First of all, let me start off by saying I was completely wrong about this fight. I thought it was a complete mismatch and I disregarded Maidana, so well done to him for proving me wrong and making it a very competitive and close fight.
I scored the fight 6-6, but it could've gone either way. I have no problem with Floyd getting the decision, although I wasn't happy with the 117-111 scorecard, that was nothing short of a joke. I'm gonna watch the fight again sometime and score it again with a clear head, I usually score a fight differently after watching it a second time.
Anyway, to the point. What I don't understand is why people think Floyd 'adjusted' or 'figured Maidana out'? It was as clear as daylight that Maidana punched himself out, after the 5/6th roubd, he wasn't pressing or punching with the same intensity/urgency as before. He still fought well for the remainder of the fight, but he did slow down a lot, hence making Floyd's job much easier and resulting in him losing most rounds from 6-12.
I'd really like to see Floyd fight Porter next. Porter's physically bigger and stronger than Maidana, plus he's a naturally better athlete and fitter. He's also a relentless pressure fighter like Maidana, albeit a lot more skilled and complete. Really wanna see how Floyd fares against him.
Body shots if you score the body shots for maidana it's a clear win for him.
No, it's not.
Floyd smothered up nearly all of Maidana's work the last 7 rounds. If you score clean punches landing to the body or head, Floyd won a really close fight.
Naw.
Watch anytime Floyd was on the ropes after round 5. Floyd figured out how to counter him from there, and avoid most all of his punches there. And Floyd found his range with his right hands, and left hooks, he nearly him at will with those.

I agree, and I don't see how anyone who has ever watched Maidana can not agree.
Maidana always starts strong in the first half, and then takes rds off the rest of the way. That's just how he has always been. It's why he won rd 8 and rd 12, and the majority of rds 1-6 when he was fresh.
He didn't win the 12th man, lol
The first half of the round, Floyd landed ALL the clean clear punches. Maidana did better the next minute or so, didn't land too many flush shots though, then Floyd hit him with 2-3 right hands to end the round.
I don't see how anyone can score that for Maidana, unless they are bias looking for only stuff Maidana is doing.
I agree, Floyd didn't figure Maidana out, Maidana just got tired and couldn't keep his work rate up which gave Floyd a chance to counter. That overhand right is crazy but must take alot of energy to throw, I don't remember seeing many of them punches in the second half of the fight and not cause of any adjustments cause he was in the same position as he was earlier but was too tired to get them off.
Well, people that know a lot more about boxing than you or anyone else on the forum disagree, so...
Cheers for the input, man. Great contribution to the thread.
Like I said mayweather got into the fight when maidana faded like he usually does. When maidana got off first mayweather didn't know what the **** to do but lay on the ropes.
It was when maidana was taking his long breaks where mayweather was able to throw single lead punches that scored points. If maidana didn't have stamina issues he would have beaten mayweather clearly.

Thats not entirely fair, even though I think the fight was a draw, Floyd did adjust in the later rounds, and started touching Maidana to the body in the center of the ring consistently, thats one of the main reasons Marco's punch output dropped in the later rounds, he was wary of the way Floyd was digging the body.
