Manny Pacquiao sent a clear message to Floyd Mayweather. If he wants a fight without having to deal with Top Rank Promotions boss Bob Arum, he will have to wait until 2015.
In a telephone interview with Philboxing’s Eddie Alinea, Pacquiao clarified that a fight against Mayweather is not possible this year without Arum’s blessing.
“Floyd has also been saying, he will only fight me if I separate from Top Rank and Bob Arum. That’s impossible because my contract is valid until the end of this year,” Pacquiao explained in Filipino. “If my contract is not renewed, we can only talk about a possible fight next year.”

The eight division world champion also addressed the rumors that the mega-fight is set to September.
“If it was already a done deal, is it possible for me not to know about it? I know nothing about the reports in the newspapers,” Pacquiao said. He also denied that he will be flying to the United States to meet with Mayweather. “I have no plan to go to the U.S. to talk to Floyd; that’s also not true,” he added.
“I have been saying this over and over again, I am not afraid to fight anybody, but if somebody doesn’t want to fight me, same here. I, too, won’t face him who doesn’t want to face me,” Pacquiao shared. “Floyd himself has been telling the whole world, he doesn’t want to fight me. The feeling is mutual. But if he finally decides that he wants to face me, I’m okay with it.”

The two fighters still have no opponents for their upcoming battles. Pacquiao is penciled to fight in Las Vegas on April while Mayweather will fight in May.
According to ESPN’s Dan Rafael, Pacquiao’s opponent will be named in the coming days.
"We are down to business now," Arum told ESPN.com. "Michael (Koncz) is coming over to my house and there will certainly be progress made on Manny's next fight. Then I need some time to finalize a deal with the opponent. I think we will select the opponent and then I will go close a deal with that guy."
WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley and WBO light welterweight champion Ruslan Provodnikov are the only two options for Pacquiao as Juan Manuel Marquez expressed he didn't want a fifth fight.
"Marquez has put himself out of the running because he doesn't want the fight," Arum said. "He hasn't priced himself out of the fight, he's just not interested at any price. What he's saying for him, it makes a lot of sense. He's like, 'How can I do any better against Pacquiao than knocking him out?'"

If Pacquiao beats Provonikov down, and beats Bradley again. The fight has steam and big momentum again.
I've always maintained once Manny gets free from Top Rank, the fight happens 100%.
Pac is a grown man. He doesn't waste his time with brats and adults acting like children. If Floyd really wanted the fight he wouldn't have had a long list of of TO DO before he gives Manny a chance to fight him. It's always been Floyd trying to not make the fight happen.
Boxing in a sad state if people waiting until 2015 to see a 38 fmj and a 36 pac man match for bragging rights both fighters are out of their prime and boths camps are to blame for this garbage
I agree, f them both, they need to pay me to watch that fight and for being a strong fan and supporter of the sport. Those dudes are already millionaires, it's about time these fools show me the money.

Man, that's a weak argument. Are you suggesting Mayweather go out and fight the difference in the amount of fights since 2006 and then they'll be even? Maybe Pacquiao should have paced himself better... I don't know what to tell you on this one.
It's argument like this that tells me this is a lose/lose situation for Mayweather. Beating Pacquiao at this point will mean nothing to the majority that will no doubt make the argument he was not in his prime.
Arum is going to stick Pacquiao with a loss on the last fight of his contract. He will not let him go without getting a cut of the biggest fight in history.
The interview is just a smart-a$$ response to Floyd's recent roadblock but Manny is being polite and politically correct.
IMO everything rides on Showtime's Espinoza's back. While Manny only mentions Floyd in the interview, SHO is also to blame for catering to that kind of BS. The higher ups at CBS better take notice.
woo hoo!!!! 2015!!! been waiting since 2009!!! just one more year! ....man I can't wait for these 2 to retire. 140 -154 has plenty of intriguing matchups that has nothing to do with those 2.
It does not matter if Pacquiao is free of Arum or not. If Mayweather agreed to fight Pacquiao after Pacquiao left Arum the percentage of the money available that Mayweather would agree to give Pacquiao would be too small. Pacquiao would rightfully turn the fight down. Pacquiao won't go for the short end of an 80-20 purse split and that's probably about what Floyd would offer him.
I agree, I think Mayweather will make him some ridiculous offer, maybe 70/30 or 80/20 as you stated and when Pacquiao refuses, then he will be accused of not wanting the fight and ducking Mayweather.

You'd have to be one stupid mother ****er to "wait until he gets out of his prime" before fighting them if you're the older person. lol. If Mayweather was 5 years younger than Pacquiao that argument would make some sense.
When it comes to the subject of Mayweather and Pacquiao all reasoning go out the window. My favorite argument now is that Mayweather is waiting for Pacquiao to be softened up a bit more before they fight.

Did you read the article or ignore it? Manny can leave at the end of the year.
Did you read my post? He Is under contract, he Isn't going anywhere In the NEAR future.
*Puts money on Floyd retiring in 2015*
Being serious though..this fight went past its sell-by date when 2010 came and past. Seeing this fight in 2015 would be like finally nailing the hot girl from high school...but when she got fat and had a shit load of kids.
Did you read the article or ignore it? What can Floyd do until Manny decides to leave? What do you want him to do?
What do you mean, when he decides to leave. He Is under contract, there Is no leaving, at least not In the near future.

Does this mean that Manny is actually bankrupt?
It's sad this whole saga is now at the point of Pac resigning himself to even the idea of the fight being not possible until a year away from now, when it's over due by years already.
Floyd: Drugs, oh..money....oh...Arum.
Arum: Were getting the stadium built...
Utterly embarassing.
Mmmmm doesnt make much business sense to be honest for Arum to be honest as rather than let this fight happen in 2015 and take no cut, I'm guessing he would rather make the fight this year and take a lower cut to what he was hoping for
Honestly for Floyd it would be better at this point if the fight doesn't ever happen.
If it never happens he can still make the case that both sides were ducking.
If it happens now then it will just further the belief that Floyd wanted no part of prime Pacquiao but when he got old Floyd had no problem facing just like with Oscar, Mosley, Cotto and other big names. Legacy wise the fight does nothing positive for him now and Showtime is apparently willing to give him his guarantee no matter who he fights.
That would make sense (old fighters part)... If... Floyd wasnt older than Pac and didn't age.
Everyone knows pac agreed to fight Floyd but his camp felt differently. It's easy to accepy a fight once they both had opponents and Floyd clearly saying he was taking time off after Shane who at time time was considered the top WW despite his age. Pac picked Clottey.... :/... If you take a step back from the bias you'd know it's been both camps. From drug testing, cut off dates being changed, to short changing to stadiums and promoters it's been a circus. Remember how they agreed to drug testing then changed their mind and changed the cutoff date (Pac camp)? How Floyd offered Pac 40 mil and NO ppv? Or when Arum said pac would be ready to fight Floyd til june (Floyd would be in jail lol)? Or how Floyd had the date and venue and Arum said he needed a stadium? Notice anything? Pac has absolutely no say in what happens. He even said it in this interview. Everybody knows this has been a d ick swinging contest between Floyd and Arum/Pac. People should be fans of the sport first, fighters second otherwise you come off as a psycho fanatic who cant see it's been both camps. These guys are more afraid of losing on the negotiating table than they are of each other. Make no mistake, floyd and pac arent afraid of each other... It's all a d ick swinging contest with neither of them willing to whip it out first lol
I find it amazing how many people are looking for excuses for Floyd not to fight Manny. I get that you like a particular boxer, but aren't you boxing fans first and foremost? Don't you want to see better fights?
