A bit concerning to listen to Deontay speak about his thoughts related to this. I am a Deontay fan, and realize he is just keeping it real here, but it's a little alarming te hear how he decribes taking Charlie in to a back alley, pulling out his piece, smoking weed, and then being a role model. I know he probably did not have the smoothest upbringing and part of his Rawness' is appealing to the fans, but this is interesting listening to him talk about his "homies going out to take care of Charlie, something serious".
In the end, it's actually pretty cool to hear someone be so real, and talk about how they feel about things without hamming it up for the camera.
It gets good at the 21 minute mark.

Whatever all you "good guys" say.
if some guy is talking sh1t to me, making racial slurs and threats against my family and then wants to get in the ring with me, I do not care about how mentally stable he is or about his physical stature, I am going to do as much bodily harm I can to this person.
Some of you people are really to much, it is always easy to judge someone but let someone answer one of your posts with a comment you do not like or insult you over the net and most posters here get highly emotional about it.
"Oh but he should of done this" stfu
That wouldn't protect him at all if Charlie Z got seriously injured and it went to court.
Honestly, the parents of Charlie Z may be counting on something like that. If they're his legal guardians and he gets himself hurt bad enough by a professional boxer they will sue, waiver or no waiver, because they have to have had Charlie Z tested and legally claimed incompetent with some type of mental illness by now. You can't really legally sign something when you're insane I don't believe so any type of waiver would likely be null and void.
Charlie gets hurt by a big-time professional boxer, they will be paying for it for a long time.
Fair points, but I don't know if mental illness precludes someone from joining a boxing gym. I imagine the waiver would have been similar to anyone who enters the gym to train. It's not like all of this transpired in the parking lot or alley. If that was the case then, yeah, the waiver would just be a piece of paper.
It wasn't the smartest thing to do, I agree...but again these are fighters. His daughter is disabled herself. Also, it wouldn't have been the first time in boxing history that some dude comes in from the street thinking he can beat a pro and ends up getting his ass kicked.
He had Charlie sign a waiver so he couldnt sue if he got hurt in the gym

By allowing that little sh*t to get into his head, it proved he's mentally weak. How could a professional athlete react like that to a troll? And the video didn't make him look good either. He wasn't even able to KO the guy.
I agree, as a pro athlete someone should have been telling him the decision to bring in Zelenoff the way that he did was completely wrong and unprofessional. As much crap as Mayweather has gotten over the years, Wilder needs to better evaluate his thought process. What's sad is, with all of his posse in the gym, not one of this jabronies would tell Deontay it's not a good idea to fight a short, 155lb mentally handicapped punk?!?
which makes wilder even more of an idiot for confronting him. ever hear of sticks n stones? hes supposed to be a professional fighter. he should have just blown it off or take it to damn court if it gets out of hand
Sticks and stones man? I get what you're saying and I'm not really disagreeing with you...but these are fighters we're talking about... not all of them are going to abide by those nice lessons.
He took the guy for a walk and let him know he wasn't playing about the threats to his family and daughter...I know a lot of people who would do the same thing. Not everyone can afford a lawyer to let someone know they mean what they say. I'm sure Charlie understood the gun more than eh would a restraining order. Hhe had a permit for the gun. He had Charlie sign a waiver so he couldnt sue if he got hurt in the gym
Um... how is Wilder supposed to know that the deranged dude doesn't have a gun himself.

To be honest, I think Charlie deserved it. If your mentally ill and people bully you for no reason, its one thing. Charlie is aggressive, and a bully. He has no problem throwing crazy haymakers at people, but as soon as he gets jabbed he calls timeouts. He throws cheap shots, and he makes disgusting comments. Forget all that understanding crap, people should not have to tolerate it.
Because he's not all there in the head and he's a fool. That doesnt answer the original question: why does a 6ft7 pro boxer need a gun for this scrawny guy. It's pathetic. It's not manly at all to beat up and pull a gun on some deranged kid half your size.

its ok with him becuz wilder is a black man. this dude only sees things in terms of color
didn't watch the vid but why does a 6'7" professional boxer need a gun to threaten charlie zelenoff
becuz he couldnt knock out the little boneyard so now hes got to resort to other means,,lol. hes a wife beating thug from the sound of things. still cant believe he couldnt kayo that little punk with a clean punch. goes to show how overrated his power probably is
What does a scrawny pretend fighter need to use racial slurs and make fun of Deontay's daughter for?
That's why Wilder beat him up in the first place. That kid was making racist remarks to him and his daughter.
crying again over race again I see. violence is fine with you when the shoes on the other foot you racist cry baby
I hope Deontay doesn't become the next Aaron Hernandez, Aaron killed someone too, and like Deontay he was a very fan friendly guy who came from a tough background and wast tatted up.
I used to like Deontay a lot, and would love to see him fight and KO Fury.
But ever since he got in trouble for beating on a woman, I started to have doubts.
And Charlie Zelenoff is clearly a mentally disturbed guy. He's not all there, so that too is disappointing that Deontay fought, and pulled a gun on?!
