I would assume they pick a Pinoy Holiday. This will be the first time in many years that a top Mexican fighter hasn't fought in this 5 de Mayo weekend, boxing riding on the shoulders of the Mexican boxing fan.
and Floyd is irrelevant in those times. none whatsoever mention his name or that cinco de mayo belongs to Floyd's. up until now :headbang:
The point completely went over your head
Contenders putting Shadyfizzle in his place.
Lol, 5 de Mayo an American thing, lol. Flips really got nothing they wish they had a big day for them but they don't how sad, lol. You can always drink with the Mexicans and Irish and join in our Holiday.
A mexican holiday that's not federally observed in mexico?? Sorry. You fail.
It's only federally observed in the US so it's an american holiday.:unitedsta
Good point. It used to be federally observed in Mexico up until a few years ago. I think it's only a regional thing now though. For example, I know the state of Puebla (where the battle took place) still observes it.
It's obviously not a holiday here in the States, it's more of a St. Patrick's Day-type thing. Just a reason to celebrate. No denying it though, it HAS become really big here in this country.
Back on topic though, Pacquiao-Hatton is a great fight for that weekend! :boxing:
Its more of a Mexican-American Holiday for us, so yes, its a Mexican Holiday.

The most retarded aspect of this thread is that Cinco de Mayo isnt even a Mexican holiday. It's an american holiday.:unitedsta

And ferocity have the galls to claim 5-de mayo a weekend holiday....LMAO!
BTW, in the Philippines, Mayo Uno (May 1) is labor day. So the fight is actually a Mayo-Uno holiday weekend for Pinoys.
:owned:
You're the idiot, you too much of a Piony wannabe to understand how 5 de Mayo is celebrated every weekend closest to 5 de Mayo.
And you got owned again, even after you put in all those hours of research cause as a poster mentioned in Mexico 1 de Mayo is also a Mexican Holiday. :peeright:
Too nutthugging Flips in this thread go suck it :baby:, go and have your guy fight on a Holiday of your own bitchs!
To even compare 1 of May to 5 de Mayo, lmao, how ****en desperate can a flip be.
It's the same thing in Mexico, May 1st is Día del Trabajo.
Cinco de Mayo IS a holiday in Mexico...but not celebrated on the scale that it's celebrated here in the States. It's become very commercialized and it's basically just a reason to eat, drink and party...to be an "honorary Mexican" for the day! :sombrero::friday::lol1:
Its more of a Mexican-American thing. But these idiots act like they don't know whats up. More and more cities in Mexico are now participating in 5 de Mayo.

Why not have them fight that weekend? It's a big party weekend in this country...for Mexicans and non-Mexicans alike.
If there's no other big-name Hispanic fighter available to fill the slot, the next best thing is to have two ring warriors like Pac and Hatton go at it with their crowd-pleasing "Mexican" style of fighting. It's okay with me, it'll be an exciting fight to watch with a packed house of friends over! :friday:
Who would you prefer to fight that weekend? The Margarito-Cotto rematch would've been huge that weekend, but it'll be big on the eve of the Puerto Rican Day Parade in NY too. So who else???
Maybe if Juan Diaz and Juan Manuel Marquez were bigger names, that would also be a good option for that weekend. That fight will be big in Houston when it happens, but probably wouldn't do that great anywhere else.
Hatton-Pacquiao on Cinco de Mayo is all good with me! :boxing:

Cuz Pacquiao beat all the Mexicans and Ricky wears a sombrero.
At least Mexican fans stay the entire fight event. Unlike Darchinyan or Armenian fans, after their fighter is done, they all leave.
Didn't they say hello to the fans or something?
Are you going to keep bitching and winning and hating on everything Pacquaio does? Damn!! This is getting ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!
Any dates for Puerto Rican holidays. So if PBF fights Pac, PR fans can back Manny.
Pac said he will fight in may or june. The promoters get together and tell their fighters your fighting on this date. The fighters said yes if they don't have a problem with it.
