David Price :
Usyk will make Gassiev work at the pace he wants, by being constantly in range and pressuring with the front foot. He’ll take some licks along the way, but his engine will win him a close decision. To be honest, though, that is one of the hardest questions to answer because you could say the same for Gassiev! What a fight!
Enzo Maccarinelli :
A genuine 50/50 fight but Usyk to win in a tough fight – he might have to survive some shaky moments though.
Peter Fury
I really like Usyk, he’s a great boxer. I’ve not seen much of the other guy, but he will need to be very special to beat Usyk.
Callum Johnson
It’s a fight I'm looking forward to very much. I slightly favour Usyk. 1. Because I'm a big fan and 2. I just think he’ll have the tools to outpoint Gassiev. Very good fight!
Michael Conlan
I have loved Gassiev throughout this competition, he’s been an absolute beast. I do feel that Usyk’s movement will cause him major problems, but still I’m going for a late Gassiev stoppage!

I love the style of Usyk. His work rate and heart can bring him through any test. I’m sticking with him all the way.

I would say that Gassiev is the stronger, come forward fighter, while Usyk is a more skilful boxer-puncher. I think Usyk wins on points… Or Gassiev by TKO!
Interesting take from these guys. I think most people will agree the Usyk is the more technical fighter.
I'm leaning 60 -40 in favor of Usyk but i'm hoping that being the fresher, physically stronger and naturally the more powerful puncher that Gassive can pull it off.
ive changed my mind and picking usyk after watching this gassiev vs lebedev breakdown:
yea, gassiev is an improving fighter but way less experienced and his connect rate vs southpaws has been low
I'm close to switching my pick.... Gassiev could pull it off. Or maybe his win is too fresh in my mind?Gassiev was able to walk through a very hard puncher in his last fight. He should do the same to Usyk. He needs to loop his big shots and use the shotgun jab and just walk forward the whole fight. Gassiev late rounds ko. He can't let Usyk get to his body even if Usyk can't crack an egg.
It's Usyk by decision or Gassiev by KO for me. I lean more towards Usyk by decision, but he can be hurt and Gassiev is definitely the more durable guy. I just think Usyk is more skilled and has a big advantage in experience.
Also not that this means much, but I had Lebedev beating Gassiev, no doubt Gassiev has improved since then, just worth a mention.
Meh, thought Gassiev clearly edged it. He was landing the harder shots. Lebedev made a nice run in the 2nd half of the fight, but still fell a bit short.
And Gassiev who is young, was just a puppy at that time. He had barely turned 23 I believe, and that fight helped him grow as a fighter. Look at how much more technical he is now compared to then. He fights more patient as well and picks his spots instead of just going at his opponent.
I don't buy that Gassiev can only win by KO, he could absolutely win a decision.
jesus i can't believe this is finally just two weeks away. It was looking like we weren't going to get this match.
Any word at all on a north american broadcast? Kind of sad that it's been six months and still haven't been able to watch Usyk vs Toby (Briedis) in English
I still think it's a 50/50 fight though. Probably the most even fight on paper this year so far.
I got Gassiev. Usyk is technically superior and better conditioned but I got Gassiev on full on power and durability!!!!! Dude is a ****en machine !!!!! Love seeing those brutal body shots break down his opponents.
WAR IRON Gassiev !!!!!!!!
I'm with you. Usyk gives the appearance of being the better technical boxer but he doesn't really appear to dominate his opposition while Gassiev is destroying anyone in his way. Unless Usyk has another level to step it up to, I think he's gonna be in trouble. :boxing:

I have that fight 55:45 for Usyk, so gun to my head i say Usyk by close decision, the fight is in Russia though, so thats an advantage for Murat, but is he just too slow for Usyk and will he get outboxed most of the fight? Can he catch Usyk, knock him down, possibly knock him out? Yes, thats possible but i just really like both fighters and I hope they put up a great fight where eventually both come out as winners.. I wanna see them both moving up to Heavyweight by the end of the year.

Gassiev is a solid brick of a fighter, not unlike a CW version of GGG. Nothing spectacular to the eye but their durability, pressure and power takes its toll on opponents.
Usyk can't afford to lose early rounds against someone like Gassiev, because when the clock is ticking and he needs a KO he isn't going to find one. Usyk needs to add a bit of craftiness to his game to win this one, even if it turns the fight into a stinker. Hit him first and often and clinch to drag out the time when needed.
I favour Usyk to win by decision but would not be surprised if Gassiev takes this. Imagine if Usyk has another one of his slow starts, losing the first 4 rounds or so while being worked to the body? He has been able to coast and figure out his opponents and then turn up the heat as the fight progresses, putting more and more pressure on them and using his superior cardio to outwork them - but will his body allow him to do that after being pummelled by Gassiev?
All in all, should be a nail-biting fight. I don't care what anyone says, the CW division is stacked as a mofo and the lack of household names or western fighters does NOT take anything away from how good the division is.
Finally a linear, unified, 4 belt holder in a division. The WBSS for the CW div especially has really set the standard for how boxing should be: ALL the belts, ALL the best fighters, ALL in their prime, Mostly UNDEFEATED champions and contenders.
Bravo to the sport of boxing, in an age where people say it's dead / dying.

I give Gassiev a 60% chance to win over Usyk.
Gassiev's problems are he doesn't jab enough, his head is too stationary, and he gets jabbed quite a bit. He's just 24 so he still is learning, that's where Usyk gets a big edge in experience and technical ability.
Uysk has to avoid body shots at all costs, he needs all his stamina for this fight. He needs to consistently pump out his jab which Gassiev is a bit prone to being hit with to keep him from setting up any offense.
If Usyk fights Gassiev the way he did Briedis I think he'll lose. He has to hurt Gassiev as well with something and I'm not sure he's got the power to do so after seeing Gassiev walk through all his opponents' power with no problem.
