Can JMM hang at 140?

140 is stretching it for JMM. Pacquaio just seems to be getting bigger & bigger as time goes on, & think he will handle 140 very well, but Marquez doesn't quite have the frame for it. Skill wise he still beats most guys, but a lot of the big 140 pounders like Hatton or Urango come in well over 150, & against a guy like Hatton who is good at using that weight....

Do you guys think JMM can be successful at 140 pounds? Before the Diaz fight I picked JMM to destroy Diaz and while I give Diaz credit for being a very good fighter I think a lot of the reason he did as well as he did was because he was the bigger stronger guy. In my opinion he could beat a lot of the top 10 of the division based on his skills and I'd even pick him over campbell but I think Hatton would just be physically too much for him. What do you guys think about his chances against the division as a whole? Actually it will be good for his body to go up in weight he kind of struggle to make it and i also agree that he is a very skillful fighter he can beat top opposition in 140lbs.But guys like Hatton,timothy Bradley,Junior Witter,will prove to be too strong for him unless he can prove us wrong wich i believe he will!!

I think he'd do just fine at 140.

I'm honestly not sure. If it were up to me, I'd have him stay at 135 and be the face of the Lightweight division.

Marquez came in at 140 last night, which was just the same as his fight time weight at 130 when he fought Pacquiao and Juarez when. He even weighed at 137-38 when he was at 126 (Jaca, Salido) at fight time. Despite moving up two weightclasses, Marquez did not really get bigger, he was just draining less weight prior to the weigh-ins. Unless he employs the likes of Mackie Shilstone, he may not fare well at 140 because he would be going up against fighters who would easily have 10 or so pounds on him come fight time.

I didn't realize Bradley held in such high esteem. Good showing against Whitter I guess but I was overly impressed. Am I missing something? Yeah I think he is overrated on this site, he is a good young fighter but makes some mistakes. I think at this moment kendall holt is a more experienced and complete fighter and I think he'l beat bradley

jmm can compete at 140 but he needs to be somewhat selective about who he fights

considering how desperate cambell is for some money , and how terrible he looked in his last fight , give jmm him for an easy tune up and than hatton/pac

Yea I agree, the one problem Marquez might have is that he doesn't clinched or at least tries to avoid something like that. He's a bad match up for Hatton for sure. :boxing:

I think JMM and Pacquiao will have some problems @140. Imagine Juan Urango hitting both of them. Especially since Diaz had him hurt early. I don't think they can be able to take the power or be strong enough to compete.

I think He would beat Holt, Witter, Torres (depends how marquez takes a shot at 140) but loses to Bradley. Pacquiao would proberbly be to close to call but I think Hattons clinching would really throw Marquez rhythm off.

Hang? Of course he can. He is a great great fighter and technically superb. Obviously he will lose a little speed and is 35 but he can definitely hang with any of the top 140 pounders. Who he would beat and lose to could only be established if or when we see him fight at the weight I could see him beating everyone besides hatton, campbell and pacquiao fairly easily. Campbell would be a good fight but I think JMM takes it. Hatton is a terrible match up for JMM because of his size and physical nature. If they were both naturally the same weight I say JMM destroys hatton badly though.

If JMM moves up to weight he should take a tune up fight to see how he does

i think if he goes to 140 he should look for the nate campbell, fight or a fight with judah, it would be a fight that would alow him to see what he is like at the weight but at the same time it would be winnable for him. at 140 i see ricky being too strong and too tough, JMM wouldn't be able to keep ricky off him. last night he looked a little slower to me so i hink he should stick to LW. there where at one time plenty of names at 135 (campbell, casamayor, diaz, katsidis, pacman and JMM) in fact it was red hot and 2nd only to the WW's.
