Watching ESPN First Take, SKIP seems to feel that Hagler was overhyped, just a puncher.
Is there any merit to it?
Ali, Pep and Whitaker had just as good defensive skills as Mayweather, If not better. That puts your Mayweather "by far" theory to rest.
Robinson, Armstrong and Tyson had just as good offensive skills as Pacquiao, If not better. That puts your Pacquiao "by far" theory to rest.
Muhammad Ali's entire strategy was to let his opponents punch themselves out on his head and body.
That's all I needed to read of your ridiculous opinion to dismiss you as a troll.
One of boxings biggest punch bags rated against the best defensive fighter of all.
And Tyson sure, why not. Robinson? Better offensive fighter than PAc?
GTFOOH! :lol1:
The guy fought guys over a can of ****ing soup for Christ sake! :lol1:
The fact that he fought really hard punchers like Hearns and Mugabi, and only went down once IN HIS WHOLE CAREER?
it wasnt even a legit knockdown, it was a slip when he got sloppy and missed a big shot over the top

That right there should tell people exactly how much Skip knows about boxing. Not a damn thing.
Well they LOOK worse on film.
And their records READ worse.
So I dunno what basis in reality your statement has.
Mayweather is by far the best defensive boxer in history.
Pacquaio is by far the best offensive fighter in history.
Now how the hell can you dispute that!

Answer: Toss up
It is difficult to compare the two. I think both are great, but Marvin had quite a consistent run with the middleweight title.
I wouldn't hate if someone disagreed, Manny indeed may be "better" than hagler, its a matter of opinion about eras too. Most would agree better competition in the 80's, but better atheletes now perhaps.
Even during his drug fueled days Pernell Whitaker is head and shoulders above Pacquiao.
You can't just type something and make it true.
Not even close, Pacquiao much the superior fighter with the superior record.
I rate Pac slighty higher than Hagler.
I rate Pac as the greatest southpaw boxer of all-time, followed very closely by Sweet Pea, and again veyr closely by Hagler.

Errr...
Canelo has NEVER BEEN STOPPED! So how can you claim that Hagler has a better chin?
Hagler faster?
Anybody can pull up a video of Canelo on the mitts and see immediately there's hardly ANY boxers capable of such swiftness as that at that weight and any who are are ALL from the current or recent eras.
It's just that nothing you said has any relevance to reality!
The fact that he fought really hard punchers like Hearns and Mugabi, and only went down once IN HIS WHOLE CAREER?
Manny's overhyped. He's never had to face anyone like Tommy Hearns or Ray Leonard. Same can be said about Mayweather.
He's smaller than Floyd, so why would he have to??? Floyd is naturally bigger, and his style is suited for higher weight classes.
Pacquiao is the greatest southpaw fighter ever.
Hard for anyone to disagree with that one.
The main reason Hagler was as good as he was, like Holyfield, was because of his very solid chin.
That aside, he was not THAT amazing.
Please don't try to over-glorify a boxer that I really like. guys
The man (Hagler's) accomplishments speak for themselves. He doesn't need any mythology to be great.
