I was just talking w some guys on my hockey team and telling them about all the huge fights coming up from now till the end of the year and i started thinking...out of EVERY big fight...Pac/Cotto, May/Marquez, RJJ/Lacey, Pavlik/Williams, Arreola/Vitali, Haye/Valuev, the entire SMW tourney...who stands 2 gain the most from a victory in their respective contests?
You could pick a number of guys for a number of reasons but I tell you one thing, if youre not a Pac fan then you dont ever want to come on any boxing site ever again if Pac wins by KO. The only time you will want to come back is if he loses or maybe if he signs to fight Floyd but the boxing world is going to go crazy if Pac knocks out Cotto. They will act like he is GOD and the GOAT
My question is why did u include RJJ-Lacy as big fights comin up? FNF on ESPN 28 Aug w/ Cloud-Woods and Urango-Bailey is better than RJJ-Lacy. But seriously all fall fights winners could gain HUGE momentum and bigger pay-days with victories.
of course its a great win for marquez. but compare that to what will happen to arreolla's career if he wins, arreolla gains more. win or lose vs mr.counterfeit cash, there is unfinished business vs pacquiao. Whose career will gain more?
Marquez is p4p 2#, established star, HOF, headliner, & makes great money already. Win or lose he's still that. Compare that to a arreolla win or lose its not even close.
I still say Marquez. A win over either Klitschko is big, but I don't think either brother is that good to begin with. They won't go down in the history books as great champions.
I say Marquez, he would hand Mayweather his first defeat, that's going to be a big deal. Secondly I'd say Cotto, if he beats Paq, I'm sure his only loss will be portrayed as tainted and sets up some potential for huge bouts next year. Winner of Mayweather/Marquez, Paq rematch and/or Shane Mosley/Margarito II.
After that I'd have to give it to Arreola, if he manages to beat a Vitali, he starts a tide in bringing back the American Heavyweight division. Not far behind though would be both Pavlik or Williams, if Pavlik wins he'll at least somewhat avenge his loss to Hopkins then possibly set up a Chad Dawson showdown and the same can be said for Williams.
JMM got no business even fightin at WW. Even less than Pac does, since Pac at least fought a weakened opponent at WW. If JMM wins, it's much bigger than any other win out there. I hope he does it. :boxing:
he's already a established star. 2# p4p. He's a headliner. going to the hall of fame. He makes great money.
I agree, but Mayweather is a very special win. Despite the shit he gets on here, he is a great fighter. Marquez gets support from the real boxing community, but he will get supreme recognition from everyone if he beats Mayweather. Not to mention a probable shot at Pacquiao, the current p4p best, for a third time.
Marquez, and it's not even close. He's fighting FLOYD MAYWEATHER, the best fighter of the decade, and he's a huge underdog, as well as undersized. Floyd is undefeated, unlike any of the other opponents of the fighters mentioned in this thread.
