It is optional at this point! 160 is where the money at for him, so I think staying at 160 for now could be more profitable for now because him vs Cotto or Canelo are bigger match ups and that is why the fans are calling for MORE. After he cleans up 160 then he can jump to 168 if he decides, would have to take a fight or 2 to see how he does at 168 before jumping in with somebody the caliber of a Andre Ward Moving up is Option it is not required like some fans are trying to make it.

GGG made $1.5 Million, not including international fees, for the Monroe fight. I think he would be happy earning over $2 Million total per fight for 4 fights per year. Golovkin is a BOXER, a FIGHTER. He is not satisfied by sitting on his ass and fighting once or twice a year he lives in the ring. Once he unifies the titles, he won't have to go looking for opponents, they will be lining up to try and win his titles and GGG will be the only game in town. His career not mine. Hes in a tough position. He's clearly staying at 160 hoping to get Cotto or Canelo. Cotto will never fight him and Canelo wont fight him anytime soon. By the time the Canelo fight happens if ever he'll be at least 35. Which fights is he going to take in the interim that are compelling? People say Lee, Lemeiux, Quillin, etc but none of those fights are all that likely either and even theyre made he's a heavy favorite. He's going to end up fighting Willie Monroes, Tureno Johnsons, etc.

Who's he cherrypicking? He's a middleweight who want's the historic belt and money that comes with Cotton or Canelo. I totally agree..It's nothing against 3G it's just I'm ready to see him in some really good fights and Cotto and Alvarez do not seem to want none.. This. I love the guys style I have him on my favorite fighter list for a reason. But I'm tired of mismatches. FOTY candidates are never mismatches, they're tough fights that are incredibly tough to score, that's what I like to see.

He's the mandatory for Cotto's title so why would he? He's either going to force that fight or take step aside money and force a fight with the winner of Cotto-Canelo.
