He did look good and i picked him to beat iman cause was abit suss after his loss but thought he would put him away alot quicker. Didnt think it would come down to the scorecards.
So until he fights prograis and if he beats him then i will say hes up their with the other a level fighters
Not to me. I don't think either of them should have been fighting for a world title. Nobody but the WBC ranks them very high. Boxrec had Amir 14th and Ramirez 23rd. The IBF, WBO and the WBA didn't rank either of them anywhere in their top 15. If Ramirez charged after Mikey or or Regis like that I think he would get KOed.
He didn't prove he is A level but he proved he's legit. I was never really impressed with JR but he's been doing new things in there and tonight he proved his chin is A-B+.
I personally think Ramirez loses to every other belt holder besides the Hooker-Flanagan fight.
He might just lose to Flanagan in that one too, if Flanagan was actually drained at 135 and looks stronger at 140.
Steve Kim - "Jose Ramirez wasn't as highly touted as a Felix Verdejo or Frankie Gomez back several years ago. He flat out was more committed to his craft. Look at him now...."
Talent wise Imam os elite
Talent wise Imam isn’t elite but very good none the less. Ramirez has a way to go until we can call him elite. Prograis is a bit better than Imam so we’ll see how he handles that talent.
He is a very good fighter but he needs that fight vs Prograis to be in the élite level.
Prograis is in the same case.
Beat ****ing Indongo does NT make you a élite fighter
So then amend the question. Having elite talent doesn’t make you an elite fighter.
you'd also have to agree that amir imam has elite talent, which is pretty ridiculous. he has one punch power at 140 lbs and that's it.
Applied smart pressure and he showed that he has a iron chin and great boxing ability. He definitely will give Taylor and Prograis some trouble.
He looked good once he warmed up a lil. It’s a damn shame how one judge had it a complete wash though...120-108 not so fast
