Seriously, as a fan of Floyd he needs to rethink his method of marketing himself. The whole "Lifestyles of the rich and famous" act gets old fast. I felt like I was watching an old episode of MTV cribs. It honestly got cringe worthy watching his parts while Chino's segments were more entertaining. Does Floyd have ANY hobbies besides boxing and blowing money away? Hell, I'd even go as far as to state Adrien Broner's all access with Maidana was more entertaining.
I believe Floyd thinks people enjoy watching ignorance (and some do) but even that act gets old fast. I'd rather watch him train and talk about his fight plan. I also enjoyed the segments he spent on his family. But the whole hood rich, ghetto fabulous act is cringe worthy and boring. And I like Floyd as a boxer.
Floyd is living the hip hop dream....which was relevant and new in the early half of the 00s, now it ain't nothing.
Even top rappers are moving away from that hoodrat image and suiting it up. Floyd is stuck in a time warp and it's not entertaining, in fact it's sad seeing a man well into his 30s dress like a 16 year old "gangsta"
How does he dress like a 16 yo gangsta? He wears brand name clothing we could never purchase
There has to be something else he can show us about his life cuz it's getting boring.
I don't think there's anything else to his life. Sometimes top athletes are like that. Makes me think he'll be around boxing one way or another forever.
I haven't watched one of his 24/7-All Access episodes in years. They're awful. I understand how they may hook first time watchers, but what kind of mental delinquent is still enthralled by a 7th series of Floyd buying a new watch? It really is lowest common denominator stuff.
That's more the networks' fault that's Floyd's though. They have the opportunity to make really interesting docs about these fighters and they produce utter sh*t 90% of the time. HBO seem to think artsy photography and montages are the same as interesting content, and Showtime just imitate them.
It is getting old...but but im used 2 it....we all know he will be in 100 shape fight night...I would love to see Kirkland with ( Wolf/50 cent) vs Floyd.
Floyd isn't going to show actual training or how hard he actually works in the gym; he wants you to think all he does is spend money and is lazy and ripe for the picking because he's complacent from his lifestyle.
Bingo, you got it
What the hell are you talking about? Manny basically made the same money in his prime and he's like the Pope, he doesn't shove the bills he's got up your ass to let you know he's rich. Plus he's got some losses on his record. Floyd probably made more but that's because he's been dominating for a lot longer and he doesn't have any losses on his record. This Cribs bull**** has nothing to do with it.
Beg to differ. Again, if we go back in time and Floyd impersonates the Andre Ward persona outside the ring versus the "Money" May persona -- do you really think he banks close to as much? It's not even in the same neighborhood.
Now I'm not saying that the persona is the lone or overriding reason that he's worth as much as he is. The number one factor in all of this, of course, is being one of the top boxers on the planet. Without that nobody gives a f**k. Otherwise Adrien Broner would be the richest fighter on the planet. Gotta be elite to be relevant and that Floyd is. But, a conservative outside the ring Floyd Mayweather achieves nowhere near the notoriety, fame, or income he has without this current persona.
Even Andre Ward has said as much. Recently Ward said that he wasn't willing to "project a certain type of image" in order to climb the heights that a guy like Floyd has (as far as purses and audience appeal goes). Kellerman also touched on this same thing in the last episode of The Fight Game.
To think that Floyd's persona, hate it or love it, didn't open many more doors for him is insane.
lol @ this thread. Yeah Floyd needs to rethink the very same marketing image he portrays that made him one of the highest paid athletes and biggest PPV star.
He's at the tail end of his career literally, and you want him to revamp his image. Showtime wants to make money, not give a certain segment of boxing fans what they want, it's clearly obvious that his money persona brings him way more money than anything else. It's simple business that you some of you guys clearly can't comprehend. There's new people tuning in fight so obviously his schtick isn't old for many.
The whole purpose of these pre-hype programs is to produce interest and $, and it has yet to fail with Floyd even with many people of these forums calling it lame and boring which isn't true for the majority of the population tuning in or detractors (who continually to inadvertently support his events).
It's like saying Kim Kardashian should stop being an attention whore, how do you think she got into the spotlight?
This is what they show of Floyd because Floyd is actually producing the show. On 24/7 Floyd was just another fighter while HBO would be producing and editing the show. Floyd had no input on 24/7. Remember when there were videos of Floyd ripping HBO for not showing what he wanted to be shown? Well, he got his wish with All Access. It sucks but this is what he wants to be shown. I wouldn't even be surprised if Floyd actually got the tapes of Maidana training and sparring.
I have to agree that the Maidana Broner All Access was much more entertaining. Broner isn't as insecure as Floyd is and that allows him to be more entertaining. Floyd is clearly insecure and showing off his valuables makes him feel better. The scene where he says he "only likes to hang out with girls" was cringe worthy, you could see it in their eyes how awkward they felt.
The only mistake was not making an epilogue for Maidana Broner, they were probably going to but Broner cut a deal with his "homie" Stephen Espinoza.
This man is living his life to the fullest. He's taking care of his family, kids and he's letting it be known, none of this could be accomplished without his faith in god. He's flashy for sure but he's earned that right. He made his own money and if he chooses to buy houses, cars, jewelry, good for him. It makes me feel good to see anybody living their life stress free, Black, White, Mexican. I ain't mad at him, it's all entertainment to me, nothing more, nothing less
I don't watch these documentary shows like 24/7 or All Access anymore.
They were interesting a few years ago, but how many times can you recycle the same stuff?
The only stuff I do enjoy is learning about the backgrounds of some of the challengers - but that is not going to pull in huge viewing figures.
It is TV for the MTV Reality TV generation, 99% style 1% actual content.
The fact of the matter is that the training and personalities of most boxers is just not that compelling, they are paid to entertain in the ring first and foremost.
Floyd goes shopping, Floyd pitty patter's the mits with uncle Rog, Floyd gets a massage from a shortie, Floyd shows off a new car...
Seriously, Floyd taking a dump would actually interest me more, I,d like to know if he wipes with a $100 or just a $50...
Oh, and one more time for the fanboys "Hardwork Dedication!"
GTFOH.
There are some really good historical books on boxing, you can learn the real sport.
Or watch Rocky, works for me.
Stay hungry brothers.
Peace.
You do realise that HBO blocked access to the Pac Bradley episode in the UK right? and probably other countries too.
Not available for south america too. Hbo it is very bad, in that sense.
But, being honest, "all access" is very entertaining for the people that is not involved in boxing. They know how to sell the fight.
You do realise that HBO blocked access to the Pac Bradley episode in the UK right? and probably other countries too.
That's only partially the reason for the HUGE difference. Keep in mind that, even other uploads of the same episodes exist, and they have small views. The reason is really just the marketing and content.
There is a reason why MTV Cribs, Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous, existed in the past and were successful. Even up til now, think about why so many millions of people sit and watch stupid award shows like the Oscars, Grammys, Emmys? Shows dedicated to celebrities who are already rich, reaping rewards in the form of trophies. :lol1:
It's retarded, but the fact remains there's a large mass of people attracted to that.
The average kid from here in L.A. still gets off on that stuff so I don't know where you guys saying it's outdated are coming from.
Being a guy who carries around stacks of $50 bills dressed like you work at McDonalds driving a Bugatti is like the dream of every average IQ teenage boy in every major city. The masses are very, very simple and the more you appeal to them the more money you make. Just look at your average laughtrack sitcom.
Bingo. Half of the people who gave him so many views weren't able to watch it on Showtime. Same dudes begging for streams
something isn't right. that's a huge difference
Yeah, even Episode 2, of All Access: Mayweather vs. Maidana, is performing well. It's presently at 150K views in less than ONE single day. It's only been up since midnight. Whereas, Episode 1 of 24/7 Pacquaio vs. Bradley 2 is at 184K after 4 weeks of existing. And Episode 2, is at 172K after 3 weeks.
The disparity in viewing numbers is worlds apart.

I felt like I was watching an old episode of MTV cribs. It honestly got cringe worthy watching his parts while Chino's segments were more entertaining. Be fair.
we have been watching Floyd's All access for years now. Naturally he's a person of habit and there's always going to be many repetitions. Floyd travels a lot when he's not training and goes to matches and does other things. problem is All Access is filmed during training where he's just in Vegas and going between home and the gym. He plays basketball but wouldnt risk that when he's training,he's so focused. His opponents meanwhile it will be the first time we are seeing anything about them. If they were to do Maidana in his next fight you would get bored of the horses and the dogs.If we did your own access we would get bored too. Bottom line is All Access is what happens when he's training.
It is lame as f**k, but at the same time it's also the allure. If Floyd dressed and lived more conservatively, and acted like Andre Ward for example -- he wouldn't be nowhere near the PPV attraction that he is. He's polarizing outside the ring. Some people love him and worship him, others despise and hate him. There's not a whole lot of in between. The way he acts and presents himself evokes a lot of hard opinions. Look we all know that Floyd is obviously an elite, elite boxer in the ring, but his style isn't exactly crowd pleasing. In fact a lot will say that he's sleep inducing in there despite how prolific he is.
But yeah, if Floyd wasn't the Floyd that we've seen since he became "Money" and dropped the Pretty Boy, he wouldn't have near the cash he has now. He'd still be a very rich man but highest paid athlete on the planet? Not even close.
He's a turd with or without HBO giving him a platform to show the world how much money he's got.

Watching Mayweather All Access is like Watching An Episode Of MTV Cribs from 2002 | BoxingScene Community
