Genetics!!!! Generally speaking Mexicans whether they are poor or middle class are simply not big tall men.
My point still stands in regards to where you'll find the bigger, taller guys over 6ft, but yes, you are correct. In general the Mexican population isn't a tall one.
The native indian/indigenous population of the southern states brings down that average.
Diet, nutrition and genetics. Same as Asians. And that probably has to do more with higher standards of living and ease of access to the right foods.
We're already starting to see top Mexican fighters in the middle divisions (Canelo, Zurdo, Benavidez) now, it's matter of time before we see them contending in the light-heavyweight and cruiser divisions
Once this happens, Mexicans will be undisputed in boxing. Mexicans already have a champion in every weight class up to 168lbs.
The Japanese are heavy in the lightweights, Eastern euros and brits are top heavy and Americans are well represented in the welters/middleweights.
Mexicans would be across the board from top to bottom.
Boxing Trivia: Juan Manuel Marquez is the only fighter ever to hold a world featherweight title and the national Mexican
super heavyweight title at the same time.
Why did it take you 4 years to make your first post? lol :boxing:

UFC heavyweight is a very weak division just like in boxing. You also left out that cormier was an Olympic level wrestler
Not even close
Despite being less popular boxing still has a way more athletic talent pool
There aren’t any athletes like Fury. Parker. Whyte. wilder and Joshua at ufc hw
Hard hitting heavies who can go 12 rounds
Their ngannou #2 seed gasses out after 1 round
lol @ the talent pool in mixed martial arts tho.
champ is a 40 y/o, 5'9 black dude who started MMA at like 30.
#2 seed is a homeless African dude who started training MMA at like 26.
#3 is a fireman
#4 is Bob's uncle
Being king of the hill in MMA means jack chit in terms of athletic prowess.

How has this thread made it to 4 pages?
It's the same reason there haven't been many Asian heavyweights. Same reason there aren't as many white sprinters or basketball players as black. It's genetics.
That doesn't make any sense at all. Most of those well fed mother****ers would still only be 5'7 and far from a naturally HW body frame.
No, there are guys in Northern Mexico, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Mexico City and in the state of Sinaloa that have size and are over 6ft. They dont need to box. Usually middle class.
They focus on college football, baseball.
Boxing has a has huge culture in Mexico and among Mexican-Americans but aside from John Ruiz there haven't been many notable heavyweights.
John Ruiz is Puerto Rican
