Roy Jones Jr went 12 fights undefeated with 9 knockouts Glen Johnson hit a two fight rough patch then went on a knockout spree. He lost to Sven Ottke and went on a similar spree. So does Sven Ottke ruin fighters? Oscar De La Hoya followed up Hopkins with a spectacular knockout of Ricardo Mayorga.

Bernard only really messed up Taylor fight wise. And Bernard didn't do anything that caught Joe off guard. Its not like Joe's a new guy on the block. Roy's gonna have his hands full this Saturday. And Joe ain't gonna have a easy time either.

Ouma was abit embarassing, Pavlik shouldn't have beat him twice, but his SD over Spinks is still a good win. Spinks is underrated. Winky - Hasn't even fought, doesnt mean Hopkins ruined him, hes had a long successful career and will probably be retiring soon. Tarver - Is just one lucky mofo in beating Roy. He really isnt as good as his fight with roy shows. Plus, Calzaghe beat the guy.

There's some merit in what the threadstarter is saying although not quite like what he said. Bernard Hopkins doesn't curse his opponents, he exposes them. Maybe that's the same thing. But when I say "exposes", I don't mean proving a fighter isn't good. Hopkins shows that fighters' flaws for the rest of the world to see. If you have some ch*nks in your armor, Bernard Hopkins will magnify them. Calzaghe deserves some props because he showed that - at least mentally - he could stand in with Hopkins knowing he wouldn't be able to do the things he normally does. Some say he succeeded, others disagree. I think he did. I picked Calzaghe to beat Hopkins not necessarily because he was better but because I didn't think Bernard would throw enough. Or, as one nameless person put it, 'if he tries to pull that bullsh*t he did against Lacy he's gonna get countered bad.' Hopkins exposed Calzaghe's bad tendencies: squaring up, peeking in (while forgetting to protect himself) and wide, long shots that are often delivered with a big bulls-eye square on his chin. But you can't win without throwing in boxing. If Calzaghe leaves his chin out there against Jones, he (and many watching) may be in for the shock of their lives. However, in order for Jones to do that, he'll have to do the one thing that's nipped at him his whole career...take a risk. He'll have to be willing to stand and deliver while under fire himself. Or as he said, "in order to get a** you've gotta give it." Sure, he can try to rope-a-dope, box some and do those old things. But he isn't the same guy. And Joe Calzaghe, as he's proven throughout his career, just isn't going to fold like that. We'll see how that goes. It's so ironic looking at Jones and Hopkins. Style-wise there are subtle similarities. And a begrudging respect for each other. Whether knowingly or not, they tend to borrow pages from the other's book, mainly because each possesses the traits the other longs for. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see Jones borrow again on Saturday.

Pavlik is the one to look for for that. Joe is one fight and out, and if he loses to this version of Jones he ALWAYS would have lost to him.
