James Toney barely defeated a B heavyweight in Fres Oquendo. A Hall-of-Fame great, it is in my opinion time for him to retire. He is no longer a great fighter and if he is not careful, he will wind up getting. Does everyone agree with this assessment?
James Toney shouldn't retire. The guy just simply loves to fight. This is what he's been doing for 20 odd years. Other people work in jobs they love until they're 60 cos it keeps them sane.
Everybody was saying that James was finished when he took long service leave in late 90s. Nobody gave James a chance against Jirov and we all know what happened in that fight. Then James moved up to Heavyweight and destroyed Holyfield and in the process won 'fight of the year', 'comeback of the year' and 'fighter of the year' in 2003.
James has a knack of re-inventing himself and always manages to pull a rabbit out of the hat. The Klitchkos should have answered James' calls four years ago about fighting him. Toney is the kind of fighter who always steps up when there's a World Title on the line. His record in Title fights speaks for itself losing only once to RJJ.
James has never been beaten up in 80 pro fights and has been in there with the best fighters in the world and none of today's Heavyweights have achieved what Toney's achieved in his career.
Toney won't retire until he looks like Butterbean!
now that you mention it he kinda looks like butterbean (just saw a butterbean fight in k1) only the wrong colors, even his face and expression are similar to beans...
no it wasn't me
but yeah. why should he retire. no one has beaten him up yet
he almost knocked out rahman in 4 rounds well he actually
did cos rahman quit
wladimir took longer to beat rahman ... rahman never went
down by the way
Klitschko did knock Rahman down in the 6th with a few left hooks.
Toney should have retired along time ago that old ****. Hes lazy and sloppy in the ring and doesn't have the power anymore. hes just doing it for the money.
