Porter has shown that he can be countered coming and all it takes enough power to make it count (such as in the Kell Brook fight). Thurman has the power and handspeed to make it count.
Not sure how Thurman can handle aggressive opponents like Porter but he's definitely gonna need better footwork and body movement if he wants to get away from Porter's own hard shots.
Thurman's first real step and we'll get to see if he is worth all the hype and just how real he really is. Shawn Porter has a chance to get a second "name" scalp in the span of a year and really put himself in the running for a big fight.
I know both guys are in their 20s but it seems like a real cross roads type of match up. I like it.
I have a feeling this is one of those anticipated fights that becomes a snoozer.
Thurman pot shotting on the backfoot trying to avoid Porter's lunging headbutts.
That doesn't sound exciting to you, bro?
Man if this is true it is a great 50/50 fight.
Fights like this is what the welterweight division needs.
My initial feeling is that Thurman wins.
War boxing!!!:boxing:
If this fight gets confirmed I'll be very pleased. Thurman's step up is long overdue, but I'm glad it looks like it's happening. As for the fight itself, I can see Porter's workrate being too much, but it'll be competitive throughout.

with posts like this I'm going to root for Auburn!
It's always good when two closely matched fighters take a risk and face each other.
While Porter's style isn't always pleasing on the eye, it's effective, and it will be interesting to see how Thurman deals with it.
A 50/50 fight for me, i'm slightly leaning towards Thurman though.
The only two guys who weren't afraid to take on another killer. I love boxing!
Big fan of Shawn Porter. He's fought a good run of fights in the past couple years. And Thurman has been waiting for a fight like this.
Sucks that it's not on nbc. I think a lot of people would watch it
Yeah seems Wilder-Jennings is going to be on Showtime as well from Barclays. How crazy would it be if those were PBC fights?
