If its his last he needs Floyd to define his legacy. Beating Cotto and Marquez again would just be icing on the cake but beating Floyd would solidify his stature as an ATG.
If he doesn't beat Floyd then he isn't best of his generation. I think Floyd needs him as well. But, if Pac and Floyd don't fight and Pac retires, Floyd can reclaim it easily by fighting and beating JMM, Shane and Cotto.
Fighters can retire whenever they want; it's their right and their choice. Fighters don't owe anything to the game because the game takes something out of you for the rest of your life. You are basically getting paid for entertainment and losing your health.
He better not retire after one more fight, he just officially became one of the very few crossover stars in boxing! I hope he fights for a few more years.
Exactly!
He can't retire now that he's bigger than ever.
I'd be disappointed if he retires.
I hope not, I wanted him to fight some of these young guys coming up.
In a perfect world. Pacman loses and passes the torch. Pac just went main stream and whomever beats him becomes huge. I always thought Ortiz would be the next big thing and beating Manny would put him in the lime light and help his star shine brighter. It aint gonna happen though.
i dont think he "owes" anyone shit
however, i recall reading something about him retiring this year to run for public office in manila (or something to that effect) i wonder how thats going along for manny
over 50 fights...been boxing since he was 16....dude doesnt owe us shit...
of course he owes boxing. when mayweather retired 2 years ago, everyone was complaining that he retired before doing what he is "SUPPOSE TO DO".
I for one do think that boxers owe something to boxing/fans especially if they become millionaires. if a fighter fights his whole career but doesn't get much out of it, then it is the fan that owes the fighter but in the case of a millionaire fighter, he should give the fans everything they want before he retires. that is just my take on it.
I'm confused, Cotto shouldn't fight Pacman because he isn't a true WW.
Your now saying, It's OK, for Floyd to fight PacMan, who is also a WW?
Stop :wank:that's just some :bs2:
Read the fukkin post. I said I wanna see Pac-JMM 3, I don't wanna see Pac v Mr boat buyer.
Pac is already an ATG. I'd rather see JMM 3 than a Mr boat buyer fight.

How often does a fighter retire from the sport instead of the sport retiring him. If I had money to bet, he's not done for at least 3 more years, comebacks included.
what he said.
pac would be doing boxing a big disfavor if he left after 1 fight. he just became a mainstream star and he owes boxing atleast 2-3 more years of good fights. if pac retires, boxing is fuked again.

He's not going to retire after 1 more fight. He's just having delusions of being in politics again. But he's at the height of his boxing career and noone in the philippines will vote for him while he's still at his physical peak. If he retires...it will be to run for some kind of office. He will lose...unretire because the sport is really hard to walk away from when there's still more just within reach...and the layoff will come back to bite him in the ass.
