I used to dislike Joe, but thought about how he handled his career one day and really, he didn't do anything differently than RJ or BH.
All three of them got into a groove of fighting easy defenses in their main title reign.
Everyone assumes that Joe should have chased RJ and come over to the States to fight him. There was no need for him to chase Roy. He was making millions doing the same thing Roy was doing. Roy never chased him either.
Both of them could have done more with their primes, but it was their choice to get a steady income and take the easy route. They both still made a mark and will go into the history book, although neither may land high on any ATG list, they will both get solidly placed in the HOF.
Burner, you claim to be a boxing fan, yet you use words like bum and fraud constantly. There is a world of difference between yourself and real boxing fans. I am pretty certain from reading your posts and listening to you on that radio show, that you have no real connection to boxing. I doubt that you have set foot in a gym before, got to actually know any fighters,or even attended a live show.
Every poster on this site will occasionally use that kind of language, but with you it is a constant and that puts you alongside the very worst bunch of idiots on here. Your track record and reputation is absolute dogshit on this site.
Simple question, but what exactly has been your contribution to boxing that would afford you the credibility to label fighters as 'bums' or 'Frauds'? Again, I am fairly certain that the answer to that is f.uck all. You just type shit and dont give it a seconds thought dont you. Would you call Jeff Lacy a bum to his face? No. Would you call Kessler a bum to his face? no. Would you step to Jones and tell him he's too old? what do you think he would say to your scrawny ass if you did? Would you laugh in JC's face and call him a fraud if you met him in person? Not a f.ucking chance.
You really need to start thinking before posting,I caught the last radio show and you actually sounded half sensible, which is a total world away from your persona on this site.
Get a grip and start showing some respect for the sport you claim to love, perhaps even get your ass into a boxing gym, because then you will realise just how difficult a sport this is to make a name in, and at 23 there is still time to pull yourself around.
Peace.
Burn! :D
I like to play with words :D
Mikkel Kessler, favourite to win super six
Chris Eubank
Mario Veit
B-hop
Schooled Jones for 12 rounds and made him look pathetic.
Fact of the matter remains nobody could have beaten Joe Calzaghe and that's why he retired...the only way you can beat Joe Calzaghe is by knocking him out...and that ain't gonna happen.
Get over it.
Kessler is the favorite? :nonono:
How so man? I understand you are a fan and that's ok but do you realize how many people we have to put in the hall of fame so Joe can get in? There are many people in their 20's already with resumes equal to Joe at 37...
Oh no no no. I am faaaaaaaaaaar from a Calzaghe fan. I was actually one of his biggest criticists.
He went 46-0, won titles in 2 weight divisions, and held his title at SMW for 10 years. It would be unfair NOT to put him in.
Glenn Johnson for one.
I'm not bent out of shape about Calzaghe anymore though. His careers over, let him enjoy his retirement. His career is what it is. He's a hall of famer and an ATG, even if his resume isn't the best.

Larry Holmes is 7 years younger than Muhammad Ali.
Holmes won by stoppage (ahead on all scorecards) but he got no respect.
Calzaghe is 7 years younger than Bernard Hopkins.
Calzaghe won by split decision, refused a rematch, why would he get respect?
He also got dropped in the first round. :beerchug:
who didnt he duck? who has he fought worth mentioning?

The Yanks sent over their best to beat him.......Jeff Lacy :haha:
Bringing up Jeff Lacy doesn't help. Clearly Lacy was never what we thought he was.
Now Kessler has been dominated too and Roy Jones KOed in one round.
Calzaghe's spot in boxing history is safe, but his best wins / resume is taking a beating lately.
Who did he duck?
Glenn Johnson for one.

Such a fraud that he is richer than most boxers will ever be, became a hero in his country, came to America and beat two of the most note wothy boxers of the last 20 years after moving up in weight, retired undefeated, and accomplished what few others can ever hope to. Damn bum!!
***Hopkins and Jones were alongside Calzaghe in the old man category so please stop saying he fought old guys, he was just as old.
Joe Calzaghe is doing what all 37 year old boxers should be doing, and thats enjoying his retirement. Again, you put no real thought into what you type.
Wait.... How old were his biggest wins?
Roy Jones and Bernard Hokins are twofo the best fighters to ever throw a punch.
Calzaghe....welll hes calzaghe...lol.
Roy Jones yes
Hopkins his style is horrible, hugging and headbutting and a defensive dirty style, he is one of the best fighters to take a punch, but definately not to throw it else he would have KO'd Jermaine taylor.
against Calzaghe he was so boring if he was fighting some one like direll it would be like taking sleeping tablets
