Former world cruiserweight champion Jean Marc Mormeck is stepping up to heavyweight and is focusing on a rematch David Haye.
The 37 year-old Frenchman, 33-4-(22), has not fought since losing his WBC and WBA titles to the Englishman in November 2007. Mormeck floored Haye in the fourth round of a thrilling battle before Haye rallied and eventually stopped the exhausted Mormeck in round seven.
Following a long lay off Mormeck is moving north to trade punches with the big hitters and Haye is his No.1 target.
“I would like to have revenge against him,” Mormeck told French newspaper L’Equipe. “I am aware of the impact of his punch, I am not crazy. But I deeply believe that I can beat Haye, it is my final target.
“I am not issuing a challenge, what I plan to do is do things in the right way, achieve fights before I get to fight him again.
“Yes, I make the step up to heavyweight,”
If a fight with Mormeck was to happen it would not be anytime soon as the Londoner has struck a three fight deal with heavyweight champions Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko , the first fight takes place against Wladimir on June 20.
Hmmmm..... Pretty interesting move by Mormack, and i don't know whether is a good move for him. Think he could of stayed at Cruiserweight, were i think he could of got himself back in the mix with the elite and looked for a showdown with Adamek.
Last time a weight drained Haye was to much for him in his own country , and i dout things would be very differrent at heavyweight.
lol, its not happening. Mormeck is understandably just doing this for a big payday but he isn't even good enough to take over the cruiserweight division let alone the hw division at this point.
Mormeck used to be the best cruiserweight in the world but i agree that he is to old now to compete with someone like Adamek, back at his best Mormeck was great to watch but his stamina was always a bit crap and now it will probably be worse unless he paces him self better at heavyweight.

Apparently King offered Mormeck the chance to fight Ruiz when he was cruiserweight champ, Mormeck said he is going to be fighting at heavyweight over the summer time it will be intresting to see who they get, it probably wont be anyone to good as he will need to shake off the ring rust then maybe fight a good opponent at the end of the year.
Yes, his money is gone now, so he wants to get back in the ring.
Problem is, he can't get down to 200 anymore.
I didn't realize that i knew he had his own clothing company and was trying to get into promoting but boxers do seem to have a habit of losing all there money lol
If Mormeck does go to heavyweight he should not weigh any more than 205-215 imo, he would have terrible stamina if he weighed more than that, A fight against someone like Estrada would be good but i think he is getting to old to really make a big impact now though he is always exciting to watch something you cant say about most heavyweights.
