What is it that Pavlik does besides throw jabs and straight rights? He's a one trick pony. Williams throws body shots, uppercuts, and makes them come from different angles. He doesn't have the best jab, but it can keep guys at bay when the situation calls for it.
It'll be interesting to see if Williams can force Pavlik to be more defensive and let him unload his hundreds of punches, or if Pavlik's reach and strength force Williams into more of a defensive mode and allow him to headhunt with his own power shots...
But as everyone has said, no schooling will take place on Pavliks part lol
Your crazy if you think my point isn't a valid one.
Hopkins has fought his whole career(over 50 fights) at 160 and above.
While Trinidad fought like 5-6 (3 were losses)at that weight or more, not because he was naturally that big but because he was at the end if his career. Hopkins was only his second fight at that weight.
Sure Hopkins is a special fighter and has skills but if Trinidad could have had him at 147 ...he would have pulled a Pac vs. Hoya. Hopkins would have been weight drained and Koed.
Someone should have told that to Trinidad when he knocked out the career jr. middleweight, Vargas, or when Cotto beat Quintana or when Hopkins beat Tarver or when Pacquiao beat Hatton, etc.
I wasn't saying if Hopkins had to squeeze down to 147 literally, it was in a P4P sense. What I meant was, hypothetically, if Hopkins with all his attributes met Trinidad at his best weight, in his best form, he'd still beat him.
There's a point where size matters more than skill, but Hopkins and Wright are 2 defensive fighters that would have schooled Tito at any weight.
I don't think at 160, Williams won't be in usual form. If Pavlik beats him, it won't be because of size.
Pavlik would not school Williams. He is not the type of boxer that would give an a opponent a boxing lesson. If Pavlik wins it would be by KO or close decision. But, I got Williams in this one.
Yeah, Pavlik has no chance of schooling Williams. His only chance is by KO and since Kelly is more of an accumulation type puncher, and his output is going to be reduced by Paul's insane activity. Paul's defense isn't the greatest, but his chin has shown to be superb. Gotta go with Williams, unless I'm given some pretty good odds.

Both Williams and Pavlik have high punch output.
Pavlik is a KO puncher and has better defense than Williams.
Pavlik should win the fight but I doubt it would be by boxing clinic, I think hes going to get the KO or win on points. For Williams to win I think hed need to use his reach ,box on the outside and have good defense and I have yet to see anything from him indicating that he can do this.
Williams will get Koed...He is doing what Trinidad did with Hopkins....Williams stepped into big boys territory.
That shit is ridiculous.
Bernard had the skill, intangibles, and style to beat Trinidad, size had nothing to do with it. They could have fought that shit at 147 and it would still have been the same outcome.
Tito had the power to knock out a lot of cats in the middleweight division. Hopkins and Taylor couldn't knock out Joppy after Trinidad. Matter of fact, the only other fighter to knockout Joppy is Bute and it was a shot version.
Williams will outwork and outpoint Pavlik.
So how is it that now a 44 year old man beat Kelly hes no good? If Kelly still has his hunger and i havent destroyed him then he will be ok. I said before and after our fight he is the heir to my middleweight thrown he just has to find it within himself to take it. Williams is no joke they dont call him the punisher for no reason.
Pavlik is another overrated Top Rank fighter. Not as overrated as Juan Ma though. I think P-Will is gonna take this match up. Throws a better variety of punches.
If Williams can improve his defense then I'll take him by UD. If Williams stands in front Pavlik then its going to be a early night. If the fight goes the distance I cant see how Williams doesnt pull out the UD.
