fighter, but he lost to GGG twice and I'm not even sure he won tonight (but was close).
I can't believe the amount of either one-eyed or bias people on here...I'd love to see him actually win a fight clearly, but until now I haven't and that's when I can't rate a fighter in the top of any rankings... yet I see ppl writing about his "resume" and him being a P4P fighter, FML am I drunk or am I just dumb.
His best wins are against Liam Smith, Amir Khan, Rocky Who? Fielding and James Kirkland, just about every other "win" was not a win!

Top 3 p4p ahead of Crawford and behind Loma and USYK.
Don’t have to be Mexican to recognize a great fighter. Canelo is a great fighter. Beat a Cruiserweight last night.
I have Canelo 1-1 vs GGG. Those were 2 close fights. His other close fights were not controversial at all to me. And last night wasn’t a very close fight, 8-4, 9-3, 10-2, or7-5 were all good cards.
Here’s what’s tough for Ggg fans. Canelo is the anti GGG. He went pro really young instead of staying amateur. He took on challenges early instead of fought bums into his early to mid 30s. And he changed weights too to make his best fights. So whether you have Canelo 2-0 or 0-2 vs GGG, he still has and always will have a better resume than GGG by a mile.
Dunno dude, when I say "rate" i mean as being great and P4P.
On your logic, do you also have Keith Thurman in your top P4P list?
Nah, he was maybe top 10-15 following his wins over DSG and Porter but he’s been way too inactive.
Canelo’s resume is clearly that of a p4p level guy. There’s a couple of dubious decisions. (The first GGG fight for sure) but he still holds wins over GGG x2, Jacobs, Cotto, Lara, Trout, Mosley etc.
His skill set is also P4P level. I was at both GGG fights and the Liam Smith fight and his technique, combination punching, timing, upper body movement and control of distance are all elite level. Has very underrated footwork and defence as well.
I think the reality is that this argument is pointless. Just by saying that somebody is not great, does not mean they we are saying he is ****. He is very good, without a doubt, i really like him, but a spade is a spade simple as that.
I don't care about GGG, yes he beat Canelo clearly (especially in the first), but the fact that boxing and the commentators keep talking about him being great is really sad (as it's so obvious they just wanna stay in GBP good books).
Canelo a good fighter and what stands out most is how much he improved after Floyd/GGG fights. I just think he clearly lost to GGG in first fight and 2nd fight shoulda been a draw.
I hate how Canelo-fans call everyone a hater who is critical of him even when you give him credit!
Canelo is legit. He's done some things I'm not a fan of such as the PED thing and his own temporary weight class of 155 but he's a fighter through and through and a damn good one.

Didn't know Ring Magazine and tons of other press and well known boxing outlets that rate him highly were a bunch of Mexicans.
Yes! He’s an excellent fighter. P4P top 5 IMO. Canelo fanboys overrate him but there’s no denying his talent.
And that’s coming from a huge GGG fan who doesn’t
like Canelo and his entitled fan base whatsoever.

Do any NON-Mexicans actually rate Canelo?

:)
I rate Canelo as the "biggest star in boxing to date"...
... but not as the P4P #1...
... (my candidates for P4P #1 are Crawford, Loma, Spence, Usyk...) :)
That is actually what I was trying to point out earlier in the other thread.
People keep clamoring about his resume but the good wins in his resume have asterisks in most of them. I respect that he took challenges and win them, but if you want to be undoubtedly ranked as the "the best", you have to establish DOMINANCE too - that's where Canelo lacks at this point. You can say he's one the bests but he's not a standout and it's very disputable.
He's just a tiptop 1st in a strong competition, which can easily be overtaken.
At least he’s fought all the big names at each weight, how we can have P4P who don’t fight anyone is beyond me
That being said he hasn’t had a convincing win against his last few big fights, if Danny started from round one and fought for centre ring he’d of won no doubts about it.
Posts like this show me that people either have no clue what they are watching or let their bias dictate how they see a fight. Canelo is a great fighter, has a phenomenal skill set and great chin. I am saying this as a GGG fan. The three of them, Canelo, Jacobs, GGG, are all elite fighters and there is very little between them.

boxing aint yo sport hommie
100% if you can't see his skill set and the level at which he fights at, you're a hater. I think his problem is he has 'the machine' behind him. He may well have lost those Golovkin fights but he has a solid resume, skillset and accolades to back it up
