In your opinion, when you see a boxing fan that only supports 1 race/ethnicity of fighters, do you think they are racist? Or do you just not consider them a true fan?? Or do you just believe everyone has the right to support who/what they want???

Hmm interesting. Well if anything it definitely shows a lack of intelligence. Very crude logic/thinking if you could even call it that. :lol1:

Absolutely it is.
There is nothing wrong with rooting for your flag or country, but there is wrong, and foolishness in thinking your nations product is better than others, solely based on the fact that it's your nations product. That's flawed logic, it's foolish, and when it is true, it certainly has nothing to do with a flag or nation, but with the individual, their talents/gifts/drive, the trainers, promoters, etc.
If you are going to be selective as a fan, as least back it up logically, or expect to be ridiculed and disrespected at every turn, especially from me, the toe to toe poster kingpin.
No. If you from Brazil you support Brazil in the World Cup. If you from Cuba you support the Cubans in the Olympics. If you from LA you support the Lakers and Dodgers.
So why should it be different in boxing? I have no problem with Ricans pulling for Ricans, Mexicans pulling for Mexicans, Brits pulling for Brits, etc. I may not put much weight on their opinions but who cares about that stuff? It's just a sport.
Like I said above, it matters if your love for your nations fighters skews your perception/opinion that they are better than others, solely because of something like a flag, region, or race.
The problem is people here don't root for their "own fighters" while remaining objective about the landscape of the sport.
Why are guys like me a dying breed?
I was technically born in the USA, but I have never supported a fighter just for that reason.
In fact, I don't know any USA fighters I like right now, other than maybe Wilder.
I love Fury, GGG, Lomachenko, Rigo, Kovalev, JMM, Maidana, Yaegashi, and everyone else in my sig list.
Why in heavens name would I root against any of those guys, talk bad about any of those guys, or rate them incorrectly, just because I am not Japanese, British, Kazahk, Ukrainian, Cuban, etc?
The less objective you are as a fan, the more you limit your exposure to the sport, the less reliable you are as a "source" or scorer, and the less respect you get on NSB.
'wraps has spoken.
Now this pisses me off.
Could it ever be so possible that Stevenson does look like a fvcking monkey? Kovalev's trainer is black ffs, that and have you ever watched any interviews with JDJ? The man is a self-assured individual, I highly doubt he'd train Kovalev if Kovalev was actually a racist. Pathetic man. Just because Kovalev doesn't respect Pascal and fvcking Monkeyson, doesn't mean he has a bias against blacks... those two cvnts literally trash talk him.
You should probably pay attention to the relationship Bhop and Kovalev have, they're good friends and guess what? Bhop is black.
Cut the crap
B...But he has b-black friends doe!
LMAO, shut the f*ck up with that shyt. Ain't nobody fall for that trick anymore.
I see how you're only bringing up the minor racial shyt that Kovalev said. When it's been reported that in a couple of Russian interviews he openly calls blacks racial slurs and talks about how he doesn't like "bad ones".
Take a look in the mirror sometime. Surely you should be able to afford one?
There are pretty much zero native boxers. So whatever point you're trying to make is falling flat on its face. I like European boxers, black American boxers, Mexican boxers, a few Puerto Rican boxers (there aren't that many to begin with as compared to Mexico). My favorite boxer of all time was a black Brit who fought for Canada in the Olympics. So omawale turd...do us all a favor and shut up. Toodles.
HBO has been a lost hope for many, many years now. Having two bigots in Lampley and Merchant run the broadcast stuff just shows how HBO truly feels and what agenda they want to push. Fans know it, fighters know it, promoters and managers do too. That's why HBO hardly promotes black fighters anymore. They are all gravitating towards Haymon/PBC, a place that will take care of them instead of criticize and ridicule them. HBO would rather showcase the Eastern Euro/Russian types and that's not a problem, but they should have let it be known a long time ago. They don't care about American boxing anymore.Or it's because American boxers have been absolutely terrible for the past decade.
After Floyd, we have Ward who's been inactive, and Wilder who's overhyped, overprotected trash talking little diva.
But feel free to come up with more conspiracy theories, you're good at them.

Don't feel bad. Used to be that Hopkins was a racist because of the "Never lose to a white boy" comment. That was business Hopkins. Real Hopkins is the guy who used to visit that sick young boy and bring him to fights. That sick little Caucasian boy. He's also the guy who created the Make a Way foundation. People get too caught up in bull****.
I personally believe the real racists are the ones that constantly deny the fact that racism is prevalent not only in this sport we love, but in the world in general.
We know for a fact how Kovalev feels about blacks, yet some of his deepest irrational fans will go through harms way to defend his statements and actions, to just paint a picture of a non-racist. Those are the real racists.

My thoughts...
I only root for/watch fighters from my country= Not racist per say, but very lame and hard for me to understand.
I only root for people/watch people the same race as me= Borderline racist to me. If you put two guys in the ring that you know nothing about other than race and you can immediately say "I'm rooting for the (enter race here) guy", I feel its a bit racist. And lame.
Its all really strange to me. I can't see how you can fully enjoy sports if you have to be a homer all the time. Its like your mind has been made for you. But then again, as Americans we are not really raised with the whole "Floyd winning brings glory to me and my country" mentality. Maybe because we don't compete in as many global sports we are less prone to being nationalistic.
"That's an HBO thing perhaps. They first sucker Kovalev to post such a picture and then have him play the script as they advice him that they will handle the damage control and give him a 100K bonus for just doing it but keep it non-disclosed." -Freddie Roach

That's how I decide who's racist. They deny it...meaning they acknowledge it and don't want to admit it. Or they are sheltered.
I don't see anything wrong with supporting fighters from one nationality or ethnicity though.

Says the guy who only likes and roots for one race of boxers. Nice job. Jerk.

Racist hell no but quite possible the person is a bigot.
Those who support fighters because they're the same race and colour and ONLY those kinda fighters, are undoubtly a bunch of racist ****s.
I think that's actually the summarized definition of racism...
Well, I certainly think you shouldn't root for boxers based on their racial lines. But obviously there are ignorant people out there and boxing does tend to attract a lot of bigots for fans. Nationality is another story because of course you're gonna root for the "house" guy, unless you don't really care about that stuff. Like another poster had mentioned above, if you're in LA you're gonna be a Laker fan. That's just the way it is.

No, as long as you don't spout false superiority while gradually belittling the others.
Not sure why anyone would be like that. but there are people like that or close to that within this forum.
