Curious to know why Schaefer would lie about it. At first he says there was none now there is one. They are both promoted by GB so I'm sure he knew. So is it because they want Broner to avenge his loss to do some damage control to save their future ppv star? Or did he lie about the clause in the beginning thinking Maidana could potentially fight Floyd? Not sure why he would lie.
You're very naive. Contracts mean sht to these people. If they dont want a rematch and you have a rematch contract there's countless ways in which they can delay it until a fighter is 40 years old. Happens all the time. You know how many fighters have a reamtch clause and never get to see it, or the "mandatory" fights that take forever? wake up man.
Yet you're on here daily complaining about said fight that was clearly such a devastating beat down? Floyd is not fighting Maidana in May we all know that. Get that out of you and your boy syf naïve minds. I know how many fighters never fight their mandatory but in this case Broner let us the paying consumer decide his fate and actually went with the pick unlike Floyd. Got his ass beat handily and decided to pursue the rematch clause. Yes Maidana doesn't want to burn any bridges with Al haymon or GBP, but why would he since there is no larger purse fight for maidana other than Floyd or pacman both whom beat him soundly. And again, of course if maidana lost the first fight he gets no damn rematch he was the challenger. Beat Broner's ass again and put yourself in a solid seat for Floyd in one of his next few fights. He easily won 10 rounds so I ask you again and quit dodging my question what is the f*cking problem taking the rematch? Or do you just want him to cash his self out and retire after Floyd cause he won't beat him outside a lucky punch.
If there was not a rematch clause in the contract then Maidana could easily get his handlers/lawyers/team to bring out the original contract and decline the rematch. I'm pretty sure his team isn't stupid enough to not keep a copy of the original contract for circumstances like this. Nobody is being forced to do sh*t you guys need to quit with the stupid thread and use your heads. If he is legally binded to a rematch clause then it was in the original contract. Either prove there is no rematch cause or stfu and beat Broner's ass again..what's the problem?

It feels that way but if Ortiz beats Collazo clearly people will push for that fight instead.
Never had a thought of a Ortiz rematch until now; I doubt that would happen.
For Khan-Mayweather to have even a slight chance of being successful with hardcore fans they need to rule Maidana out on a technicality and avoid criticism.

Both should move on to other fights, and have this rematch in their back pocket as a money fight when neither can find any other good option. End of this year, or next year. If either catch more losses they can always fall back on making this rematch, and still pull in tons of interest and money.

No way to know the true answer to your question dude, only Schafer knows what goes on inside his head.
I'm not sure why this is such a big deal. The Broner rematch is the best thing for Maidana.
How could fighting broner and possibly losing be better than getting a career high purse in fighting Floyd ? Even if he whoops broner again, all roads lead to Floyd. No shame in fighting Floyd and losing, the broner rematch will still be there . If broner beats him in a rematch the Floyd fight goes away..
Hold up. Are Maidana fans saying there shouldn't be a rematch?
Why wouldn't Maidana want this? Was his win a fluke? Are his fans trying to protect him?
Come on guys. If he won so convincingly then why be afraid of a rematch.
Roll back to Pac vs Marquez, guys like you were saying no need for a rematch as Marquez won and that he is not scared but it does nothing
Now here when not to do with pac, you guys saying if chino win so easily, he should give hima rrematch or it was a fluke and he is scared
The hypocrisy lol
Schaefer lies so much i dont even know what's the truth anymore Canelo and Perro hate each other then Angulo licks Canelo's taint and i dont even know which one is true with this sh*t either.

No I wanted the Floyd fight for Chino. A Broner rematch does absolutely zip for Maidana's legacy or career.

You use your head. Maidana works with the same people, GBP and Haymon, as Broner and Floyd. He wouldn't burn bridges like that just to make a point. Doesn't mean he still ain't getting jobbed though.
there is a rematch clause because, MAIDANA WON! this rematch wont exist if BRONER WON!
That is usually how it works when you fight the championship belt holder...the hell is wrong with you people.
I wonder why they're so eager for the rematch.
If Broner loses again, which could easily happen, his career takes another huge hit.
i dont think anyone in any camp is eager for that fight besides adrien
