I don't know how anybody can give that fight to Pascal he didn't land anything clean most of the time. Plus he used a blatant headbutt to stop the fight when he was probably about to be KTFO. I can't believe this crap.
Thanks for the input, but my opinion still stands. I DVR'd the fight so I'll watch it again in the morning. Maybe I'm too drunk but I don't feel like Pascal won right now. Just nice to talk about something besides two boxers in the WW division that will never agree to fight.
I'm out bout to spark up some Xbox live.
Pascal was gassed and fading badly when the fight was stopped - otherwise he would have been TKO'd very soon in my view. The thing is, Dawson didn't pull the trigger enough, even though his jab was there all night.
Pascal landed the flashier shots, but he went for the home run balls and was out of steam by the 8th and 9th rounds.
The 108-101 score was "Hometown Cooking" like a Chef - personally I thought Chad was winning the rounds coming down the stretch, but was going to be behind on the cards early, especially in Canada.
Pascal had stopped throwing and was getting tagged - again, I think the TKO was about to happen, (Pascal was hurt pretty bad) and Pascal got lucky with the headbutt. Oh well, that's boxing...
great great post. I seen it the same way

Dawson was robbed a round and a half. But the fight was in Pascals favor by a wide margin.
Dawson needed a KO to win and the way it looked at the end of the 11th it couldve happened
BUT the score cards were spot on depending on the view

anyone who voted for dawson id love to see your insight on how dawson was winnign ...like really???
1 P (very close, could go either way)
2 P (very close)
3 P (D made it somewhat close near the end)
4 D (D stunned P at start, but P made it very close at the end)
5 D (very close, could go either way)
6 D (D check hook at 1:20. close round)
7 P (very close. P big shots early, D came back after)
8 P (D won most of round, but P hurt D with huge straight right left hook combo around 0:56)
9 D (very close, P started out strong, D came back)
10 D (D had P stunned with combos on ropes)
11 D (clear D round, huge counter left uppercut by D at 1:23)
Dawson 6 rounds to 5. but many rounds were close and could have gone either way, so i have no problem with the decision.
if no headbutt, i think dawson would have stopped pascal, who was gassed after 5 rounds.
wish we could've seen the 12th, just like in abraham-dirrell. abraham was on his way to KOing dirrell, too.
Ok
I just watched the fight and Pascal won that hands down.
Dawson just needs to be more aggressive he let this guy do what he wanted.
Dawson could have killed this guy because Pascal comes in all wild and throws his punches but Dawson never tried to counter him.
Pascal leaves his hands down and was wide open for counter shot ALL NIGHT LONG.
Dawson just didnt want to get hit...he fights WAY TIMID.
Honestly I see Dawson knocking this guy out in a rematch.
I was surprised by Pascals hand speed...he threw some good combos but after he threw his combos he was wide open for ANYTHING.
Pascal needs to work on his footwork and defense....he is a good fighter.
I just dont see Dawson as a great fighter and as much as I dislike some of the things Larry Merchant says he is absolutely right about Dawson....he NEVER stands his ground.
Pascal won...he deserved it....great win for him and Cananda.
Oh...The headbutt was accidental......Pascal was getting hammered but didnt look hurt...
Those people that say Pascal was about to get knocked out must be smoking something....I didnt see that...even that uppercut that stopped Pascal in his tracks...he came right back punching his legs did not buckle at all.
lol, not a chance.
Pascal won that fight.
As for the headbutt, blame Dawson. He's the one who rushed in with his head like an amateur.
You people need to chill with the excuses and give Pascal props for exposing another hbo hypejob.
:bottle:
Exactly its all DAwson fault!
Anyway PASCAL won 10 rounds to 1 ,it was special kind of ass woopin!
Round 4 is the round where Dawson used his jab and controlled most of the round and then Pascal landed a booming right hand?
Yes, that's the one. Dawson easily won the first 2:45 or so of the round. He landed punches, which were ignored by the announcers (gross incompetence) and the crowd (understandable bias). Pascal landed a booming right hand in the final 15 seconds, but it had absolutely no effect on Dawson. I have to say, both fighters showed good chins, although they were both hurt at points in the fight. I guess that's because they also showed poor stamina.

Try re-watching round 4 and tell me who you think won it.
I don't blame Pascal for the headbutt. It was clearly accidental and Dawson was the one leading with his head. I don't even blame the referee for stopping the fight. Dawson was coming on strong, and Pascal was clearly exhausted, but the cut was just too bad. The doctor did the right thing.
I am not making excuses for Dawson, who fought a stupid fight and showed little heart. I am just saying that I scored it round by round and had it 6-5 Dawson. As usual, the announcers were spouting nonsense and I noticed several rounds that they were talking about Pascal "stealing the round", but it wasn't the case. Many of the rounds were close and could have gone either way, so I have no problem with people saying Pascal won a close fight. I don't know what the people who thought it was an easy win for Pascal were smoking last night though. They must have been listening to the stupid HBO announcers and the Montreal crowd.
Anyone who gave Pascal round 4, which includes 90% of the people who think Pascal won easily and also the HBO announcers, should throw their scorecard in the garbage. Round 4 is the best example. Dawson controlled almost the entire round. When he landed punches, they were studiously ignored by both the crowd and the announcers. Pascal went on to win the final 15 seconds of the round, landed one good punch, and the announcers talked about how he might have "stolen the round". Uh, no...
It reminded me of watching Ali get the **** beaten out of him by Norton, then Ali started dancing for the final 30 seconds of the round, not even throwing punches, and Cosell started ranting about how Ali was "stealing the round".
Learn to score a round. Take some pills or something if you can't remember the first 2:45 of a round. This was a close fight that could have gone either way (outside of Montreal). I can understand 106-103, but anyone who had it 108-101 is completely clueless.
Im being generous to give Dawson 4 rounds but that's it. Pascal clearly won. Even if Chad won the 12th, that wont reverse the scorecards unless he stops Jean.
I really didn't see Pascal hurt in any other round but round 4. And hurting is FAR from stopping somebody. Especially with Chad Dawsons lowsy workrate... He really fought like a girl...
And TS, what fight did you see????
Yeah he should have let him continue - that was a little bit of home cooking right there but it wouldn't have made a difference; Pascal was not going to be denied the win.
Hahaha, when I first saw the poll it was 91 Pascal, 11 Dawson.
Seeing it now it's 146 Pascal, 11 Dawson. If you thought Dawson won or was robbed, you must be blind.
