James Kirkland Knocked out in the First Round (VIDEO)

Anybody is liable to be stopped after getting knocked down three times in a single round. Get over it. James Kirkland may have beat Ishida before his imprisonment, but he was never going to be world class. He was nothing but a hype job with more deficiencies than you could shake a stick at. Technically he already stopped the fight by this point, but yeah lol. That was dumb. He probably didn't want to feel like a jackass for calling the fight too early, which he kinda would have had Kirkland gotten up. That said, Kirkland's chin is clearly in trouble. Maybe he can fight Yuri Foreman at 154, but he better stay away from anyone with any kind of power for a while. Ishida looks like a light heavyweight. I was going to say that. He looked huge. He battered Kirkland. Kirkland has always had a very shaky defence. He was just picked apart with punches straight down the middle

why some people here blaming the ref? Kirkland had no chance at all. if he got up again he would just go down again. ref did the right thing to stop the fight.

Damn now that I saw the the first kd again, it was only a glancing blow! It was a great shot actually. He had everything going into a straight left and so wasn't at all seeing what was coming at him, plus he was moving directly into that punch with his chin and all his body weight behind it. That last punch was perfect too and a very direct, hard shot to his chin in profile. You don't get a much better shot at someones chin the way he did at Kirkland's. Kirkland was in profile and so the point of his chin was exposed and I don't think he saw that last right hand which really cracked him right on the point of the chin. Great shot. Cortez is seriously one of the worst refs ever. It sounded like he said to Kirkland, when he was asked why he stopped it that, "You went down three times" so maybe the 3KD rule was in effect. Either way, Cortez is a piece of **** and not because of this fight. I didn't think it was too bad. Could have kept going on but Cortez just sucks in general. He makes a fight changing, ****ty decision every fight now because of his ego and desperate need to include himself in the fight and constantly make his presence known and felt.
