Duran - 135
Leonard - 147
Hearns - 154
Hagler - 160
I'll say Hearns surprisingly... he was one of the worst of the fab 4 (which is still better than almost anyone to ever fight), but his jab, power and reach would just give Mayweather fits IMO.
Hagler a close second because of size alone. Leonard 3rd and Duran 4th, also because of their size.
Thoughts?
Floyd also won't be able to do that step-back-hook of his and slam these guys to the turn buckle like he did Hatton because these guys have rock-solid chin.
Floyd loses to all. :D
What makes you think either get caught with that shot in the first place?
Duran always fought with his right hand up near his cheek (even when throwing), ala Hopkins (for recent reference), and was nearly impossible to hit flush anyway at his peak.
Hagler was also very hard to hit with the left hook and was really only very susceptible to the right lead (which, while a May weapon, would struggle due to Hagler's height, power, strength, skill and defense in prime), straight right hand which started in the Duran/Hagler fight and ended with Mugabi fight especially, before Leonard.
The way Hearns fought Wilfred Benitez is the way to beat Floyd Mayweather.
I've always said that Hearns would have absolutely no trouble with Mayweather for this simple fact. Can't see how people disagree so much with this Manchine...? It's quite truly an easy win for Hearns. Too fast, too hard, too quick (yes, there is a difference between fast and quick), and too damn big!
I should vote for Hearns 'cause he would have the easiest time of it, but I think Duran would beat him well, although in a very hard fight, and them being in the same division makes it more for Duran IMO.
i think all 4 beats floyd tbh.
I can't be bothered going into explanations right now as I'm having trouble hitting the keys, but, I agree.
Each guy would beat him and reasonably convincingly so. Duran the least convincingly because that was Mayweather's best weight of course, but no one that stood in front of Duran could win, and especially no one that liked to lay on the ropes as much as Mayweather did, so, in a funny way that makes it the most convincing win in fact (May being at his prime weight).
i think Leonard... he can do everything Floyd can, but better
i think Floyd could maybe scrape a win against Hearns and/or Duran... i have em down as close fights, with Duran and Hearns slight favourites
and Hagler is too big
I don't think Hearns' chin would be an issue against Mayweather.
He didn't really have a "glass" jaw anyway. In the Leonard fight he was tired and didn't know how to tie up, in the Hagler fight he was overpowered in a brawl (he took a lot of punishment before going down), against Barkley he got caught by a bigger, stronger fighter.
The way Hearns fought Wilfred Benitez is the way to beat Floyd Mayweather.
Leonard vs Floyd Sr
dont be fooled by his resume i have heard a few people say if he had legs/ and or balance he would have been the best of the lot.
My pick would naturally be Hagler, at 160 to big for Mayweather, too powerful
Tommy Hearns with a chin likely would have never lost.
But, he didn't have one, which was enough to separate the other three from him.
Duran - 135
Leonard - 147
Hearns - 154
Hagler - 160

I like how you guys just discredit Floyd and say all 4 beat him soundly...those 4 wouldnt even tell you that.
I think Floyd would beat Tommy Hearns..his chin was too glassy....Floyd would catch him...Tommys right hand would never land..Floyd dances to a UD.
Floyd couldn't put Judah away. How is he gonna hurt the bigger, stonger, better Hearns? Tommy would have him on the ropes, Floyd would be trying to pot shot him while he kept teeing off. Hearns by a wide decision or late stoppage.
Duran gets boxed silly.
And just how did you come to this conclussion? At his best, Durans defense is excellent and his offense is 5x better than Floyds. Duran, UD.
Hagler is too big Floyd loses at 160.....Wait ..Floyd never fought at 160 but anywho.
Ok.
SRL gets outclassed and outpointed everything SRL did..Floyd does better...and the defense is not even close..Floyd wins this in a close fight.
Leonard is bigger, faster, stronger, meaner, a better offensive fighter and underrated defensively. Ray had problems with taller fighters. If he could put the leather to Benitez the way he did, he could do it to Floyd. Leonard, UD.
Hagler beats him...Floyd beats the rest.
Its sickening the nuthuggery Mayweather gets. He hasn't even faced todays best welters, yet many have him beating some of the greatest and most accomplished fighters in history. Floyd is a wonderful fighter, but please.......get real!
what?
i think all 4 beats him and soundly.
no point in going into specifics really.
hearns was too tall and powerful.
hagler is too big and powerful.
leonard was bigger , had a chin floyd couldn't hurt and just as skilled.
duran and floyd are the closest in size but floyd's toughest fight to date was castillo. there is no boxing skill or attribute category that i can think of where castillo had even a slight edge on roberto.
floyd gets ktfo by all 4.
Pretty much what he said ^
Duran - 135
Leonard - 147
Hearns - 154
Hagler - 160

Hearns and Leonard would give Floyd fits because of their size, reach, skills and in Hearn's case, power.
Duran and Hagler would overpower Floyd. If Hatton can pin Floyd to the ropes and land his shots, this two can definitely do the same and do more damage compared to Hatton because of their power; Floyd also won't be able to do that step-back-hook of his and slam these guys to the turn buckle like he did Hatton because these guys have rock-solid chin.
Floyd loses to all. :D
I'd give Floyd the edge over Duran, but i don't think Floyd could beat Hearns, Hagler or Leonard.
Hearns's size advantage, reach and power would make Paul Williams seem easy in comparison, and Thomas Hearns was also a spectacular boxer who when he had to could beat you with his jab alone if necessary. Floyd would run into that jab if he tried to run and pot shot Tommy and run into the big right hand if he tried to slug with Hearns. Either way Mayweather doesn't match up good against Hearns.
Hagler had a size advantage against Hearns and Leonard, and would be physically dominant against Floyd as well. Hagler would have overpowered Mayweather much the same way Cotto got to Judah, and I really think Floyd would be in worse shape against Hagler than he would have been against Hearns. It wouldn't help Mayweather's cause that Hagler was a southpaw, but Hatton did well early against Floyd with pressure. The pressure Hagler 20 lbs. heavier would have brought to bear would have been too much for Floyd to handle.
Ray Leonard was arguably the best of his era, and beat both Hagler and Hearns in spite of the tools and skill the two brought into the ring. Ray's ability and hand speed was as good or better than anyone in history, and his power was very underrated. That said, Leonard matches up best against Mayweather and would be Floyd's best chance to get a win out of any of these three. Still you got to figure if Ray could get by Hagler and Hearns, he would find a way to get passed Mayweather as well.
I think the size disadvantage would be Mayweather's downfall in these three matches.
the hitman without a doubt, he's way to tall and would out jab floyd with ease, also with the power tommy combined with his height i'd fancy him to pick floyd off all day long.
