Seriously....i dont think he's done anything to improve Floyd's skills or career. The dude is just there to hold pads, yell and motivate in the corner to collect a paycheck.
I think Floyd pretty much trains himself. Roger holds the pads but does the same pad routines that Floyd has been doing since he was a kid. Floyd only looks blindingly fast working the mitts in training to the untrained eye because he's had the pattern memorized for 20+years already. Roger doesnt watch any film of Floyd's opponents and really doesnt say much of anything relevant for adjustment during fights. He just has positive feedback if Floyd is doing good and jumps on his case if he's not doing so good.
A lot of times mayweather is NEVER in trouble in a fight so there is nothing for Roger to say to him. The game plan that Roger devises always works
So do you think Steve Forbes would have been able to beat Oscar delahoya if Roger was in his corner?
I like it in between rounds he tells PBF "Keep doing what your doing", "he is about to quit", "he dosent want to fight he just came for a check", but my favorite Roger quote happened in the corner after RD 9 of the hatton fight. As floyd sits in the stool he tells floyd "Too much skill for that motherf*cker"- Words of wisdom indeed.
My favorite Roger quote is "Why do Bill Gates keep makin dem motherf*ckin computers?" lol.

How do you know Roger doesn't watch film. Do you follow him around 24/7 or just watch a 1 minute snippet on TV. Roger is a boxing guru and lives and breathes boxing. For you to question his training techniques his laughable.
In your eyes, Roach is the only good trainer out there lol. Naive Pacman fans.
The stupidity of some people astonishes me,
heheheheh.....
How much credit do you think Roger Mayweather should get as a trainer for Floyd's success?
Mayweather made a seamless transition with his uncle. Hes always prepared, and hes always dominant. Alot of guys, including pac, have appearences where they dont exactly look sharp every night, or they have off nights, everyone has an off night, however with mayweather, hes had one off night ever in his career and it was rumored to be injury, so regardless, whatever it is they do, they do it well in respect to mayweather and what he does.
Obviously what they do works, im not really here to question their success. Maybe when you are handling fighters and guiding them, then you can give yorue opinion on why they should reveal to the whole world what they do.

why are they so scared to show sparring footage? almost every great fighter in the history of the sport show sparring footage. They need to hide their game plan for fighting a 36 year old career featherweight with 55 plus fights & just went through the ringer fighting casamayor, diaz, & pacquiao when they have a 32 year old undefeated welterweight former junior middleweight champion?

being a olympic medalist & being a great proffesional world champion is not the same thing. The gap between the two is huge and cannot be described as established. Very far from it. If you cant differentiate between the two, you are a hopeless case.
there was a time when making that transition was seamless because of the judging standards, however today i cant really say that. The way olympic boxing is structured is bullsh!t, its based basically on pitty pat scoring and nothing more. after they robbed roy jones, when they changed the scoring, its been horrible ever since. Many amatuers today who dont go to the olympics can still be good pros depending on how they prepared as far the amatuers go.
But, today? as of the last 20 years? id hardly call anyone with an olympic medal polished. how you prepare for olympic boxing isnt even the same as how you prepare for an amatuer fight, the scoring is just redundant.
Why dont u provide some evidence of Roger doing or saying anything even remotely close to relevant with helping Floyd win a fight instead of talking smack???
I know the man knows his boxing. So do Sugar Ray Leonard and Tommy Hearns but both were shit as trainers.
And for the record I think Nacho Beristain is the best trainer out there. Freddie Roach has had some good fighters who already had good backgrounds win belts but it's hard to argue against 17world champions built from scratch.
Mayweather and his team dont allow anybody to see any of their inside game or information on how they prepare for fights, they dont allow cameras into sparring, nor do they let ANYONE, not even their entourage, get wind of their strategy.
are you serious? i cant believe i have to defend the merits & how emmanuel steward & freddie roach molded & shaped fighters. I really cant believe it. I guess being a hall of fame trainer is not enough. Senior never trained his son for any title fights. roger has only Afraid jr.
Every great trainer has at least a couple of signature fighters that they guided to title fights & to greatness. The fact that i have to defend 3 current hall of famers from posters like you & DLT is down right disgusting.
There's a reason why roger & senior are not in the hall of fame & have not won any awards for being trainers & why their resume of training fighters is zero except for Afraid jr.
1st of all why dont you try reading my post right on the 1st page saying Nacho is the trainer i regard the most highly because he has trained 17 world champions from scratch. Meaning from the moment a child steps into the gym for the 1st time without any knowledge of fighting all the way until world championship fights.
Roach and Stewart have trained multiple world champions but they were already established before they ever got their hands on them.
Rigondeaux, Khan and Toney all already had olympic pedigree before Roach ever trained them. Even Manny Pacquiao was already a world champion before he ever met Freddie Roach.
And while I agree about Floyd Sr and Roger not having done much as far as trainers outside of Floyd jr. You have to at the very least give Sr credit for training his son from scratch since childhood. He would not have made it to the olympics without it.
really? tommy hearns, lennox lewis, & wladimir were finished products before manny steward got to them?
ricardo lopez, humberto gonzalez & the marquez brothers were finished products before beristain got to them?
manny pacquiao was a finished product before roach got to him? amir khan, who trained him to get his first world title?
Those trainers i gave you cant argue. Go defend the 2 mayweathers & why they havent trained anybody else other than Afraid Mayweather jr. Refute my posts about them.
All were olympic medalists before Stewart and Roach got them. Floyd Sr was at least able to train his son from scratch since childhood. Roger Mayweather im not so sure about....and that's what we're discussing here.
well that's exactly what i'm saying. Chemistry is good between them but most times it seems like uncle roger is simply a workout buddy as opposed to a trainer to improve his fighter.
during pac/cotto 24/7 Michael Koncz made a statement saying he believed that Roach would not be considered anywhere near as good of a trainer if it wasnt for Pacquiao.
So i started asking myself the same thing about Roger Mayweather. How much credit does he deserve for Floyd's success?
Being that we're not insiders of Team Mayweather, we can only assume he's there for a very important reason.
Best way to really know is to interview Floyd about how good his uncle has been as his trainer. As far as we know, he's only had two trainers. His dad and his uncle. Maybe his uncle Jeff also played a part while Floyd was growing up.
I think some folks read too much into Roger's position because he seems nonchalant about his work, guessing he makes easy money training his nephew.
trainer? you mean pad man. He hasnt done jack outside of Afraid Mayweather jr. He's the same as jack mosley, roy sr. & enzo calzaghe. true test of a great trainer is training multiple fighters into title fights & into becoming great fighters. Not riding your nephew's talented coattails & fool people into thinking he's great.
His brother is another one. The steroid expert former ex convict drug dealer. He hasnt led or guided any fighters into prominence or championship tittle fights, but since he SPEAKS & YELLS to everybody that he's the greatest trainer of all time some poor saps actually believe it. Does that sound familiar? O yea his son, keeps on saying he's the greatest fighter of all time when his only bonafide true hall of famer on his resume is a old oscar & old career featherweight marquez.
It always amazes me how gullible people are. Great trainers have multiple fighters that become great & win world titles.
other trainers during the Crack Brothers times;
Nacho Beristain - rafa & juan marquez, Chiqiuto Gonzalez, daniel zaragoza, ricardo lopez the list goes on.
Freddie Roach - Pacquiao, Marlon Starling, Virgil Hill, micheal moorer the list goes on & now Amir Khan.
Emmanuel Steward - tommy hearns, wladimir klitckho, lennox lewis, the list goes on.
Floyd Senior - giving birth to Afraid jr. then going to jail for selling drugs, getting fired by chad dawson, & training joan guzman to NOT MAKE WEIGHT vs Nate Campbell.
Roger Slobber Tooth tiger - Afraid jr., cornelius lock, & melissa st. vale who he beats & tries to choke.
Floyd Sr. is such a great trainer that he trains hatton by working with him in the orthodox stance when ricky is about to fight the greatest southpaw since pernell whitaker.
How can people be so gullible?
that list you got is horrible. Most of those trainers got those guys when they were already big time. Thats the case for nearly every guy you named
