It's the biggest fight out there in terms of money. The casual fans and the public want to see this fight the most.
And yet all this crap from Roach, Arum, Mayweather, Mayweather Sr. seems to be getting in the way. Neither fighter wants to back down from the bigger share of the pie that will probably net both fighters eight figures, money that 99.9% of people on this planet will never see in their lifetimes.
With all these roadblocks, do you think that the fight can be made ?
It has to happen. Even if Pacquiao loses to Cotto people will just say Pac was too small for Cotto and want to see a fight with Floyd. It is the biggest fight in boxing, no matter what happens over the next few months, and the only thing that changes that is if Floyd fights someone else and loses.
i say no he wont get pass Cotto many are over looking Cotto he ant Hattan he ant weight drain like Oscar.
Jury's still out on Cotto vs. Pacquiao for me. I don't think Pacquiao can trade with Cotto, he'll have to pick his spots like he did with Oscar and use ring generalship.
A year ago, I would have said Cotto KO's Pacman. Now....
But yeah, it's pretty obvious that this whole discussion is moot if Pacquiao doesn't get past Cotto.
Then again, PBF gave Zab Judah a chance coming off a loss to Baldomir, so who knows...
i honestly dont think mayweather will fight anyone at the top.. even though i would love to see him fight pac, mosley or margarito if he ever comes back.
Cooler heads must prevail in negotiations for a fight of this magnitude and fortune. I'm sure there will be clauses and stipulations on both sides of the table that are expected to be exercised.
For the sake of boxing and the fans who support it, it should all be worked out for the benefit of all concerned. It can be a win-win situation for everyone involved, including the fans.
Perhaps, it's not being rushed for a reason. They're just letting it brew until it reaches climatic proportions. Enough so that it's breaks all previous records set.
I honestly feel, though, that if Manny were promoting himself, things would go more smoothly.
I say no but it could happen. There's a lot of things in the way though.
1. Bob Arum and Floyd Mayweather - The two hate each other and Floyd has already said he won't deal with Arum
2. Manny has to beat Cotto first - this is not a slam dunk, if Manny loses I doubt the fight ever happens
3. GBP - Floyd seems to be dealing exclusively with Golden Boy and I believe has some agreement to give them an undisclosed number of fights.
4. Egos - Floyd, Pacman, Roach, Arum all have big egos and it would be a nightmare of a fight in terms of negotiations.
While there are a lot of things in the way, there's only a few reasons the fight could be made:
1. Money talks - this would undoubtedly be the biggest money fight since DLH-Mayweather and money can convince people easily.
2. It just makes sense - the two best fighters in the world. The public demand is high and it's the only real mega mega fight in boxing right now.
That said, in boxing, often times egos and time get in the way of our fantasy fights and outweigh the reasons why the fight should be made. Who knows, in 6 months Manny could be that guy who got KOed in the first round against Cotto and he'll return to lightweight. We just don't know.
If the IRS cut into Mr boat buyer's JMM payday too much, he'll be inclined to accept 50-50 or perhaps 60-40 Pac if Cotto don't KO Pac in Nov. If his payday for JMM is satisfactory to his needs, I think he quits again, cuz he won't take equal or less $ for a Pac fight.
Mayweather needs to Paco if he wants money and the respect. It's inevitable that they fight. But i think they're waiting to see what'll happen with Cotto and Paco.
You're probably right. It just seems like they're dancing around each other, though...I wish they would have fought this fall....
as much as i want the fight to go through...mayweather is too shitty when it concerns money he wants the bigger cut which wont happen. So its either mayweather yields or it doesent happen.
People may not like it but technically Floyd has every right to demand the bigger split

Offcourse.Yes.
If P;ac beats Cotto it's up next. But I have a feeling Miguel will have something to say about it.
How is Pacquiao losing to Cotto prevent the fight at all? PBF fought Judah with Judah losing his previous fight.
