is it just me or has gbp been making some dull match ups lately? they have all this talent and names at 140-47 but they are afraid to match them up they are going to waste this hot bed of talent if they dont start having them fight each other. it just seems like they are side stepping so many big fights that could be made
GUerrero isnt going to be with GBP it seems. Khan? lol of all the good fights we've had from GBP and you're worried what Khan is doing?
Talent is talent. He has his ups and downs just like everyone else. Competition is what is needed in this sport. Not bullsh*t fights!
Thurman vs Matthysse is by far terrible in terms of matchmaking considering the loss on Lucas's part. Maidana vs Mayweather sure that is the 'big one' but to me it doesn't really interest me.
You want to see *competition* and Alexander vs Porter was exactly that. Porter was seen as the underdog and prospered using Alexanders tactics against him. Garcia vs Herrera was also another example.
With the names in their roster, GBP should have made the decisions already to kick off the year. Especially when you have fighters such as Khan and Guerrero who haven't even been in the ring for quite some time.

They were working on Thurman/Matthysse but they fell through. Matthysse has been hurt since the Garcia fight and recovering. Thurman not having a big fight lined up isn't the be all end all of GBP
Mayweather and Maidana are having their big PPV fight in like a month and a half, both welterweight champions, Garcia just fought a top fighter in Herrera, and we had Alexander vs Porter not long ago. Chill out.

They saw what happened to Broner. ..If they can keep the hype around multiple fighters without matching them together, it makes their stable look stronger then if they knock each other off. That's why we get Judah, Paulie, Collazzo now getting big fights.those guys lose, big deal, it keeps the hype going around their young studs.
Your point being? Fights should have been announced already and more specifically within the Welter weight division as it is the most interesting and most compelling. Everyone seems to be chasing a fight with Floyd and with this much talent at stake, you would want to know who can prove to be most competitive and determined.

It's only March.

It's messed up how they market fighters that are a liability and not actual talent that will prove to be fan favorites.
I mean whats happening with Keith Thurman, dude is being ducked by everyone that get their name drawn out.
Last year we got a lot of good stuff....
Mayweather fought Guerrero and Canelo. Canelo also fought Trout. Maidana fought Lopez and Broner. Broner fought Paulie. Alexander and Porter fought. Garcia and Matthysse fought. Peterson and Matthysse fought. Many others.
Thurman and Matthysse will probably fight this year, as are Paulie and Porter. Mayweather and Maidana are fighting. Hopefully Canelo and Lara will.
Most of their "stars" are on a long lay off or started fighting once a year. Recall that these so-called stars are products of HBO with GBP/Haymon match-making manipulation. Canelo, Broner, and many others. When it was time to reap the fruits, GBP took them all to Showtime and now reaping the rewards. Right now they seem to be rotting and seldom fight. Why because they focus too much on PPVs, particularly Mayweather's. There's no money left for their little stars.
The reason is, they cannot afford to keep making those fights. I can see more and more PPV cards being made by them as Showtime does not have bottomless pockets. There are limits being hit.
Many factors are causing this, including the Al Haymon effect with his signed fighters all expecting big money every fight.
They pick up closer to the end of the year, if I remember. Since most fighters fight twice a year, the first half builds hype, while the second half is where the big clashes are.
I agree. I was expecting some really big match ups this year but we're getting nothing at all. Khan, Matthyse and Thurman haven't been lined up with opponents and all we've got is Paulie-Porter lol. Its not good man.

i agree....they arguable have the deepest stables at '40 & '47! makes no sense
