What's ironic to me is that with so many great technically sound and skilled boxers throughout history the one man who retired undefeated ( while taking on all challengers ) was Rocky Marciano. He wasn't a very technical or overly skilled boxer but he had power, heart, a granite chin, and perseverance like I've never seen. I know some may say he didn't have too many hall if fame fighters in his era and the mob controlled a lot of boxing but the fact is the guy who ran the mob said that Marcianos fights were never fiddled with like Lamotta, graziano. bc he meant that much to Italian American communities and they never wanted to smear Rocks good name. Rocky was just a beast. Look at this interview from Ali....click link below

Keep in mind he was only champion for 3 years with 6 defenses of his title. That's similar to Tyson's run before he lost to Douglas. The more championship fights you have, the more likely you are to lose, especially against great competition.
His fights didn't need to be fiddled with. He didn't fight anyone capable of beating him. His record is pretty poor, probably worse than Wlad's.
Marciano was one of the greatest ever and criminally underrated and disrespected on NSB.
So out of curiosity do you think Floyd who is undefeated and has a better resume than Rocky is even greater?
Riccardo lopez was minimumweight, rocky was heavy. Bit off a difference.
Rocky's great, period.
All the greats took something from him, ali, tyson, etc... So he couldnt be that bad.

The average NSB poster is a 40 year old 400lbs loser living in his mom's basement, you cant expect much from them. Marciano goes to show that at the end of the day boxing is about two guys beating each other and if you hit like a train, got a granite chin and a heart that barely fits inside your chest you can achieve greatness.
How many no. 1 contenders did he beat?
Not sure, but never been a big fan of the #1 contender meaning a whole lot..
Look at how many #1 contenders Wlad has fought, or Holyfield-bean,
#1 contender is usually a promotional tool for the sanctioning bodies and promoters to hype a lesser opponent as a threat, and let the cash cow champ keep winning

If you do not know who Ricardo "Finito" Lopez is, you are just a casual boxing fan.
Marciano never fought anyone in their prime
old louis, charles, moore, etc....
He left at the right time, but his record and overalll greatness is very overhyped
Unless you fight like Mayweather, Rigo, or Ward then you get no respect here it seems.
The fighters you named get disrespected because of their style. You'll never hear anyone on here call them warriors because they'd rather hit and not get hit, boxing. In order to be considered a great on here, you damn near have to die in the ring and trade blows like unskilled cavemen.

:lol1::lol1::lol1::lol1:
First of all, have you heard of ricardo lopez?
2nd of all, of course the mafia are gonna say Marciano's fights were never fiddled with, he was the symbol of italian machismo and is looked upon in reverence because of his death and the fact that the other guys you mentioned have had loses. Not to mention all of his notable wins were all against utterly past prime competition.
He also should have lost to walcott with his grotesque cut but was allowed to keep fighting by the mafia which controlled boxing back then so he can keep his undefeated streak going.
crap post all around.
