The point these people are making is give Canelo hundreds of millions of dollars in a huge global fight and share a tenth of the amount. Do you people really believe one fighter deserves all that money just because you hate the other fighter? Makes no sense.
Does anybody have an idea what the attendance was at the live gate?
19k not a sell out. There were literally thousands of tickets left unsold at the time the event started. Probably ended up being a whole lot of free tickets comp'd out. K2 has NOT released the live gate figures. Only way to tell how many tickets they actually sold vs how many were comp'd is by live gate. But looking at how bad the PPV did and how that will be used against K2 in negotiations I think it's 50/50 K2 ever releases those live gate numbers.

Rafael reported like 19,600 or something like that......
19,939 people. Almost complete.
Obviously another made up number.
We probably won't know anything close to reliable for another week.
200k would be a great number.
truth is we wont ever get a "reliable" number. HBO doesnt release numbers anymore, whatever number K2 releases will be assumed to be inflated, and whatever number Glaser posts will be assumed to be low-balled.
Bottom line is the haters will still think they are witty and will make 100 retarded threads about "96k" or "B-side" or whatever. None of us will know the actual number, and none of our opinions will mean diddly squat when Gomez and Loeffler are negotiating.
But for what its worth, several people at Winghouse told me the place was pretty crowded, and all but 2 or 3 of the 50 tvs were showing the fight. Thats a pretty good sign that there was at least SOME public interest in the fight.....
If it does 200k+ he definitely deserves a split of the purse, 40 is fine. Jacobs is unknown and didnt seem to bring any fans, Alvarez only did around 250-300k (correct me if I am wrong) vs Smith so they are close. Maybe even 50-50 if its near 250k and above.
Lord you are an idiot do a poll and ask everyone who his bigger name and draw in the US Jacobs or Smith. Jacobs who you can find all his fights all aired live in the US he was part of a big push by Showtime the year before with his own all access show leading into the Quillen fight. Has headlined numerous HBO/Showtime cards. Smith complete unknown never fought on US soil NEVER fought on US TV almost no one here had seen him fight before Canelo. And that was never billed as Canelo's biggest fight of his career. And still he did 300k. Jacobs is closer to Khan then he is Smith. And against Khan a fighter who ACTUALLY fans have seen fight before drew 600k PPV buys. Jacobs was billed as the biggest fight of GGG's entire career but lets compare to Canelo's worst name fighter in the last 5 years? Not Khan fight and damn sure not the Chavez fight which likely draws close to 1m PPV buys. Canelo fighting Smith is on Par with GGG vs Wade. Difference is Canelo is so big he can fight a Wade type unknown fighter and draw 51,000 fans and 300K PPVs. While GGG when he fights these type guys can't get on PPV and has to give away a ton of free tickets. GGG's best PPVs are lower then Canelo's worst. He is not getting 40% and shouldn't. GGG can either take the 15m offer on the table or keep fighting guys for around 2m.
Why would anyone celebrate this PPV flopping? The sport isn't helped when the boxer that gets the most press and pub has his PPV flop. I may not be a ggg fan but I purchased it and had people over to watch.
I want the sport to grow its fanbase.
I'd have guessed it did 100k+, but then again it was March Madness opening weekend so my assumption is the casuals passed on this PPV.
Seems like hardcore fans would still push it past 100k, but I'd be surprised if it did 200k cuz the price of the PPV seems high for either guys star power, foreign A side guys have a difficult time getting fans to part with their money and even a lot of hardcore's don't give a f#ck about lil guy fights so Gonzalez vs the Thai guy didn't move the needle at all I'd assume.

Pretty much how I feel about the subject. Never understood why people claiming to be boxing fans get excited about poor rating from good events. It's almost like they're celebrating the demise of the sport....
The majority of posters on this forum are not boxing fans and the fact that they celebrate poor PPV numbers because they don't like a particular fighter proves that point. The majority have one or two favorite fighters and there objective Is to argue and call other members names In order to defend that particular fighter. It's the same scenario day In and day out on here.
I pay for it because I see value in it and want to support it. I dont buy EVERY ppv, but if its a good matchup im happy to support it because if we dont, then the revenue wont exist to make future matchups.
Premium matchups cost money. you guys complain all the time about the GGG-Monroe or GGG-Wade type fights, but thats what you get off-ppv these days. Like it or not, thats how it is.

twitter is abuzz right now. Lil g should take the flat fee after he was exposed by chinny jacobs.
Pirog would have koed lil g if they ever fought.
"danny not gonna get pade now doe!"
$64.95 is too much and nobody really cares about Chocolatito or anyone else on the undercards. Who is paying when there are dozens of free streams?
