I'm a member of several boxing discussion forums and I just wanted to throw this out there to gauge the response I get:
It seems to me that some of the biggest Khan detractors are also Floyd super-fans.
Although they'll never admit to it and will probably post gifs of Khan getting sparked in response to this thread as a way to change the subject, I genuinely think they fear Amir Khan and they don't wanna see him get a shot at Floyd.
They cheerlead Floyd when he says stuff like "Khan still has Garcia problems and Prescott problems"
Astute boxing analysts including but not limited to RJJ and Paulie Malignaggi have said Khan is one of the only real threats to Floyd's undefeated record.
Their favorite thing to say is that Khan should fight Thurman if he wants Floyd. This is laughable on two levels:
(1) Thurman is a totally different fighter than Floyd and even if Khan got past him, it would say nothing about how Amir would fare against Floyd. Thurman poses a threat because of his power and Khan's chin but Floyd doesn't pack that kind of power at 147 so even if he got starched by Thurman, that doesn't mean Khan would be incapable of giving Floyd a really tough fight (he would)
(2) If Khan got past Thurman, it'd be about a minute later that Floyd's e-defense squad mobilized to flood forums everywhere, sh*tting on the win and saying Thurman was overhyped and untested (the untested part is true but still), point is Khan would have no incentive to face Thurman because Thurman may not have enough résumé cred for Khan to punch his ticket to Vegas for a May showdown with Floyd by beating Thurman (this is why I believe Khan should face the Brook/Porter winner to ensure he gets the fight he so desperately wants)
Besides Golovkin (or maybe Thurman himself), or maybe Pac (but less so now, in 2014) -- none of whom are on the horizon as Floyd opponents -- who else from 140-154 poses even a modest chance of giving Floyd trouble besides Amir Khan? Nobody. So it makes sense that fans who jerk off to Mayweather's unblemished record love to hate on Khan and would love to see someone clear him out of Floyd's path
...What?
I think it is laughable when people try to categories fans, it is the dumbest sh1t ever, so let me get this right, you think only Mayweather fans don't like Khan?

How about the fact that despite him getting knocked the **** out he still has these fans who for some reason tries to put his name among Mayweather and Pacquiao and he is not on that level, NOT EVEN CLOSE! Khan is a solid fighter, his speed is very impressive and he looks very good in the first 3-4 Rounds of his fights he looks UNBEATABLE sometime...until the punches start flying back at him and his opponents start timing him. He is a DECENT FIGHTER with a Weak Chin, what respect are Khan fans expecting or looking for? Praise him because he is from the UK? Because he is Pakistani? Because he is Muslim? Is Khan suppose to get Special Treatment and some type of "PASS"? Like any other fight when he does well he gets credit, when he gets knocked out he gets Mocked a bit just like any other fighter.
Suppose I concede everything you just said (I don't, but just for argument's sake, let's say I do). Floyd isn't going to knock Khan out. I mean, he just isn't. Even people who don't like Khan or who really love Floyd will probably admit that if they're being honest with themselves.
Now what? You yourself just said Khan often looks unbeatable in the first 3-4 rounds of his fights. Well let's just say Khan fought Floyd and took about 3 of 4 ... or maybe even 4 of 5 rounds early ... looking utterly sensational in the process. That's still better than Canelo, Cotto, or Guerrero did, so I don't see how that's an insult to Amir Khan.
...What?

Khan backed out of Alexander fight cause Floyd and GBP PROMISED him the fight otherwise he's ready to take on Alexander. It was a mistake on Khan's part, I must say.
Who ever said Floyd promised? Now GBP is one thing but you can't put Khans backing out of the Alexander fight on Floyd.

It makes me laugh when people say Khan would be competitive with Floyd.
It would take Floyd all of two rounds to adjust to Khan's speed and start timing him.
Amir would body you inside 4 seconds Larry, you better stop talking sideways to him on twitter. He might recognise you when you ask him for that autograph and it'll be lights out Larryx.
lmao........
When Floyd decided to put the vote up,
If you want to see it like that - it's equivalent to saying Bradley ducked Khan to fight Pacquiao.
He backed out of the Alexander fight way before the vote. The Alexander fight was supposed to be in December. The vote was way after that.

will i guess that back fired on him
what about devon he backout of that fight

Khan wanted to immediately rematch Garcia and Angel vetoed it and said, "Danny knocked him out, why do we owe him a rematch ... maybe later"
And we all know Khan was willing to give away a ton of his money (50% of the UK PPV) to fight Bradley in order to unify all 4 belts at 140 (but Bradley gets a somewhat of a pass for that because he was in a bad contract dispute and couldn't fight)
You're acting like Khan never wanted any part of these guys -- that's simply not true
Haymon/Top Rank issues makes Bradley difficult now (though maybe not impossible) and Garcia is still campaigning at 140 at present.

Biscuit chin has problems with power punchers, floyd isn't one khan has superior jab, footwork, speed, power, height. Floyd won't fight guys who can catch him all night.
Khan is hated because he always act like a spoiled entitled Lil *****. Add that he is a big ass disappointment. I used to like khan and then he pull all off this ducking every threat on 147 bull**** and try to talk his way to a Floyd or pacquaio fight without earning. He just want that payday and his stupid fan are too stupid to see that. If he really want that Floyd fight that he need to either beat Bradley or garcia
and make himself relevant again. That is his problem.

Khan has heart no question. A lot of guys have heart. That doesn't mean he can beat Mayweather. One or two more good wins and he gets his chance. Why is that so hard to understand?
No I agree he needs one more quality win at 147. I don't think I ever said otherwise
The reason many don't like khan is because hes so transparent its not even funny. Promoters have been trying to set up khan mayweather for so long that's its a joke at this point. He keeps getting smashed every time he steps up yet he runs his mouth constantly about some greatness that no one sees but himself. It would not be that hard for khan to get a mayweather fight. Trash someone with a name at welter and the fights done. He already has the name and audience to make a fight but he knows (what we know) that if he gets in there with a puncher there is a huge chance hes going out on his back which is why we keep getting these freaking "light touches" as if we are supposed to be impressed that he got dropped by diaz or that he beat collazo at this stage. He has the same problem as broner and Ortiz. They are all scavengers looking for the weak links in the division at this point so they can cash out but its backfired on each of them. Add guerrerro to that list too. He obviously just wants another cash out fight.
If Khan fights the winner of Porter/Brook, I don't think you could call that a weak link by any means.

Larry will pull his hat down and start walking the other way when he sees Saj alone.
Broner ran out of the ring rather than face the music of an interview on national television after a humiliating loss (Khan never has done that). Also it should be noted that Khan was willing to fight Broner instead of Collazo on the Floyd-Maidana I undercard but Broner wasn't feeling it.
Ortiz quit (not only has Khan never quit, but he's always been stopped either on his feet or rising to his feet & had to be protected from himself. Sure he's been floored, but questioning his heart and putting him in the same category as Ortiz is utterly criminal)
