whats everyones take on him?? some people are on his jock just cause mayweather said so and then they are those who say him whoop ian gardner or make adamek look like garbage... so is he really p4p top 5? well, p4p ratings have nothing to do with boxing skill but more to do with accomplishments. Dawson hasn't accomplished enough to be in the top 5. but based on skills alone, he is a top 3 boxer in the world after Calderon and Gamboa IMO. I don't think there is anyone from cruiserweight down, that could beat him.

The guy is great, I've said it all the long. Chad Dawson is the only fighter today who could beat Calzaghe, I think Chad is a future p4p #1.

The hatred on this site is something to behold, he is the real deal best LHW out now. He is no longer trained by Mayweather Sr. by the way.

I started following him around the time he beat Carl Daniels as a middleweight. The first real full fight I saw was the Harding fight where Dawson dominated with his jab. He has shown a great deal of skill and some toughness as well, despite not having the best punch resistance. As much as some of you want to rip on him, he could have folded against Johnson after taking those heavy shots...but he didn't. He hung in there and went the distance against a rugged old fighter and was awarded the decision. He also got off his ass against Adamek and Harding. Dawson is one of my favorite fighters around now. I think he has the goods and I can't wait for him to fight some more high profile fights here soon.

chad dawson losing to b hop hell no.. no way dawson isnt just gonna sit there like kelly or rush in like joe chad dawson is tailor made for hopkins. both fighters are very much alike in that they both are slick counterpunchers but dawson has a styk in which exprience and boxing nous is very important. in that respect he loses out to the older fighter every time. dawson has decent handspeed and footwork but bernards boxing brain, accuracy, inside fighting and mastery of southpaws would mean that dawson tastes his first LOSS. imo dawson is a very good fighter but he loses to both calzaghe and hopkins right now.

Dawson is not the next Jeff Lacy. Thats bogus. Dawson has the boxing skills needed to be a champion.

Sounds like Mr. Calzaghe to me and look where he is.Calzaghe is 36 himself and was ranked P4P before he fought hopkins who is still ranked P4P. big difference between Hopkins and tarver/johnson. I think we both agree the jones fight don't mean shit.

I know they weren't P4P but I thought I'd point it out lol Mr. Calzaghe beat a Hopkins that was in the Top 5 P4P. Mr. Dawson would lose to Hopkins in a wide UD.

true the chin is suspect most def... but what i like is his footwork and handspeed... overall to me he does not fight like the average southpaw... but i do see where someone said untested tarver was garbage and glenn johnson is like a old junk yard dawg he is game but still none of them on his level.. who would be a good challenge for him

whats everyones take on him?? some people are on his jock just cause mayweather said so and then they are those who say him whoop ian gardner or make adamek look like garbage... so is he really p4p top 5? is he balls!!! his best victory is over adamek, yes he wins against johnson and taver but when you look beyond boxrec they dont look that good. most people have scored the johnson fight for the road warrior, even dawson after the fight had the look of someone who knew he had just gotten away with something. he beat tarver as well but tarver on the night looked like he was 45 yrs old - no speed, sno snap no mobility literally nothing. dawson is a good fighter though - sharp, quick, accurate he puts his punches together well and with mayweather snr in his corner he will only get better. over time i see him morphing into a slick, counter-puncher. but to do that he needs good fights aginat strong and beatable opposition so that he can learns that nous and tha ring savvy. some ppl inlcuidng myself have question marks over his chin, his stamina might need some work as well. right nowhes bordering on the top 10 p4p. id love to see him vs kessler in the next few years.

I don't think he's P4P yet but he's got potential! I was impressed with his performance against Tarver and although he didn't look good against Glen johnson but he still managed to win on a bad night which deserves credit. I think he's still got a lot to prove but definatley has potential to be the man!

P4P top 5? based on what? Beating 2 40 year olds who themselves where never ranked P4P? Future of the division, for sure, P4P top 10? not even close yet.
