I think Floyd needs to bring back his jab and continue to use it more often than he has in the past. But, I'm not a pro boxer so it's easy for me to say it. I just thought the "JAB" was the weapon to have as number 1 (like Roger said) and if you have Floyd's reach, why not use it as your main weapon?
Has Floyd watched to many Roy Jones Jr. fights?
Imagine if Roy concentrated on perfecting his JAB and used it more often.
I personally don't get. Anybody that actually boxes know why you would avoid using the jab?
Anybody have interview connections to ask Floyd this?
He doesn't need to, he catches guys with lead rights and hooks because his rhythm is so unorthodox. It just makes it even more difficult to adjust to him since he goes against some of the most ingrained conventions.
he said himself he never gets into a rhythm. something i notice hopkins does as well. only the well schooled seem to use this tactic period.

like some folks mentioned before floyd likes to jab to the body instead of to the head that's how he got countered in the judah fight, but yeah floyd jabs just not to the head.
floyd does make fights harder than they have to be..he couldve dominated oscar and end hatton earlier..if he just snapped the jab more..but i think floyd does these things on purpose to set up rematches
He isnt setting anything up. Floyd tries to fight in a certain comfort zone, and if he has control of a fight he isnt in any hurry to impress anybody, he is just trying to win.

Floyd is a pot-shotter now... pot-shotters don't use thier jabs
A jab for him is detrimental..why risk getting countered throwing a 1-2 if you can have the same chance of landing with just the 2.... Look at the fight where he got caught once I think against Corley it was because his jab got countered.

He uses his jab all the time. Its hard to notice it because he goes to the body with it.
...he mostly threw left hooks and lead rights in that fight and jabbed here and there
he would jab to the body to get him to move his hands down. then he would go upstairs with the left hook. i was a good game plan
Everything Floyd did in that fight to me was him at his best. He used every weapon available to him.
Oh yea. Possibly the most masterful performance I've ever seen. I LOVE that fight. Show people that fight and ask if Floyd's boring...
I thought I remember him using the jab a lot in the Chico fight. I haven't watched it in a while but I remember being impressed with it.

People watch Mayweather vs JLC I and II, he used the jab ALOT, only problem is he didn't go toe to toe that often. Still, I don't know why he doesn't throw the jab alot more, what a waste.
Because Tyson and Floyd are alike how?
Two different types of fighters, Tyson jabbed to get on the inside and make his opponents throw and miss, so he can counter. Floyd is different fighter tactically and goes via the way of the least risk.
Oh, and forgot to add, Floyd did use jab to set up the one two three against Hatton, only he did not do it as often as I would have liked him to do.
Understand what you are saying...
I was looking at it from this perspective: They both have good timing. At least Tyson did while training with Rooney.
Tyson was always smaller than his opponents in height and reach (as well as weight most of the time) but it was "Timing" that allowed him to use the jab effectively.
That's what I was talking about.

Fighters who rely on reflexes and athleticism rarely use their jab...even though it in theory should be their best friend...maybe when Floyd ages a little more, he'll realize that he should've used it more. But when you're that gifted, hey more power to them.
