He hasn't beaten anyone in the top 20. Only time he fought someone ranked he lost. He goes 10 and 12 rounds with local level british fighters proving he really has no power. Yet some people feel he can beat ggg and degale. Has there ever been a fighter in the history of boxing who's never beaten a ranked fighter in his division and people believe he can beat fighters in the p4p list? I say he wins as biggest hypejob of boxing.
Eubank is overrated. His dad is the one that does the most damage saying how his son can beat anyone by knockout. even Andre ward came out his dumb dad's mouth as a potential victim of his son. Not to mention GGG as well when he's clearly running from him
meh. he got a late start in boxing and his people are trying to protect him. heck, the kid's father manages him, and he was a very good, if not a great fighter in his day.
i don';t think he's a hype job. there's just not that much hype. what he is is protected, and honestly with good reason. he does not have a great defense or set of boxing skills. he is still learning. he's got talent and earning potential that you risk with a golovkin fight this early in his career. when his athleticism fails golovkin is going to shorten his career, maybe even end it for good.
i just don't like his father acting like eddie hearn was the reason the fight didn't happen. eubanks dad priced his son out of that fight. he made a series of demands that sought a better deal than freaking joshua, arguably the biggest potential star in boxing right now, was getting. eubanks sr was just trying to protect somebody he cares about.
hes rubbish and i said this before the saunders fight. If you have no footwork and no defence you are never going to be a world class fighter. People get too impressed with his training compilations on instagram.
^^^^^^
This, Eubanks should be judged on the level of his opposition, which frankly is sh1t.
The Instagram fanboys believe anything that him or his father say/tweet.
The same if idiots that hate on Saunders, hype Eubanks.
Despite the fact BJS was the best Eubanks faced, and Eubanks lost that fight.
NSB logic in full retard mode.
Wilder is a bigger hypejob, but Eubank is definitely in the conversation.
The amount of hypejobs in boxing today is staggering.
Try compiling a list of who you think are the top 15 fighters in the world, and then ask, who has he beaten? It's amazing just how thin the resumes are in 2017.
He's judged unfairly cause of his annoying dad. But that aside, he trains like a monster, his fights are ****ing exciting and he fights with ridiculous intensity. His physical characters are phenomenal and of course he thinks he can beat GGG, id he said no he should just retire. Very good fighter and I like him, treated way too harsh by some.
If it wasn't for his dads name and his father always trying to grab attention, we probably wouldn't even be talking about him. He certainly wouldn't be ppv either, not that he is.
He's a just above average fighter that hasn't been tested.
I would love to see him get KTFO on Saturday.
He is definitely over hyped. More importantly he is definitely very good. He fought Saunders in his first 12 rounder and paced it wrong. If his dad would take a step back I think he could win world titles at MW and SMW. He needs to fight a lot more though and I blame Sr for that.
He's fought one really good fighter and lost. Saunders did win that fight, i actually believe Saunders got complacent in that fight because it was so easy at first, that's his own fault of course but i believe his overall boxing skills are just a much higher level than Eubank Jr, when Saunders is at his best anyway.
Eubank has awful balance and footwork and as long as that's the case, i believe good level fighters with very good fundamentals like Saunders can beat him and would again.
Don't get me wrong, Eubank is a good fighter, seems a very good athlete, quick and strong but there's a lot more to boxing than that. He seems to fight at 100mph and has no real ring IQ, i don't think he's a natural boxer but he's a natural athlete. I think skilled guys with a good IQ will show the difference in the end.
What I don't like is how eubank has been deemed a worthy opponent for GGG, like they would give GGG credit for beating eubank? Why would GGG get credit when eubanks claim to fame is losing to bjs? Yet people expect us to believe GGG would get vcredit and eubank wouldn't be classed as bum!
But I like eubank and he has ability. His resume is stareing closer to bum than atg status.. But he has ability and potential.
I'd probably agree with you based on that ITV deal and amount of interest he gets.
But to be honest - hype is GOOD for boxing.
I wish more fighters were hyped unproven or otherwise. You do feel sometimes that fighters aren't just made in the ring and that a certain amount of hype takes them to that next level.
I was actually watching an Andre Ward interview earlier and he was charming, engaging, insightful, and bright. I always thought he must be as boring as some of his fights were - literally, changed my opinion today. Someone somewhere messed up with Ward. No hype. He became defined entirely by what he was in the ring. Often beating more popular fighters in a safety first manner. I know he wants to be come across as conspicuously introverted but more should have been made to actually sell him. He's probably the best fighter in the sport.
Mikey Garcia looked sensational in his last fight. Why wouldn't one of the major networks get behind him and create a superstar?
