The way De La Hoya looked against Pacman, I think just about any notable welterweight would've beaten him. Not trying to take anything away from Pacman, but DLH looked pathetic that night. I say Mosley, Cotto, Margarito, Berto, Clottey, Williams, and maybe a few more would've also beat Oscar that night.
What do you think?
ive no prob if ppl did change their mind come fight night. but the thing is, Oskie has been weighing a few lbs only over 150 even long before the training camp started. so it would be really impossible for him to bulk up 155-160 on fight night after camp. he only went up that high to be competitive at middleweight. did you see him against sturm? flabby. he's really a natural ww to jmw.
There is a big (and it looks like these days it is increasing, see Guzman or Pacquiao for example) difference between the weigh in and the weight on fight night. Oscar was coming in at 160 or more for years now. At 154 probably more than that. A natural welter is someone who weighs ~160. Oscar is a natural welter. If Oscar was weighing ~150 in training camp, that was a bad mistake. Pac capitalized on that too. I think Pac was ready for a much tougher fight than the Oscar he actually faced gave him. Pac could have won even against a guy who actually threw punches. He had shown new stuff in the Diaz fight. Pac fought a perfect fight against Oscar, but Oscar was in such shape, that he did not really need to.
Don't you think it is legit to change your mind the minute you learn Oscar weighed 147 on fight night? Because that is a big chunk of information right there, and I was watching it with friends (ricans btw, so not so much bias there). All of us were like...what? why on earth? did we actually read that correctly?
One thing is imagining 160lbs Oscar beating Pacquiao. One thing is knowing he is coming in at a weight he probably did not carry on fight night since the mid 90s...

if this was your real thought BEFORE the fight then you are in the minority choosing pac to win. the majority, outside of calling this fight a circus, had dlh ftw.

I'm being very real. What logic are you referring to that Oscar should have won? The fact that he had multiple titles at multiple weight classes? The fact that he was a bigger fighter than Manny, both in stature and reputation? The fact that he had more "big fight" experience? I base my personal logic on the fights that I've seen, and based upon that - I felt that Oscar had a puncher's chance; at best to beat Manny.

Start time: 10:05
So how many people watched the video?
Everything was involved. You can start from the beginning or just go to Oscar's condition at the time I mentioned above.
The second I saw DLH had only gained like 2 pounds, I was like "bad news". He should've outweighed Manny by 10 pounds at least. Then I saw him and he looked dried and I was like, "baaaad news". Then I saw the first round and was like "it's over".
lets get real. almost nobody gave him a chance. take a look at the threads before the match. dlh was favored to win because logic points out he should.

What type of shape do you think Oscar was in then? You think he was prime still?
the same shape when he fought floyd, and the fact that Floyd was comfortable against the rope and not doing much ring and head movement gave him the chances to throw punches..
nope. he wasn't weight drained. like you said, pac fought the perfect fight.
dlh not throwing= pac's movement
call me a nuthugger if you want. cause that's the way i see it. i really don't care if you disagree with me. i just call it how i see it.

Ok, sure mate.
:fing02:
ok. wanna be technical about it
Pac TKO Oscar
anyways, i think quitting is much worse than a KO... much more to a fighter who had one fight at 135. and you were suppose to beat this guy...
:lol1:
Yeah, sure. if it makes you feel better. Just pointing out that a KO is when you knock someone down and they can't get back up or they are too hurt to go on. Pac didn't even really hurt him. He just couldn't do anything to win.
So, you think Oscar should have just kept plodding about doing nothing while getting hit over and over and not being able to move or defend? You obviously never stepped in a ring before. You are also plain stupid and sadistic if you think he should have kept going on with it or that there is anything wrong with quitting if you're in that situation.:nonono:
Every notable welter at the time (Margarito, Cotto, Williams, Mosley, Clottey) would have beat the DLH that lost to Pac and the DLH that lost to Mayweather.
It still amazes me how many people think DLH was a wrecking ball in the ring the last few years.
much more to a fighter who had one fight at 135. and you were suppose to beat this guy...
The only people that said Oscar was "supposed to" beat Manny - were those that rely far too much on marquee names and don't look at the entire breadth of work for Manny, and accept the decline/change in Oscar's skills. The only real argument for Oscar to beat Manny was that he was the bigger fighter...a gross miscalculation by all that thought that was going to be the deciding factor in that bout.

- he was NOT weight-drained, NOR shot. look at the first few rounds. DLH was missing miserably when he did try to punch, or getting countered. pac goes in and out, side to side. that's why dlh wasn't punching. cause there is nothing to hit.
You don't really believe that do you? Seriously? You don't think Oscar was weight drained and done in that night huh? :lol1:
Pac fought great. The perfect fight, but, Oscar was flat out weight drained to the point of being a walking corpse. Shot as shot can be.
Pacquiao DID ko DLH....
just sayin'
Actually, only Hopkins KO'd Oscar. He just quit against Pac. Big difference. He couldn't win, so he quit. Hopkins knocked him out.
Hopkins KO Oscar
Oscar RTD vs Pac
Whatever benny. You choose to believe your fighters spin, just like i do mine.
Its a boxing forum anyway lets just agree to disagree......
What was "my fighters" spin?
And who is "my fighter"?
You like generalizing pac fans too much benny. Dans aint a hater but im sure you are.
I think Cotto and PBF will most likely beat pac.
I'm not a hater but you want me to be one because I'm willing to put things out there and bring them into a discussion.
If I was a hater, why would I like Pac?
Disagreements on things are different from hate.
