Its like college football, both systems are junk and don't make sense but... if your the #10 guy and beat the #1 guy, the #1 guy still remains on top, you just get to move up. Then if by instance the #1 guy loses again, you again move up the ranks and then he'll fall. Then it becomes a question of strength of opposition and outcomes. At that point, if those occurences happen, the boxing public will have a hard time not having him in the top 3. Why the world pays attention to P4P, I'll never know. I guess Ring should just say **** it and make a new P4P belt and call it a day. Imagine that cluster****

Why this question keep comin up? Cotto ain't high enuf in the current p4p rankings to immediately jump to #1 if he beats Pac. He might move up, but knockin out Pac at WW might not even raise him more than 2 places. #2 would be moved to #1.

dont get me wrong I think it will be a great fight, i just have a feeling that Cotto will be the better man,Pcman is great but i think Cotto will be too big for him but i guess we will see what happens.

JMM should be #1 if he beats PBF. IMO he has beaten the better quality opponents as of late and will again out do Manny if he beats PBF. However, it will not happen. Manny Pacquiao is the "face of boxing" and so even if he loses to Cotto he will stay as the #1 P4P in the world as he is more popular.

The highest I see Cotto going is #3.

When Cotto brutally destroys Pacman , will he be considered #1 p4p king? no, that's the same kinda mentality / logic hatton had before the fight w/ pac, and you all know it's faulty. if cotto beats pac, he will be top 5, but not #1. if cotto then goes on to beat mosley in a rematch he will be #2. if cotto then goes on to beat floyd, then and only then will he be #1.

That's only if JMM beats Floyd. If Floyd wins, hes #2 or 3 as he has to beat Pac (or the man who beats Pac) to take #1 and he doesn't get as much p4p credit for beating a guy 2 weight classes lower than him. If Floyd beats the number 2 p4p man after the lengthy lay-off in his return fight (and Cotto beats Pac), i'm sure Floyd would be regarded number 1 if we like it or not. It's the position he left vacant, it's the possibility that position could be re-filled. p4p lists are not to be taken seriously, but i'm sure if the top 2 outcomes happen, Floyd will be sitting at the top.
