The IBO Thread: Where do you rank their belts/champs?

The WBA & WBC were created at essentially the same time (1962/1963), but their origins go back much further than that. The WBC was created by the NYSAC, EBU and others that had been regulating the sport for decades. The EBU was originally formed as the IBU in 1910 and the NYSAC began in 1920. The NYSAC was very powerful and with most of the biggest fights taking place in New York, the NYSAC had the influence to determine "world" champions. The commissions of the other states didn't want New York to have all the power, so they teamed up to create the NBA in 1921, which crowned "world" champions as well. So it's debatable as to which is the oldest organization because while the WBA was created in 1962, one year before the WBC in 1963, the WBA was born out of the NBA while the WBC was formed by the NYSAC, EBU and others. Since the NYSAC was formed in 1920, one year before the NBA in 1921, and since the EBU was formed in 1910 as the IBU, the WBC's claim to determining "world" champions traces back further than the WBA's. Also, since the WBC has the lineage of both the NYSAC & IBU, while the WBA only has the lineage of the NBA, the WBC has a much greater claim to being the true world championship. The IBO is like the WWF Hardcore Title in the late 90s. People have it and fight for it but no one cares enough about it. PS. Isn't there 2 other similar belts. The WBF and the IBC or something like that?

If people wern't lazy, we would all write a letter to GGG's management and the man himself asking him to drop the IBO belt. If he calls himself a man of principle, then make a statement to the boxing world that although i want all the belts, this one is garbage. Enough public pressure and it's well possible. Look at what happened in Tunusia, Egypt and Syria. The people get what the people want!!

It's not really considered legit. I consider it a good belt to hold though. You won't get stripped shadily. You don't get forced into situations like with the others. Its the only belt I'd fight for personally. They are called mandatories.

Don't give a fook who has the belt and I don't recognize it at all. If it was entirely removed I literally wouldn't think about it for one second.

It's not a legit belt, but the IBO has some legit champions right now in the upper weight classes: winner of Joshua/Klitschko at HW, Huck at 200, GGG at 160, Lara at 154 Right now, it has the status the WBO had in the 1990s
