What a farce. All of the sudden Lucas turns into Malignaggi overnight and is throwing nothing but jabs and is pulling his power shots?
I guess I should've seen it coming. That fight was a farce and Lucas was probably paid to go down and stay down in the 7th round. I'm not even sure that final uppercut even landed and he's taking knees before that? All of the sudden Pac has this tremendous power @ 147 when he hasn't had a KO in NINE years? Laughable.
I don't think it was. He didn't expect Pacquiao to hit that hard, and then when he ate some of those counter right hooks early he looked very uneasy. After the 3rd knockdown he probably thought enough was enough and decided not to get up.
What a farce.
--- Moaners always gonna find something to moan about.
Manny blasted Horn around in his 9th round a lot more than Crawford did in his, but like the Algieri bout when Chris went down 6x and hit the ropes another 6x, no way the ref gonna TKO him and queer the impending billion dollar money farce of the TUE 50-0 bout.
If a fighter is hurt and don't take a knee to recover, he's dumb. If he takes a knee to recover and the ref waves him off, he took a dive. No consistency compared to moaners who only know to moan...only in boxing!
Lucas would have won that fight if they didn't allow Postol to clinch all fight and headbutt Matthysse on his eye. The eye injury came after Postol headbutted him right on the eye in round 6 or 7 I believe.
Facts that not everyone remember.
You know people forget as soon as it fits their agenda
I think Pac was just too much for Lucas. After that first KD, Lucas's brain was clearly shook. He even got hit in the temple immediately after that uppercut.
2nd KD, he also got slightly clipped in the temple by a pretty quick shot (hard to see at certain angles, but his head definitely reacted), his equilibrium was likely affected by then.
After the 3rd KD, he'd had enough, and knew there was nothing more he could do. I really doubt he showed up just for the pay..
They are both obviously past prime, which made this interesting for me, but Pac's style is not easy to deal with.. for ANYONE.
I had that fight with Postol pretty close until the round or two before the stoppage.

A "dive" is a premeditated occurrence.
I think Lucas came to fight but Pac "discouraged" him from trying right after he got caught with the first left upper cut!
Lucas has never shown he could handle stress and remain committed! He is a typical South American fighter with limited talents and a questionable heart!
He will retire or fight on against other older C+ boxers with a name.

The $2 million payday from fighting Pacquiao may have been Matthysse's last fight in the big time after beginning his career in small-hall shows in Argentina. Thanks, my bad. I stand corrected.
Where did you get that 2.5 mil figure from? From what I've heard his purse was only $150,000 and Pac's was $1.5 million.

:haha:
Lol! You really think a world champ just fought Pacquiao for 150k?
Lucas is pretty much past prime for a long time, he looked bad vs Postol and got hurt by similar shots and got knocked out by a lighter punching guy. Manny hits much harder and is much faster, even at 39. Lucas is a naturally aging fighter who has been in many tough wars.

I think Matthysse just doesn't have a big heart. He's got the power but once he starts getting hit and hurt much, he's looking for a way out. Manny's style was poison for him. No dive. Just a dude who decided to quit trying. Bayless wouldn't have stopped it if Matthysse hadn't spit his mouth piece out. That was a sure sign that he'd said Screw it. Some guys aren't going to fight balls to the wall until they fall. They get hurt a little and they either quit or go into a shell. That's what happened imo.
This ^
Plus, Matthysse got cracked hard right on the chin where he had been clocked really hard earlier in the fight. Manny was smart looking for that punch again.
pac hasn't been a come forward fighter for ten years. this is why he got robbed against floyd. everyone expected him to just come forward and when he didnt they said well i guess floyd is winning ignoring that pac was actually landing the much cleaner punches and befuddling floyd who could only land little grazing punches at best.
He didn't get robbed vs. Floyd but to be fair, the fight was pretty even prior to Pacquiao re-injuring the shoulder in the 4th rd. Also interesting, Manny out landed Floyd in that fight and there's proof on a very well known video website.
No he didn't. He looked like an obscure Thai boxer that had never been in the ring with a decent fighter and then got punched by a world class fighter with extraordinary punching power.
^ This. He hung in there but just couldn't avoid the big shots or take LM's power.
Pac-Man even surprised me, I thought he would win by UD or a TKO in round 11/12, but from round 1 Pac-Man was connecting with fast hard uppercuts and straight lefts, was spooky seeing him turn back the years.
Agreed. My prediction was a win by UD. I was pleasantly surprised.
Funny you should mention that fight because the left hook Wlad threw didn't land either. It was much more clear in the Pac-Matthysse fight though. The right hook from Pac at the nine second mark of the 5th round does not land and it is plain as day. You are just blind.
I suggest getting glasses or follow another sport
LOL...you really believe Pac only got paid $1.5 million for that fight? If I am wrong then show me a link that he got more. He wasn't fighting in Las Vegas over the weekend with Top Rank but in Malaysia; A developing country in South East Asia. If he did earn more then he better hope that this fight sold very well because he has to pay all of his creditors back with interest. He had to assume all of the risks and obligations for this event because he was the sole promoter. So if it tanked at the box office then it is all on him.
