No one is mad at Calzaghe clowning Roy. What people are mad about is Calzaghe fighting Roy in the first place. Calzaghe didn't want to fight Dawson or Pavlik at the time, which would have enhanced his legacy.
Because they hoped that Roy would somehow magically go back to his prime overnight and do what he use to do, when Calzaghe just came in and schooled him while messing around.
People got mad, simply because, everybody knows that Joe had no intentions of fighting Roy at anywhere near his peak. He demanded the Crown Jewels to face him in 2002, despite nobody outside of the U.K. not really knowing who he was. He claims he chased a fight with Roy for years, despite not fighting in Roy's country or weight class. In his own words "I could probably give Roy Jones the fight of his life, but I know what my capabilities are, and unless I got paid the Crown Jewels, I wouldn't do it." Does that sound as though he was confident of beating Roy?
The guy's a joke. In 2006 he said Roy was washed up, and beating him at this point would be pointless after the knockout defeats. Then two years later, when Roy's two months away from his 40th birthday, all of a sudden Roy's back to his best and it's relevant fight again. That's why people are mad. He knows full well that he couldn't have beat Roy at his best.
He fought Roy FOUR YEARS AFTER he'd been knocked out twice. Then just 12 months after Joe beat him on points, Danny Green knocked him out in under three mins. Shall we give Joe a medal? The guy struggled with Reid and Kessler, what do you think a peak version of Roy would have done to him? Do you think he'd have stuck his face out and made faces at Roy when Roy was in his late 20's, early 30's? ****ing Enzo would have had to have carried him back to his dressing room.
Clowning a guy at 40, after you've stayed out of his way all of your career? Brilliant Joe. You were scared of flying, but you overcame your fear when Roy was 40? Ha!
The guy's a ****ing joke!
Roy Jones was "clowing" while knocking his opponents down or out. Calzaghe's "clowing" was him just being a prick. You get a free pass if you are being extremely effective with your clowing. No offense but dancing like a white person in a black and white video of the 50s while throwing grazing slaps doesn't give you a free pass.
It has to do with you finding the time to make these useless threads. Nobody needs them and you're obviously forcing it. Why bother re hashing irrelevant events from 5 years ago? When I come on this site I want to see interesting, whats going on now type stuff. The board is over run with nonsense from people with way to much time on there hands. Take it personal. I don't even know you and I new you had no job just by the childish wasting time question you asking in this thread. I used to do the same dumb sh1t when I was laid off.
Funny that one of the biggest haters and most inarticulate posters on the forum would say something like this. At least he doesn't simply say, "fact" when he can't express a point.
Fvck your facebook! Whats your job sucking Mayweathers dink all day?
Man I thought this was the first thread where you weren't going to mention sucking a d1ck...

Hell yeah I'm mad so what? I can't get mad cuz Camron and Obama had a mime about it? I'm mad about dumb ass threads and the lack of any sense by man child posters. No offense.....
Okay well if you want to compare different fighters around the same weight in the same era's based on ages, which is ridiculous, than here's some.
Miguel Cotto at 30 to Manny Pacquiao at 30.......completely different stages of their careers, around the same weight class at those times.
Antonio Margarito at 32 to Floyd Mayweather at 32.......completely different stages of their career, around the same weight class at the time.
Sergio Martinez in his mid 30's to Jermian Taylor in his mid 30's right now.
Different fighters age differently, and it's not fair to compare fighters at ages, given they age differently.
No one cares about the clowning, so I don't even know what the point of this thread was. Joe just doesn't get any credit because Roy was like 8 years removed from his prime and around 5 years removed from being any good at all.
^^^^
not gonna read the next 7 pages, it's ridiculous to argue age as if it's the same for every human body.
Not to be Captain Obvious or anything, but, that's EXACTLY what you're doing.
You don't seem to understand that fighters age differently, yet you keep using age as an argument, because you think it makes your argument stronger.
Practicing what you preach FTW.
I can't tell if he's playing dumb or is really just that dumb.
I think he's playing dumb. Simply because I don't think anyone can be that dumb.
I mean, it's been reiterated in this thread how many times?
People age differently. Especially fighters.
Like stated, on one hand, Hopkins was world class at 46 years of age. On another hand, Benitez was done before the age of 30.
Is this not common sense?
yea.stop using age as an excuse when it fits your agenda

its the truth his resume is far from great
Hmm, Roy Jones beat 2 ATG's in or close to their prime. Along with many other top ranked, quality opposition.
Joe Calzaghe only beat 3 fighters in his entire career that were in the Top 5 of the division he was fighting in.
Quite a gap there.

Depends how they age, obviously. People age differently, quicker, longer.
A fighter at 35 could be in his peak like Hopkins and still be world class at 45.
On the flipside, a fighter could be done before the age of 30 like Wilfred Benitez.
It really isn't to do with age, it's all to do with how they age. I assumed this was common sense.
Joe Calzaghe at 37 was still at an elite level. A world class fighter.
Roy Jones Jr at 37 was shot to pieces and hadn't won a legit fight in many years.
An obvious big difference.
ok lets not act like Roy wasnt fighting cab drivers and newspaper salesmen
Joe had 2 atg's on his resume
and so did roy
roys resume is just as shallow as Joes.............fat ass Toney went from mw to heavyweight to just like roy and beat the same dude
:haha: :haha:
FACTS........................
at 37 Joe was undefeated Ring lhw champ
at 37 Roy Jones had been knocked out twice and back fighting no hopers
Is there a point to this post?
