Why did Schaefer lie about the rematch clause?

You're very naive. Contracts mean sht to these people. If they dont want a rematch and you have a rematch contract there's countless ways in which they can delay it until a fighter is 40 years old. Happens all the time. You know how many fighters have a reamtch clause and never get to see it, or the "mandatory" fights that take forever? wake up man. Yet you're on here daily complaining about said fight that was clearly such a devastating beat down? Floyd is not fighting Maidana in May we all know that. If there was not a rematch clause in the contract then Maidana could easily get his handlers/lawyers/team to bring out the original contract and decline the rematch. I'm pretty sure his team isn't stupid enough to not keep a copy of the original contract for circumstances like this. It feels that way but if Ortiz beats Collazo clearly people will push for that fight instead. Never had a thought of a Ortiz rematch until now; I doubt that would happen.

I'm not sure why this is such a big deal. The Broner rematch is the best thing for Maidana. How could fighting broner and possibly losing be better than getting a career high purse in fighting Floyd ? Even if he whoops broner again, all roads lead to Floyd.
