Mexico is starting to flood the scene with duckers and cherry pickers. You got Leo asking for ludicrous paydays to duck the #1 guy in the division. Canelo, starving himself and fighting at catchweights because he doesn't want to move to 160 and get his arse handed to him by GGG or even Quillin smdh. Gilberto Ramirez is an exciting prospect but has 31 fights and not even 1 good name on his resume. Mickey Garcia retired from boxing for the last year cause Gamboa asked to fight him, even thought about dropping his promoter.
Mares gets KO'd and looks like he turned 40 over night then goes under the radar and fighting on undercards. Also, what the **** happened to Jhonny Gonzalez?!? Over in Mexico fighting cement mixers, outhouse diggers and over the hill champions, he hasn't fought anyone relevant since winning his belt. Why does he get a pass?
What happened to this generation of fighters from Mexico? Why aren't they fighting all comers? Discuss.
I would have loved to see Salido vs. Jhonny. This fight could still happen at 130. Jhonny said he could possibly move up in weight so if Salido beats Martinez, why not?
What do you think about that fight?
Excellent fight but unless Salido comes out missing a piece of him from the Martinez scrap, I give Gonzalez little to no chance. Why? Because unless Salido's chin comes out cracked from the Rocky fight I don't see Gonzalez being able to evade Salido long enough to secure a victory. I honestly believe it will be a replay of the Israel Vasquez fight with Jhonny dictating the pace and keeping Salido at the end of his jab and hook.. then BOOM, Salido lands one on the inside after managing to slip past the jab and Gonzalez reverts to his Bambi impersonation. Keep in mind, Salido has one of the deadliest overhand rights in the sport... if a prime JuanMa succumbed to it I am sure Jhonny would too.
Russel Jr is a more technically gifted fighter than Roman, but Rocky has the power to finish the job Terdsak had started. In other words, I think Salido is going into a much tougher fight than Gonzalez. It sucks the fight didn't happen much sooner and at 126. However... there's always Castellanos vs Gonzalez! I really think Castellanos is the new Salido :lol1: Except instead of throwing reckless overhand rights he shoots awkward uppercuts from long range from both hands lmao. Either fight would be an all out battle.
Perfectly put and well executed points.
Jhonny Gonzalez is fighting a strong name next like you said and throughout his career he has faced the best opposition out there. Did he win them all? Nope, his chin always gave out... Even when he was schooling his opposition. But he takes risks and sometimes they come back to bite him in his glass chin. His resume is quite deep though, he has fought Hasegawa, Nishioka, Penalosa, Abner Mares, Ponce de Leon, Israel Vasquez, Fernando Montiel among other decent gatekeepers the likes of Jorge Arce and Roger Mtagwa. Adding Russ to the list should rinse off the foulness that was Gonzalez vs Arce :lol1:

LMAO absolute bull****. We should have a thread based on this very premise.
Mexico may produce great fighters but it's not even comparable. Just look at any top 50 ATG list and see who's usually situated on the top 5 damn near every time. African Americans thrive in the sport, whether fans like to admit it or not.
You wish!
Ali. Frazier. Foreman. Leonard. Hagler. Evander. Tyson. Whitaker. Toney. Jones Jr. Hopkins. Mayweather. Ward.
LOL
LOL Malcolm im sorry. I will put on my black power t shirt.
Ward :lol1:
Mares, Santa Cruz = Al Haymon. Santa Cruz is a joke. The man is petrified of Rigo. Mares seemed shell-shocked after getting knocked out: took a long layoff, hired Virgil Hunter, then went back to Medina. He's had two tune-up fights already and is scheduled to have a third one soon. But let's not forget that Mares has fought good opposition before.
I like Canelo's mentality, he's willing to take risky fights. He fought Trout, Angulo, Floyd and he's the one who made the Lara fight happen. However, I have to agree with you, he can't just create his own division - 155 lbs. - if he can no longer make 154 then he should fight Middleweights.
Mikey Garca is not a "Mexican fighter", but yes he did duck Gamboa and his willingness to take tough fights against elite fighters should be questioned.
Jhonny is fighting Russell next, a big step up from Arce and Atwell.

Not for nothing but the P4P number one fighter in the world today is an African American.
Like them or not African American fighters have always been consistent in the sport. Props to them, many of the ATG fighters in the sport just so happen to be African Americans.
Santa Cruz is not Mexican (crap Spanish, rally he is a US guy), plus he's a Haymon fighter.
Johnny tried to do the Mares rematch
Mares is now a Haymon fighter
So, common denominator is actually Haymon.
Once again, LSC not mexican. Canelo, Margarito, JMM, Estrada, Segura, etc. Those are Mexican.
This.
It's the "Al Haymon effect".
Why take tough challenging fights when you can fight dishwashers and make six figures? Why put your body through wars in the ring and risk permanent injuries when you can just cruise to an easy payday?
Everyone now knows what Haymon offers, and "fighters" are flocking to him. It's a pretty good deal if you are a fighter just looking to make money, but you can forget about legacy or greatness. Can't have it both ways.
This ain't about race, countries, nationalities, etc., that is exactly what they want you guys arguing about instead of the real problem - corruption, greed, and a fu cked up system that desperately needs an overhaul.
You wish!

LOL
You had your time, brotha.
GGG, Lomachenko, Kovalev and the Klitschkos will hold the torch next.
I'm a PR and in my opinion Mexico never produces cowards, most of the best warriors in boxing in the last 20 years or so have been Mexicans. Canelo can not be called a duck the kid has fought almost everyone the fans wanted him to fight. Mickey has promo issues, LSC is controlled by Haymon. The Ramirez kid is just a prospect and not claiming to be anything more than a prospect. Mares still shell shocked. IMHO coward is a word that should never be used in a conversation related to boxers. When a man quits on his stool, takes a knee or spits out his mouth piece is because he has been in a war. And in boxing a war only involves warriors.
Mexico also produced better fighters than black America.
You wish!

Finally someone airing out other groups, races, people, etc... other than African Americans. Bout damn time.
Seriously though, according to boxrec this is Mexico's top five P4P:
1. Juan Manuel Marquez
2. Canelo Alvarez
3. Jhonny Gonzalez
4. Julio Cesar Chavez
5. Leo Santa Cruz
Times are tough. That's probably a worse list than Australia's.
who composed this list? lol
salido, carlos molina, and miguel vazquez are better than the 3-5 spot.

:lol1: that list is horrible...
1. Juan Francisco Estrada
2.Saul Alvarez
3.Jhonny Gonzalez
4.Juan Francisco Rodriguez Jr
5.Carlos Cuadras
Much better and more relevant list.
