Why are people giving Khan stick for wanting to fight the JMM/Diaz winner? Which will be JMM of course. Not too long ago Floyd Mayweather fought JMM..
Maidana's not fighting until after his managerial problems have been resolved, and Bradley and Alexander have other fights.
People will argue that Khan is much bigger (5ft10 to JMM's 5ft7) but Mayweather was also much bigger than JMM. Floyd was a natural welterweight and fought at 146 (JMM was 142lbs). Moreover, Floyd had a 1 inch height advantage (nothing at all) but he had a 5 inch reach advantage. Khan has a 4inch reach advantage over JMM. Also Khan will be fighting JMM at 140lbs, Khan will probably weigh in at 139 1/2lbs, JMM will probably be 138lbs.
So as you can see the fight is pretty balanced in comparison to the Mayweather fight. Mayweather had a reach and big weight advantage, where as Khan would have a size and reach advantage.
I'm a Khan fan and I'm pretty upset that he's not fighting a JWW next, I would have like to have seen Mabuza, Olusugen, McCloskey, Kamegai (who is similar in size to Khan and has an 86% KO rating, would have been interesting) or Peterson.
However, it would be interesting to see how Khan will cope with a counter-puncher, and whether he can TKO JMM. Mayweather didn't manage it and I'm sure that if Khan can TKO him then his reputation in the USA will definitely increase.
Also, JMM is ranked 3rd P4P so it's not a bad scalp at all. If Khan was still able to make 135lbs, he should move down and try to win JMM's WBO and WBA-super Lightweight titles and become a unified champ. But he can't so oh well.
No one is saying JMM is shot, he should not fight above 135 because he will not do good. Khan is cherry picking here, he should fight someone at 140 or get his ass down to 135 if he wants JMM that bad.
Khan's not wanting anybody 'that bad'. he's fighting whoever GBP put in front of him. When are people gonna start understanding this fact? Even if Khan wanted any of the top guys this saturday night, unless GBP makes the deal and sorts it out, there will be no fight.
GBP are the ones that are protecting him and building his name. They want money and Khan is a cash cow for them.
GBP need to give Khan what he wants, as thats what we, the boxing fans want... BIG fights!
Man people must have really been overestimating Marquez's wins over Casayamor and Diaz big time because at the time no one would have picked Khan to beat Marquez . He gives all he can against a bigger opponent in Mayweather and loses wide , now he's shot? Dont get me wrong i'd much rather see a Maidana fight but people are really underestimating Marquez in this one , Khan won't walk through him but he'll win IMO .

Maybe because he's picking on LW, past prime fighter, and JMM is not competitive at anything over 135.
Why is he going to fight JMM when he called out Marcos, Devon, and Bradley?
Remember guys, Khan said he only wants to fight big name fighters, when they're past their prime and coming on the downside. He said this in an interview.
I think you are misinterpreting what Im saying. Yes Marquez skills have eroded a bit and yes Khan is a clear favorite but Marcos Maidana a hard punching brawler being a bigger challange is mind boggling. Marquez would be hands down the smartest fighter Khan ever faced and if anyone knows how to counter speed in that division it's Marquez. I'm not saying Marquez would win but i am saying it would be a very tough fight for Khan and by no means be any easier then fighting Maidana, Bradley, or Alexander.
U need to quit fooling youself,, "any easier then fighting Maidana, Bradley, or Alexander...If that was the case then why isn't he begging for a fight with either of them guys..A boxer can have all the smarts, but if you don't have the tools to do it, then your clearly at a disadvantage....
What division did Floyd ever fight in that had the talent that 140 has right now?
well 130 was pretty good
Chicanito- tail end of career
Manfredy- starting to fade a bit
Matador
Jesus Chavez
Chico
Grandpa Garcia
Casamayor
Freitas- early career
What division did Floyd ever fight in that had the talent that 140 has right now?
oh so, because 140 has a lot of talent means khan doesnt have to fight a legit challenger??i got it...

a bit? dude to be honest if it were not for his ring smarts I think we would have seen a serious decline in Marquez.
and the reason why people like Maidana as a challenge over JMM are obvious or is that not clear?
1. he hits hard. The kid can crack and can stop fighters with head and body shots. That is something we haven't seen Khan face since Prescott and honestly need to see again. He has been facing light hitting foes of late and IMO it has over inflated his status
2. Maidana is an actual 140lb fighter, something I assume you realize Marquez isn't and while Marquez is indeed skilled at some point there becomes a threshold of how much a fighter, even one as skilled as Marquez, can risk before it's too much to bite off. I see that with a Khan fight.
l like how ppl compare this to the maywether situation. first of all, mayweather gets a lot, and i mean a lot, of flack for fighting jmm. secondly, jmm is about 2 fights older now and well into his decline. thirdly, mayweather beat all of the top guys in his divisions when he was khan's age, none of that easy road shit khan is pulling. say wat u want about mayweather now, but he didnt take it easy early in his career. thats exactly what khan is doing and then claiming to be something special. if u are, prove it. stop fighting ppl we all kno u can beat.

Is that all you see it as? A size differential?
cmon now we all have seen his physical skills decline for some time now
we have all seen him get a tad slower, look a tad more faded, a tad more hittable
wasn't it argued that this is the main reason why his fights have been more entertaining because his physical tools have made him a more in front of his opponent fighter?

At this point Khan has to fight an 140lb, no more ppl comming up in weight. He has a mandatory and also the 140 is filled with challenges. He not going to have any shortage in finding an opponent
I agree I wish he would stay at lightweight but when people consider Bradley, Alexander, and Maidana bigger threats I think they forget just how talented Marquez is. Seriously other than the size Marquez is a way more skilled/talented/accomplished fighter than any of the other JR welters that were mentioned.

No one is underestimating JMM, we all saw what happened when he fought at 140+, he should stay at 135 and call it a day.

Are people really underestimating JMM? The guy is only a future Hall of Famer and yeah the guy is older and smaller but are people seriously considering Maidana, Alexander, and Bradley bigger threats. What have they exactly accomplished when compared to JMM?
Seriously you guys forget that Marquez is one of the smartest fighter in boxing right now. Im talking Hopkins/Mayweather smart in the ring so that has to count for something.

at 140, a weight he is not familiar with, at age 36, and with his best days behind him?
that's not underestimating him thats being real
and while I would venture to say he Hopkins and Mayweather are the smartest fighters in the ring currently the decline in physical tools is going to make up for it.
let's not forget he went to war with Diaz to get the win and struggled against a faded Casamayor so how people do not see the decline in his physical skills is beyond me
neither is effective past 135
this has been proven
140 is stacked
I was ok with Paulie fight, nothing wrong with that
but this decision deserve to be dissed

and he got shit for it or do we forget this?
Maidana's not fighting until after his managerial problems have been resolved, and Bradley and Alexander have other fights.
then fight someone else in your own division.
here is a question for you. Does the fact that JMM went all the way back down to 135 mean anything to you?

God stop spinning this like the Mayweather JMM fight was anything other than a tune up for a comebacking Floyd

the rest is just ugh and not well thought out
