I started believing in him after beating Diego Chavez in a pretty brutal fight. He adapted and won by KO. I'd still like to see how he does against elite fighters, but so far so good. No, I'm not going Broner on him saying he's the GOAT, you have to beat elite fighters with authority to get there.
Maidana already turned down a Thurman fight, I doubt MM will be lining that high-risk, low-reward fight up after the biggest win of his career.
Thurman is ranked number 1 at the weight for Maidana belt. Am sure when the mandatory status comes then no one can avoid him.
Do you think he's over or under rated?
Where do you think hes ranked in the WW division?
Whos the best WW you think he could beat?
Thurman is impressive, not quite elite level but a solid B+, he has a lot to prove against quality opponents but here is what my WW rankings would look like:
***** Boy Floyd
Bradley
Pacman
Maidana
Porter
Thurman
Alexander
Hulk
Brook
Malignaggi
Theres a huge gap between the top 3 and everyone else, except for Manny/JMM which is an oddity, he just happens to be Pacs boogeyman.
Other than that, the JMM that got schooled by Bradley loses to almost every top 10 welter, mark my words.
Brook and Thurman in my eyes have the most potential but need the match ups to show how good they can be.
Even forgot that he wanted to fight for Paulie belt like 18 months ago, well Maidana has it now and a fight between thurman and Maidana would be definitely a good match up for both.

That wobble against Karass was pretty telling IMO. Another hype train for Maidana to derail for y'all. Prov would too.
He can be out boxed or out banged, to me, there is a question mark on his chin. Likable guy, talented... But that chin....
Ur right... I saw it from an altered point of view... So my bad to the poster I quoted... But Truth did state he Thurman was above Garcia, so my post still applies... Happy New Year Bro...
Don't get your knickers in a twist mate, I've explained numerous times why D.Garcia is nowhere near as good as people make out and will be found out soon. He's just a good fighter, nothing more. His lack of movement and snail speed will cost him soon.
I'd like to see him fight Paulie or Ortiz next.
As a Paulie fan, that's the last thing I want to see happen. Ortiz is a much better fight, like Thurman he's a strong welter.
Very unique style, doesn't jump in recklessly, he'll circle around you waiting until the time is right to explode, all whilst countering. Thurman has a very good counter left hook as well. Keith is a thinking fighter, patient, really like what I see so far.
From the post that you quote the poster didn't imply what you are saying in your post, he never said Thurman was on the same level as Garcia. Don't know how you got that from his post, saying Thurman well "end up" around the level of guys like Garcia isnt the same thing as "They are on the same level"

U and that wannabe boxing fan beneath ur post make me sick... Thurman on the same level or above D.Garcia??? Foh Garcia took the biggest threat in his division and f.ucked his ass up... Thurman took his biggest threat to date and almost got knocked out in the first round... Foh with ur fan boy bs...

He'll end up around the level of guys like Danny Garcia imo
Is there some overrating of Thurman going on? Yes, definitely. People get excited and go stupid over big punchers all the time. They can't help it

I very good fighter who has actually improve whilst stepping up his competition steadily, like someone else pointed out also he isn't overhype or overrated by some, he is probably the only power puncher that I have seen not been compared to Duran and Leonard rolled into one. He needs to keep improving whilst fighting better names/competition.
Well he is not overrated, I know that much. He is not in the top 10 P4P list and he's in the bottom half of the top 10 at WW. So he's ranked pretty low, I wouldn't classify that as overrated. Also, there is no Keith Thurman fanbase to speak of.
I would say he's good and he will get better. He looks like the type that would step his game up as his competition increases in difficulty.
He is pretty good but Floyd, Bradley, Pac beat him imo. None of these guys are on the same level as what he has fought. Guerrero would be an extremely tough match for him, one I think he also loses.
Floyd maybe, but I think Thurman is too much of a monster for Bradley and Pacquiao even though a fight between Thurman and Pacquiao would be great.

He's a future top 5 P4P fighter, possibly top 3. Very special fighter.
I agree. Thurman is a joy to watch. The man is a killer at 147 lbs. He reminds me of a smaller David Haye. Love this style in the ring.
