Surprised how many see Morales as a greater fighter because I can't see it myself.Barrera has the overall better resume but Morales the better at 122(even though I felt he lost to Barrera in their first fight).
Perhaps it's because Morales is the more likable of the two and didn't make excuses for his losses, but that shouldn't play a part in their accomplishments as fighters.
I'm sure that the Barrera fanboys are simply winding me up here. They know of my dislike that I have for Marcy and are coaxing me into giving him credit.I have yet to see somebody state a convincing argument as to how Morales was a greater fighter than Barrera.Let's be perfectly honest here,Barrera beat Morales convincingly during their first fight,he outfought Morales and capped it off with a knockdown and there is no possible way to give credit to Morales for beating Barrera in their first meeting because he never did.Their second fight was crap and as I remember Barrera was giving the first half rounds of the fight to Morales and rallied strong, now perhaps Morales deserved the decision but it was nowhere near as bad as their first fight. The really is no debate about their third fight as Barrera won it clearly.
Both me are overrated but there was a clear victor in their trilogy and the superior fighter emerged and that was Marcy Antonita Barrera.
I agree, and i dont understand why anyone could argue.
How did he out perform Barrera against Ayala? Ayala couldn't do a damn thing against Barrrera and was out classed from start to finish, not to mention that Barrera stopped Ayala.
Morales never quits :439:
Morales did not just outclassed ayala but he put an ass whopping on him
marco was just content on winning points but he did get the stoppage i will give him than but erik also faced the better version of ayala
marco did the same thing against peden, was just content on winning on points and finally opened up in the 12th
marquez also fought peden first and won in much more impressive fashion and the fight was not dreadful to watch compared to mab performance against peden and ayala (until the stoppage)
Barrera was bad ass at 122 and better than Morales imo, he was robbed in the Jones rematch as well.
mab rematch with jones was a great fight by both guys
that was the first fight that mab showed (or least I saw) he can fight a discipline fight with a game plan
but i had mab winning the fight by a 7 to 5 margin when he took that 12th round
Barrera beat Marquez. Knocked him down, outboxed him. Won on my card. That round should have been a 10-8 round for Barrera but ended up a 10-8 round because the ref didn't see the knockdown and took a point away from Barrera. So that would be two point. Even tho the points wouldn't have mattered on the scorecards because Barrera would have still lost 113-114 on two cars and 113-116. I think that Marquez would have been shook up if he didn't get time because Barrera caught him with a Clean Shot.
even if you include the knock down marquez was beating the crap out of marco in that round.
So if you include the knockdown the round scored would have been 10-9 for marquez but if you include the knockdown dont forget to include the point deduction
People keep talking about how the knockdown should have been counted and that would have made a big difference but they always seem to exclude the fact that marco was deducted right after the knock down.
anyway you slice it marco still ends up losing the round 10-8
1. Morales 2. Barrera 3. Marquez
That's the ranking
Morales-------Barrera------Marquez
Pacquiao(27)----Hamed-------Barrera(33)
Barrera ---------Morales--------Cassamayor(37)
Jones ----------McKinney-------J.Diaz
Chavez --------Tapia ----------Medina
Zaragoza ------Salud ----------Gainer
Chi -------------- Ayala ---------Juarez
Hernandez----- Juarez ----------Peden
McCullough-----A. Sanchez------Salido
Ayala -----------Peden ----------Polo
----------1----------2----------3
I agree with morales being number on but why did you not compare all three of them with common opponents
if you did it would read like this erik, jmm, and mab clearly being third
jmm clearly beat peden, a.sanchez, juarez and fared better against pac than mab ever did.
erik also out performed marco against ayala, j.jones, pac,
two things that mab resume has over Marquez are his victories over morales and naz
so based on those two win i see why people would have it erik , mab, and marquez
but i have it erik, marquez, and mab based on the fact that both erik and marquez out performed mab with their common opponents

the only reason morales beat pacquiao was because marquez helped him, morales watched round 1 of Marquez-Pacquiao for days, and that basiacally sealed his last hurrah.
That list is no good. JMM went all the way up to 35 and dominated. Em and Mab couldn't do much past 26' and didn't have the longevity of JMM.
JMM is dominating in his late 30's.
JMM's longevity>EM and MAB.
But he last in place far as res goes Dap.
barrera won the first, Erik won the 2nd and in the 3rd, they should have DQd Marco for rabbit punches
true story
Barerra puts Hopkins to shame in the trickery departent. I wish Hamed faked an injury and got a DQ win after Barerra tried to DDT him.
Agreed like others i have them:
1. Erik "El Terrible" Morales
2. Marco Antonio Barrera
3. Juan Manuel Marquez
Morales should be 2-1 over Barrera. True Story. Prime Morales vs Prime Pac is one for the ages!!!!!!!!
Barerra did deserve to win the first fight, but Morales clearly won the second fight. Each got snubbed once so it balances out.
i don't remember the 2nd fight.
tua, morales avoided a fight with marquez, too much risk.
but, he did feel inclined to fight him if it made $ sense.
tua, let me ask you, do you have any idea what money terms morales's team and bob arum(loved morales, barely remembered he had marquez) offered to marquez?
morales fought pacquiao next. morales was not avoiding anyone. he was trying to get a big win after losing to barrera.
the offer to marquez was after barrera 3.
i'm sure the offer to marquez was similar to the offer to pacquiao.
nothing against marquez. we all know marquez would fight anyone. it was money matters and again more iganicio's fault.
barrera won the first fight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
barrera was robbed!!!!!!!!!!!!
Barerra did deserve to win the first fight, but Morales clearly won the second fight. Each got snubbed once so it balances out.
I honestly think marquez would beat morales. Also marquez outperformed Barerra against ALL common opponents. Truth be told without his win over a past it Hamed who didn't even train for the fight Barerras resume would not have been that good.
