Lets face it GGG will have no hope of knocking out the gargantuous Mexican monster Chavez when he has to move up 8 pounds. Chavez will be the much larger man, who has already felt what GGG dishes out in sparring. This is somewhat of a nightmare match up for GGG as he will be in with an opponent who can eat his heavy artillery like candy. He is still the more skillful fighter but will have to keep the legendary chinned chavez at bay over 12 rounds. Martinez was barely able to hold off this sensational locomotive , coming within an inch of losing his life in round 12 and suffering long term effects that have turned him into a mere shell of his former self. GGG's chin and stamina will be tested like never before against a rival the likes of which he has never seen before. :sombrero:
Golovkin is the same height with Martinez, but has a shorter reach. GGG doesn't box from the back foot -- he's a pressure fighter with mobile power...
Jr. is bigger in height and reach... and weight... Though Jr. is lazy -- he throws a significant lower volume of punches and shows durability...
... Therefore: they will trade a lot... With a particularity: GGG hits harder and connects better...
(GGG fought bigger guys at the amateurs...)
Golovkin and Martinez have the same reach both being one inch longer than Chavez.
A diamond chin will get you so far but imo though bigger and really tough chavez's style perfectly suits GGG ... he sure as hell won't have to go looking for him. I think GGG destroys him to the body and eventually gets the stoppage.
Power breaks chins ... kinda reminds me of ali v frazier ... ali pounding on him all night can't dent his chin ... foreman with that extra power obliterates him .... martinez pounds on chavez all night can't dent him ... but GGG...
If Golovkin does stop Chavez I expect the GGG-Hate-Patrol (people like Larry) to start bashing Chavez saying he was not in shape, he had no commitment, he took a dive…
Cant win with some people, I can't remember who mentioned this but if he is indeed stronger at 168… then I feel sorry for anyone and everyone at that weight.

Nightmare matchup? :lol1:
Chavez has a good chance of lasting the distance, but he'll take one hell of a beating in the process. He's going to get beat up badly.
A late round stoppage isn't out of the question, just matters how much Chavez' corner cares for him. He takes punches flush, no matter how good your chin is, Golovkin will land many flush shots that will do damage. Kind of a scary fight - hopefully everyone comes out being able to continue their careers.
Has Chavez Jr's body punch resistance been really tested? Because GGG will tap that body. In that sparring session GGG was just toying with Jr, he wasn't even putting power into his shots. Jr's chin is not indestructible, Martinez hurt him at times, it's just that when he's hurt he doesn't show it as clearly as other fighters.
Jr. is getting KTFO.
Chapo Guzman is in jail and is done. He will no longer threaten the lives of Chavez Jr. opponents to take it easy on him and not not him out.
Jr.'s neck is getting snapped by GGG.
If Chapo was still in power and had freedom this fight is going to the scorecards. Now that he is in jail,
GGG ko7.
book it.
Despite GGG being my avy, all bias aside, I still think he demolishes Chavez. And if their sparring footage gives us any indication of what the future beholds, it'll be quite easy.
I think it's almost impossible to KO Chavez, who'll come in the ring as a cruiserweight and has a good chin anyway. Will be interesting to see how he'll deal with that.
Chavez will back up like he did in the Sergio fight, dont see a stoppage for that reason
I can see Chavez getting outboxed pretty bad for the first two or three rounds then trying to fight with GGG in the pocket and have it go equally as bad while taking more damage and by the second half of the fight just covering up and constantly moving away like Rosado and Stevens.
I firmly believe GGG will win a UD, but I don't see how a KO is possible. Martinez hit him with everything and he laughed and danced. If GGG can get a KO it won't prove to me that he can be a star, it'll prove to me that he has the goods to become an icon.
Why does GGG need to KO Chavez JR? He is moving up in weight to fight someone with a cast iron chin. This is a money fight, and a decent win should be enough to try entice Martinez (though I Assume it is Rubio next given a win over Cotto)
If he does, then GGG is a certified monster... i've never really seen Chavez JR bothered by any punches, unless I missed a key fight of his
But I guess it can be twisted, molded or shaped in any way you like. I.e, Chavez wasn't that good anyway, Martinez softened him up, GGG only doing what hes supposed to etc.
To keep being considered a "beast" and a "killer."
