For me it Morales Barrera. After that fight I knew I would watch forever. I watched a good amount before that, don't get me wrong, I've seen a lot. But Morales-Barrera will always be the fight that got me hooked.
Unbelievable action. True warriors. And that sort of unrefined shine that great boxing matches often have.
What was the fight/moment that got you addicted to boxing?
I started to follow boxing in mid 2007 but I began to be interested in 2006. It wasn't any fight in particular. The fact that 2 men fight for 12 rounds made me respect boxers. Men have died in this sport. Boxers have some guts. Knowing they can lose their lives they still step into that ring and put up a good fight.
After that I started waching boxing matches on TV, then I began to read on famous boxers and why they are loved by fans and remain unforgotten.
Then early this year I joined a boxing club.
My love and knowledge of boxing keeps increasing as each day goes by.
I learn the sweet science at the boxing gym.
As I follow boxing more I get to learn about new boxers and as I read autobiographies about boxers of the past I learn why they are remembered as ATG and loved by die hard fans.
Somewhere in 1989 or 1990 when I was like 4 or 5 years old. I remember watching fights with my dad and wasn't very interested until I saw a Pernell Whitaker fight. So then he showed me some older fights, classics from the 70s and just about every Ray Leonard fight we could get our hands on. Once I started watching the two of them the rest was history. A few years later I started watching just about everything on TV. Been a love fest ever since.
tyson holyfield. but my people wasto cheap to order fights. so lot of them i missed but i would always keep my ear open. now i spend all my saturday nights at home.
When I stayed with my dad. When I was just a kid I remember we use to get together (the whole family including uncles, aunts, cousins etc) and watch all the big name fighters of the time. I just remember everyone in my family use to go crazy for Prime Mike Tyson Fights.....I remember being 4 and 5 and their being 30-50 something people all packed in the living room watching Mike fight. Just the whole feel from that and how involved everyone was got me into watching boxing.
Next one of the main guys that kept me interested is Prince Naseem Hamed. He brought so much swag and charisma to the game...and even tho most people didnt like him and even were glad he lost to barrera I didnt even care and would pay money to have another guy like him in the sport of boxing.
I was always a casual fan that checked out the occasional big fight. But it was Gattii vs Ward that got me hooked. It was the closest thing i'd ever seen to a real life version of the rocky vs creed matchup.
hmmm, i dunno.i honesly didnt like boxing, at first. now, im a hopeless addict looking for my next fix. id say, castillo-corrales did it for me. watcing that shit live was amazing. it wasnt just a fight, i was an experience.
1st fight i saw on TV was Duran -Leonard I and my father was a big fan of Muhammad ALI.
Mega fights are shown here live every sunday ( Saturday night in las vegas ) for free. but i started to like boxing more than basketball (Addicted)when the FORUM's arrived between 2002 and 2003.
Morales and Barrera lololololol didnt Pacman KO those B level fighters..
yES WHEN THEY WERE PASSED THERE PRIME THEY WERE B FIGHTERS BUT THATS WHAT PAC DOES FIGHT OLD WEIGHT DRAINED FIGHTERS. u probably became a fan when pac came to the scene and now think u know it all. By the way if they are b level fighters then pac only beats b level fighters......
I became addicted around the morales era. When i was young i fell in love with the sport but lost some interest then. Fell in love with it again. So probably since i could actually understand anything probably like 6 maybe. Chavez was god in our eyes till i actually found out he beat alot of bums...viva sanchez
"Rocky" got me into boxing.
I saw it when I was somewhere around 8 or 9.
Then I wanted to start watching real fights, and I did around 10 or so.
Got into Joe Frazier pretty heavily, to the point that I talk about him to my friends and family constantly.
A neighbor found out about my admiration of Frazier, and showed me some some VHS tapes of other Philadelphia fighters like Meldrick, Saad, and he showed me B-Hop/Mercado II.
I've followed B-Hop's career ever since, and then, around 14, I just started watching everything.
