Style-wise, what former boxer does Manny Pacquiao remind you of? I'm just wondering b/c I feel that at this point, Pacquiao's style is for the most part very unique to himself. Can anyone name from other eras a style that appeared similar to pacquiao's. I'd be interested in checking out some of their fights.
somewhat a mix of head movement and power (relative to weight) of tyson, feet and ferocity of pryor and aggresiveness and durability of duran. then plus some of his own skills.
ppl talk about his balance being bad. we may see it that way but i think for him it isn't. i see it as his trademark and one his aces. that's where he mostly offsets his opponent coming in and where he creates his weird angle power punches. remember the first KD of pac-em3?
There's definitely a randomness to his movements and balance. And although there are probably many times that he doesn't know exactly where he will land neither does his opponent. Thus, any margin of error he commits actually serves to benefit him as it makes him more difficult to anticipate.

I wouldn't consider Mayweather's style complex, its a relatively simple technique but having the timing and speed for it to be affective is the "hard" part.
Complex and simple are such undefined terms as applied to boxing styles that they mean pretty much nothing. What's complex or simple to one fan isn't to another. I can say for sure that a Duddy and Balboa have simple styles.. To say Mayweather is simple is baffling to me.
Watching Pac with head movements/in-and-outs and onslaughts, reminds me of a prime Tyson. But Pac's punches are mostly straight lefts and right jabs. But Tyson does the Dempsey Roll from a peek-a-boo stance.
Outside of the likes of Bernard Hopkins, Joe Calzaghe or Mayweather.. who would you consider to have a truly complex style? As simple as his style may be at it's core, it's IMO actually more complex then 95% of boxers out there.

what hes doing isnt rocket science. come from a unique angle, unload, get in and get out. simple doesnt imply anything other than that. Just because its simple doesnt mean its easy. Nor does it imply i could do it. I couldnt.

Wow.. you sound like such a hugger...I would gave to go with Pryor
I click refresh on the main page and see BrendanWoodside is last post on the thread.. Especially after last post i knew this would be the sort of reply I earned. It's true though. If there was a fighter who really mirrored Pac who fought a couple decades ago you'd consider looking up his fights.
he does sort of have a likeness in his motions to Duran. I think he definitely has that hunger to hit people similar to that of Pryor. He also sort of has Tyson's explosiveness.. I'd hate for this thread to read like a give Manny head session but it's hard to describe his style without ultimately sounding that way.

Closest I can think of is Mike Tyson except a FAR superior boxer.

just another hater dude, dont even try to cover up... you cant hide what you really are
Pac is pac, his own style modeled after himself with added improvements every fight.
Yes, the hate is so strong in this post. Reading and comprehension are obviously becoming a non-factor in schools.
when you said it's simple you seem so confident that you are be able to do what pac does coz it simple,....do you expect anyone to believe that?.....what you said was arrogance at its finest....
I never implied that. You did.
I say pernell, but waiting to see how he does against welterweights. Pacman will always be an ATG at anything below welterweight, same as some other ATG fighters at the divisions they dominated. I guess that is why there are ATG at every divisions, which is fair. I cannot put pacman or sugar ray in same category as ali or a true bantamweight. This cotto fight should let us know where he stands. Remember everyone had tyson on a different pedestal before buster fight.
