if pac had been given the decision against floyd that he deserved would you be saying hes not the best? remember he landed the much better punches against floyd. i know floyd still "outboxed" him because of....and also because of....and don't forget floyd did.....and all that equals outboxed but lets pretend boxing is based on clean punches for one post. A 38 year old Manny Pacquiao is not past his prime?!? Dude he's a shell of himself. Which admittedly is still pretty damn good -- but he ain't close to what he used to be. The brutal JMM KO along with his very advanced age has combined to make Manny a very, very different fighter than he once was. He still has the same speed, he still boxes from angles, he still throws a lot of punches, he's still fighting at the same weight so he's in shape to go 12 rounds, he still gets hit the same, the only difference I see is that once the PED's was a topic he has had 0 KO's and got KO'd....

Anyone who believes that Thurman, Brook or Spence are the best guys at 147 are deluded. They are solid prime WWs for sure, but they have not produced at the very highest championship level. It is actually a very valid post - Manny has moved around the divisions and has not always taken on many natural 147 guys at their prime but you can also make a very strong case against Floyd on that basis as well. Bradley is one of the very best WWs (easily on par with Thurman, Brook, Spence) and Manny has beaten him at least twice.

The only time anyone questioned Manny's status or standing in the division is when he lost to Floyd. Manny was top tier before they fought, somehow shot to he'll when they fought, then somehow miraculously back to top tier once he returned. I just hope Manny fights the Thurman/Garcia winner or the Brook/Spence winner so we can get back to having 1 ww king like we had for so long.

Lets be honest. If Thurman or Spence or someone had beaten Bradley and Vargas back to back, imagine the hype?!? - The difference is that Manny is an ATG and set a high standard early on that it's hard to live up to it. It was the same with Floyd, he could beat very good fighters and get no credit for it where as other fighters would be the best thing since sliced bread with those wins. Manny isn't what he was, but i doubt you're beating Bradley or Vargas back to back unless you're a top notch fighter. I think Khan is going to be in deep in this fight. Spence is 21 fight in.

Whether you believe he's passed his prime or not he still has bags of ability and has very solid wins over strong fighters such as Bradley and a very game Vargas who impressed me. He's adapted his game now as he doesn't have the legendary stamina he once did but now he's a phenomenal boxer and Mayweather explained the traps he saw (and scuffed out I must say) which make Manny great. Ultimately, based on history and recent performances; Manny is now the best welterweight in the world unless someone proves otherwise by beating elite competition and proving it. Khan is a Top Ten WW. Algieri was a Top Ten JWW. Vargas was/is a Top Ten JWW/WW. Bradley was/is a Top Ten JWW/WW. Floyd was a Top Ten WW. I don't understand the issue of "oh, manny hasn't fought legit WW's" That is legitimately the stupidest f*cking argument you could make.

He's not better than Kel Brook or Errol Spence. Maybe not even Thurman or Porter at this stage of his career. His resume's better, but somebody like Amir Khan & Tim Bradley is up his alley. Guys who were moving up from 140. He hasn't fought the big guys in the division (other than Floyd who beat him)

Well I've certainly had fun reading everyone's opinions, solid replies and unusually civilised by NSB standards

He might be the 2nd best but Spence is my choice for best welterweight.
