After getting Amir Khan to do the chicken dance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUW7gWi4vZ0
Seems like a talent that went wrong somewhere, wonder what he thinks about Crawford -v- The Dancer?
What happened? He lost, repeatedly. It's not management and promotion. It seems some people demand a conspiracy theory for everything. Prescott just didn't perform in the ring.
Two fights after Khan he lost a decision against Miguel Vazquez. It was a SD but he should have lost on all 3 cards. The fight after that was his real shot at being a name and he lost by a wide margin on the cards, spoiling his chance at the WBO lightweight title. Ironically, Khan won the super-lightweight title on the same card AND Billy Joe Saunders & Tony Bellew both fought early in their careers. Good card.
He then won a couple of fights but then got KO'd by Alvarado for a minor title. After that it was all downhill. He was a better-than-average fighter who happened to score a good punch against a named guy with a glass jaw. But in fights with better competition his limitations were repeatedly exposed.
He upset some very powerful people by almost derailing Khans career. He had to be shutdown and put in the background so that folks would be able to quickly forget that hiccup. If he stayed in the spotlight and got the shot in Khans place...then Khans career would have been over before it began. As stated by others.. management and promotion.
Journeyman at best, not that good but loved seeing him spark out Khan in the first round. He also launched Crawford's career, who took the fight on short notice and outboxed Prescott. Think this was the first time Crawford had been on the big stage.
Yep! I became a fan of Crawford that night.
Maybe he got ****y when he KOed Khan and didn't stay disciplined .. Which maybe he got lucky against Khan.
Khan doesn't have the best chins for sure, no secret about that..plus the fight didn't last long.
He's garbage that's what happened to him.
The thing is, its not like he beat kahn in some complicated chess match and landed a perfect shot, Prescott wailed on him and it worked. Period.
Shame he didn't receive a title shot after his win over Khan though. Khan himself got one 2 or 3 fights later. Prescott just got used as a trialhorse for other fighters needing to make their name. Boxing can seem very unfair sometimes, you're either marked out for stardom or you're not.
Think he just didn't have the backing or the discipline, and guess he wasn't marketable. In all of his fights since Amir Khan, he has been the opponent in the majority of them. Beat Richar Abril in the fight before Khan in another upset, so eejits saying he got lucky showing they DKSAB as usual. Also got robbed against Miguel Vasquez the year after beating Khan. Vasquez went on to a shot at the vacant IBF title, while Prescott went to fight Kevin Mitchell in England.
