Is he a better fighter now after his two bouts with Floyd Mayweather, Has he learned from those fights or has it taken something out of him
Do you rate him as a top 5 Welterweight or do you rank him lower
He'd have a 50/50 fight with Brandon Rios. That's where he ranks as a fighter. Think about it.
He's the most plodding fighter at WW besides Rios. The guys foot work is ridiculously uncoordinated for a pro athlete. He packs a mean punch though.
But he gave Floyd his toughest fight so he must be a great tough threat, that's what Floyd fans tell me.

Hes ranked way to low by the ring. 9? You give Mayweather his hardest fight in years, and have 4 impressive wins leading up to that and you get shelved at 9? Robert Guerrero is ahead of you? PLease.
I think current Maidana walks through everyone at WW but Pac and May. Bradley fight would be good because hes tough and athletic but he can also be drawn in to wars.
Are you kidding me? Bradley, Brook, and Thurman would handle the guy. He's on the Diego Chavez tier of fighters.
That might be unfair, I think Alexander just has his number. As for the bold he is definitely one of of them, until he beats Porter, Brook, Thurman, Danny Garcia or Bradley...I don't care for him.
the broner win is on par with most of those guys you mentioned, bradley/danny being the top ones.
He's the most overrated fighter on this forum. I'm not going to rate him until he wins a round against Devon Alexander.

Marcos Maidana has never been an elite fighter in my opinion. What he has been is an elite entertainer. Someone who is always willing to go in and give you his best, and fights toe to toe with the best of them. This is all you can ask of the guy, and why he always has my attention when he announces fights.
Perfectly put, could not have put it any better myself.
I think he has a great chance of Beating Garcia,Thurman or Khan later on this year, regardless of the outcome, it will be an exiting fight against any of those 3 names.
There's a picture of Floyd missing his tooth. Why would Floyd have Vaseline in his mouth :dunce:

Pwned.
Might be Ellerbe anticipating the after party.
I rate him as the fourth third best welterweight behind Mayweather, Pacquaio and Bradley. Following Maidana on my list are Marquez, Brook and a tossup between Khan and Thurman.

You act like Maidana let himself go like Hatton did after retirement. He can still blast himself into shape and plow through the division.
Not at all. I'm just saying that he couldn't fight Khan in May/June because I don't think he'll be able/want to get in optimal shape.
Hes obviously not elite with manny/floyd. But hes right there in the mix with the other 2nd tier of WW's like: Bradley, thurman, danny, khan, guerrero, alexander, porter, brook etc.
with garcia in his corner hes dangerous, id rate him top 10 im sure if focused he could beat alot of the top WW right now but hes chilling with that cash
Thurman hasnt been in the kind of fights Chino has been, let alone won against top guys. Khan has been going down hill for a few years now with some awful decisions for whatver reason. I'd put Maidana ahead of both.
Well said. Great post.
I've liked how Khan's movement is more controlled now, he used to bounce around in circles for no reason, there seems to be more method to his madness now. Though Maidana uses his jab better now, Khan has started to move his head better (As shown in the Alexander fight) and I think that he'll be too elusive this time around. This fight would've been a good one to make if Maidana stayed in shape so he could fight in May/June.

The improvements Maidana made would apply far better against Khan, the fact that he doubles/ triples the jab while concealing the right hand as he presses forward. The fact that Maidana minimizes himself as a target by getting low, how he is able to use his free hand in the clinches better, I don't see Khan dealing with that.

It'd be a more competitive fight this time, but I don't buy the opinion that Maidana is a totally different animal now and would be the favourite against Khan and Alexander. I would actually favour both to beat him, especially Khan

I rate him about 7 or 8 Really good fighter but has obvious flaws that most of the top fighters would take advantage of. Right now I rank Pacquiao, Mayweather, Marquez, Bradley, Thurman, Brook, and Kahn above him and I would most of them to beat him.

Maidana is a much different fighter now, not all fighters can improve so dramatically or want to. There is a night and day difference between Post-Garcia Maidana and Pre-Garcia Maidana.
It's like, people don't even pay attention, it's laughable when people bring up past fights like the Khan fight or Devon fight like that has some sort of bearing on what would happen today. Especially since Khan and Devon have arguably regressed or stayed the same.
There is a difference but it's no night and day. Maidana isn't an inside fighter, Alexander isn't either but because of his quicker hands he will always get off first and tie up before Maidana can do anything. Maidana still punches too wide that Devon will smother him. I'm not denying that Maidana has improved but it's simply not enough. That much is obvious really.
I rate him as the fourth third best welterweight behind Mayweather, Pacquaio and Bradley. Following Maidana on my list are Marquez, Brook and a tossup between Khan and Thurman. Hopefully, some of this will be sorted out this summer if we get to see Maidana, Khan or Thurman fight each other and see Brook vs Marquez.
lmfao what happened to Guerrero being the best after Pac and Floyd? You said that just a week ago...
