Why is Degale considered old, or weakened?

Just look at his last two fights vs Truax and also him not having the confidence to beat Uzcategui so he ducked him and vacated his world title...says alot

A few reasons: 1.) He hasn't had a signature performance since Brandon Gonzales in 2014 2.) He struggles mightily against B-level opponents. 3.) He lost to Caleb Truax.

Probably.Just injuries. I don't agree tough fights weaken you. Constant wars may shorten career but being tested makes you battle proven. Like some people say barrera was past prime when Pac beat him because of wars with morales?rd But I rather just think barrera was tested and battle proven and not green. I never really followed him or the SMW division until recently but I am watching some fights now, for example Degale vs Dirrell, which is a phenomenal fight from start to finish! looking at the record I am curious as to why people are saying that Degale has taken too much damage or that he is washed up. Is this because of his two fights with Truax or the draw with Badou Jack? DeGale was pure hype so so overrated. Beaten by Badou Jack for sure. That was DeGales prime and Badou whipped it out of him. Also Porky Medina battered him. So lucky to get that decision. He was just never that good

Is this because of his two fights with Truax or the draw with Badou Jack?Jack beat him clearly in my opinion and he looked terrible in both fights with mediocre Truax. He may not be washed up but he looked poor in his last two fights. He will need to fighter better than he did against Truax to beat Eubank who is young with a high work rate and very good power.

A combination of what most people said here. I said after that Jack fight that i don't think he'll be the same again. I actually scored it a draw, or maybe Jack by a point but people forget that DeGale controlled the first half of the fight pretty much and dropped Badou Jack too. DeGale took far more punishment in that fight but if you score the rounds, a draw is ok. The punishment he took in the last half shortens careers. He also got into wars with fighters that he probably could've outboxed more easily. That said, if he has one more good performance in him and can fight smart for 12 rounds, then he can still beat Eubank.

That Jack fight was brutal, then Degale's had shoulder surgery, and struggled against Truax (twice)... after the rematch, Degale even said he reckoned he's only got a couple more years left in the sport...

Degale showed he can really fight against Jack. It was a pretty brutal fight, harder than anything Eubank will bring. People seem to forget that Eubank doesn't like getting hit, watch the Groves fight.

Got dragged through hell by Jack and then went life and death with Truax twice (who is awful) I'm certain DeGale is shot and a fringe guy like Eubank is going to run through him

Injury prone. Parties a lot. Hard fights with Medina, Jack, Truax x2. He's burnt out fast due to these combinations.

If you just look at boxrec DeGale looks fine barring the Caleb loss but in his fights you can see he's struggling hard and hasn't resembled the gold medalist he once was.

He also got hit quite a bit against Bute and Medina. That is what started the decline and then Jack just pretty much made him washed up. His performance vs Traux in the first fight was terrible and even in the rematch he didn't look all that much better. Definitely not the same guy we saw against Dirrell. But the question is if he was just unhealthy heading into the Traux fight and if he has enough left in the tank to beat Eubank?

He's had plenty of paggerings along the ropes go watch him against that French Somalia guy mahoumidi or some **** for the ebu title. He's taken a lot of shots then he had surgery and a break ,returned and lost to to truax who is not rated as a smw and is at the tail end of his career I think that's why..I think he schools jnr though still

Groves was even worse and still made a mockery of Jr
